At least he recovered and got the out. 25 years since Old Tiger Stadium now. Those iconic outfield over hanginf upper decks and CF flag in play at 440.

Ends season with a nifty 3.58 ETA and lots of extra high velo/max effort pitches due to Ramos.

9/27 Sox @ Detroit 5:40PM
Ramos just needs more time on the minor working on his defense. Bad read. Extra pitches. Loud grunting from Crochet. Never goes out of the 50s for pitch counts recently. Benetti called it a swing. Bad call. Didn't realize Trey Sweeney was the wrong Dodger traded to Sox. Flaherty trade...Fedde sigh. Similar values.

53-26 record for Detroit with Parker Meadows playing. Crochet has only walked two in his last eight outings. Just 35 pitches. Wish they had DeLoach on the board to put some pressure but you had the botched call. Just assumed a fan touch on the ball down the RF line.

Bullpen guy. Two inning limit.

DeLoach has actually looked pretty good tonight...like he's playing for a job next year. Hiding in against a tough lefty and battled.

Detroit trying to avoid Houston...which the national media would love with Hinch vs. his former team. Probably won't get much help from Min vs. Baltimore.

9/27 Sox @ Detroit 5:40PM
Detroit just has so much more athleticism and defense. 12 starts in a row limited to four or less innings. 7 days of rest though. In the end almost impossible to sweep DET in this situation on the road, and for Minnesota or Seattle to also win 3 consecutive. But certainly dramatic enough in the moment. So it's Braves/Mets and the crazy weather.

Make that four unless they actually push Crochet longer in the game for the first time in six weeks.

9/26 Sox vs. Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1:10PM - final home game
Too small a target…and doesn’t hit for power. Burger would have been nice in these throwaway seasons. Ramos, maybe? One way or another, you have those two, Baldwin, Sosa and Montgomery to fit somewhere.

That’s just not credible. Ask the season ticket brokers how things are going. Also to the earlier conversation, Soroka hasn’t been talked about much but he could fit in that swingman/vet role. Just not sure if they can agree on salary. Someone in the front office seems to like him, though. Maybe Dayton Moore pushed him to Getz as a former Braves’ guy, or Hostetler.

White Sox w/ 10 of top 79 fWAR pitchers
Thorpe still has a lot to prove with his health and fastball command when behind in the count. Don’t see Schultz and Smith getting pushed up super fast without any offense to support them. That miss timing of the roster is what led to Rodon leaving when he was just hitting his stride as a Sox…or JR’s pocketbook. But Schultz has been babied along for a reason.

Probably behind the recall of Moncada and having him sit on the bench instead of playing down the stretch for $29 million, more than he lost on John Danks’ entire contract alone if you figure in insurance reimbursement and performance on the front half of the deal.

The Mystery of Luis Robert
Someone will eventually fix him and he’ll get his own thread. He’s only one year off a great healthy season. He’s also gotta go from the Bears/Sox to baseball version of Tomlin like Fields, lol. To go from that year to injury frustration and retirement talk in just one season is worse than the downfall of Tim Anderson from top hitter in the AL to out of the game entirely.

The Mystery of Luis Robert
Jose Bautista? Ortiz? Manny Ramirez? Machado? Miguel Cabrera? Too much of a generalization. if you listed the 10-15 most dynamic game changing players in the sport today, Julio Rodriguez, Acuna, Elly de la Cruz, Tatis, ONeil Cruz, Jose Ramirez, Lindor would all have to be considered. Just off the top of my head. Get 2-3 together on your team and run with it. Maybe even Ketel Marte. unfortunately Moncada and Robert simply didn’t gel together and Eloy was never going to be that fast twitch athlete with 30-30 potential

Crochet open to extension...
Sign someone from LA’s or SD’s front office who was part of drafting or signing Xavier Edwards, CJ Abrams, Jackson Merrill and acquiring Kim Tatis Cronenworth Profar Machado…Bogaerts the one clear miss so far or underachiever. Or simply overrated in Boston. Heck, even Donovan Solano can play everywhere. Lad the exact same philosophy with Betts Lux Taylor k*** Gonzalez Vargas (lol). Guys who can legitimately play 2-3 positions and run/take extra bases like Baltimore does, or the Tigers now. Anyway, now 9 original SS’s who can play nearly anywhere on the diamond…like Merrill Tatis and Profar converted to the OF now. Throw in James Wood as well on that list. White Sox haven't had a player like that since Tim Anderson or Alexei Ramirez with that brand of versatility and athleticism. Fwiw Madrigal Vaughn Sheets Burger all limited tools guys best at non premium positions of C SS 2B CF.

Crochet open to extension...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2019_Major_League_Baseball_draft 5/8 picks already All Stars…Vaughn over Greene is just killing us. With Riley Greene you can build around Robert and him and have the makings of a great outfield. And he’s most certainly NOT on Detroit’s roster as well. Then if we were one pick earlier, Bohm over Madrigal. Of course it works in reverse, Kolek and Aiken were busts and Rodon was the one to make it too late to generational wealth for his family.

Crochet open to extension...
I was just going by an earlier poster who was a bit confused and had him around just three more years (but extended through arb years) vs. five. I guess four is probably the only realistic compromise here. Danks destroyed the five year forever. Just took a single player, whereas LAD go through handfuls per roster on the pitching side like Glasnow Matsumoto etc. After Clevinger, maybe Urias is next Sox target (90% joking)…the only way to make up a significant talent deficit is guys like AJ Everett Dye coming out of controversy or injury or worn out welcomes like DAngelo Jimenez or CJ Abrams or even Oscar Colas for another team or acquire on the cheap. Jim Thome injured and replaced by Howard, etc. Assuming Alex Rios’ deal…Loiaza Contreras Jenks etc. Have to think outside the box again. And that requires spending money Getz probably doesn’t have in all likelihood. Not at this point in time, and after watching Hahn burn through hundreds of millions on vets and the those lousy early extensions.

The International Signing Thread
That requires someone knowing talent. They lucked into Tatis because of the father pushing him to the Sox, just like Elijah. They won Robert largely because of Abreu and that STL wasn’t perceived as a great place for black/Latin players, perhaps more racism or discrimination bordering on the near South (although to this day McGee Pendleton Ozzie three of the most popular ex Cards, Brock as well). Won Abreu because only Colorado and Sox needed a 1B. Alexei Ramirez was probably the best ever Sox scouting projection from limited utility player to RoY type talent. Ofc Eloy Jimenez was very highly ranked as well as he entered the Cubs’ system…still not sure who the talent guru is on the Latin American side, most likely it will be Keller making signing decisions, though.
