The difference is that Harrelson was a former big leaguer...and that was more of a "paternalistic" concern, versus a non-athlete trying to ingratiate himself with the players by hanging out with them. Plus Harrelson obviously golfed a lot with the players during the course of the season as well. There's a lot of camaraderie we don't ever see that takes place on the course.

Castillo is due roughly $100 million, including a vesting option based on innings pitched, over the next four years. That seems like a relative bargain on today's market. Talentwise, clearly you go with Castillo. Unless you invested all your savings into solidifying that offense and counting on a Rodriguez return to form season.
