2024: AL Central Thread
Jeffers the poster child for everything that went wrong down the stretch. Royce Lewis went into a huge skid too. Mariners and Twins both choked. Braves just had too many injuries to overcome....but they could still make it if KC relaxes now.

9/26 Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1:10PM - final home game
sure...but nobody will buy a thing unless they swept Detroit or at least 2/3 then they might keep Sizemore but they can't hype a team without Crochet and Robert that will lose 115-120 again not unless Montgomery destroyed the AFL and they decided to start the season with him and that's still going to mean season ticket sales leaning in the direction of 1.15 million from 1.35 maybe even 1.1

Crochet open to extension...
That’s going to be the argument in 2026 when Schulz or Smith gets hurt. Then they will start yet another rebuild because only one really high caliber pitcher? Perpetual rebuilding. Three year extension plus two arb years would be five total years of control though. They would have to set reasonable numbers to cover arb, guaranteeing those first two years as well. Five year deal essentially.

Fire Chris Getz
Lots of talk out of Minnesota that Luke K. is going to be their starting 1B next year while he recovers from TJ like Harper did. Raving about his athletic ability, preparation, game/situational awareness. Talking about what to do with Santana Kiriloff Julien etc. Jeffers went from All Star first half to second half collapse. At any rate...would have been cheaper and likely much better offensive replacement for Vaughn. And eventually 2B.

More Sox ties with Camp Cora/Ozzie DETROIT -- The Tigers had just started a West Coast trip in Seattle in August, seven games under .500 after losing seven of nine on a homestand, when third-base coach Joey Cora talked with hitters about baserunning. How long it lasted depends on who you ask. “It was, like, five or 10 seconds,” Matt Vierling said. “Joey made a comment about it, got on us a little bit.” However long it lasted, it was fitting with Cora’s personality, and it resonated. “It was an intense meeting, to say the least,” Parker Meadows said, a sentiment that Justyn-Henry Malloy seconded. “In that particular meeting, it was just reminding guys about a couple different things,” manager A.J. Hinch said. “When you play in Seattle, it’s very similar to Comerica [Park], where it’s big, and if we get [outfielders] going side to side, we need to take extra bases. We were also facing one of the best pitching staffs in baseball, so we were trying to instill preparedness: We’ve got to take advantage of every 90 [feet] against this type of team.” From there, Vierling said, the Tigers took a few more chances. Those became highlights in pregame meetings, and the mentality spread. What began as a reminder is now a mindset, with players in the dugout going crazy whenever a teammate takes an extra base on a risky play. It has fueled the Tigers’ late-season charge into the American League Wild Card race, and it helped the Tigers win a game Thursday that they seemed headed for defeat to the Rays. mlb.com

All Star announcement or Ramirez's quite pointed comments about Anderson?

Crochet open to extension...
Still not even certain they were going to get any team's top prospect packages as desired from LAD Baltimore...Philly ATL StL, at least two other teams.

Crochet open to extension...
Half of baseball will be open to an extension if he can stay healthy before a possible trade. And it would increase franchise value to have a young star pitcher with Schultz and Smith right behind. Unfortunately Jerry is so risk adverse he will only see possibilities for injury, instead of a Cy Young in the prime of his young career.

Cedric Mullins would be a nice leadership and defensive-minded candidate as a FA but Sox will be one of his very last options...and rightfully so.

Flexen will finish ahead of Berrios Stroman Rea Quintana Civale Canning with a 1.2ish fWAR. One of the rare members of the team to be at 1.0 fWAR or higher. Crochet 4.4 and Fedde 2.6 the other two...maybe someone miraculously in the pen. Cannon 1.2 similar to Flexen. Tanner Banks at 0.9 led the pen. Davis Martin 0.6. Six others in pen finished 0.2-0.3.

CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago
I do through MLB.TV just because I want to follow the entire sport for fantasy baseball...even if it's usually audio due to quite spotty internet here in China this past year.

CHSN to be available on antenna in Chicago
Maybe SoxTalk should be put in charge of this new network venture lol....figuring out how to push free product out to Sox addicts (guess there are around 30-50,000 remaining truly hardcore fans). Or maybe they will see Sox addicts in the marketing and think it's for Sex addicts instead...the old bait and switcheroo.

This is not Walden Pond. The guy cracked up and lost touch with reality in that type of extremely isolated environment.

2024 MLB News not AL Central related
A’s finish with a massive 40,000 plus attendance for last home game ever…27 bases will be given to club employees, fans will be fighting to fill up infield dirt in water bottles if they allow it. Preview for JR? Next three in Sacramento. Last in MLB attendance, 922,286 and average per game of 11,529. Dallas Braden going all over parking lots and stands thanking all the fans…his perfect game the #1 Hollywood story, movie possibility if they keep greenlighting baseball movies without Costner. Plus Pitt did it better in Beane role. Shades of Brooklyn Dodgers leaving Ebbetts in 1957…added for JR.

Padres were done with Clevinger when he got rocked two years ago in NLCS against Phils. Big contract, unpopular in clubhouse…and they had to trade Quantrill, Josh Naylor, Hedges, Owen Miller, Gabriel Arias, Cantillo. And still didn’t want him back after that. https://awaybackgone.com/2022/05/04/cleveland-guardians-revisiting-the-mike-clevinger-trade/

Drury with an astounding 476 ops would be a good buy low candidate if they dump Sheets/Vaughn. He was really pretty decent the last 2-3 years, overall.
