Sooo, parallel universe: Who would you hire?
That's an interesting thought. Jay Cuda lol.

8/24 Sox vs. Athletics
Nobody on God's green earth would describe Aaron Bummer as a solid player this year. I don't care what statistic is cited...
-
8/24 Sox vs. Athletics
Yeah, even with those MiLB Top 50-100 lists you're only looking at a 10-15% "hit rate" in terms of producing "above average or replacement-level" players...especially after you get past the Top 10-15 guys.

8/24 Sox vs. Athletics
Hopefully that's enough to clinch the Gold Glove. Double play would have been icing on the cake/trophy.
-
8/24 Games
100% YES. Everything that happens in the minor leagues...aka development.
-
8/24 Sox vs. Athletics
Obviously shouldn't be an "experiment" (Kopech either) 5-6 years into their major league careers when they were both consensus top prospects with almost EVERYONE in the entire scouting industry.

8/24 Sox vs. Athletics
Still owe him $35 million including these last two months of the 2023 season...

Fire Pedro Grifol
Has he realistically thought about the 2024 starting rotation and bullpen????? Heck, if you go back to the 2014-15 Royals, they had their most important leader at the catcher's spot in Salvador Perez. That's arguably the weakest spot on the Sox roster until Quero debuts.

Try talking to teenagers these days in a high school classroom...even in China. They only want to talk about sleeping and e-sports/social media, lol. So it's always a challenge just to find common topics when you're that 53 year old white guy who represents the patriarchy, therefore, you need to adjust/adapt, lol.

KW/Hahn - They Gone
Or that Mike had a son that age already...the only good thing to come out of the 2007 "all the big arms" season...

8/24 Sox vs. Athletics
Benintendi close to his season peak of a .712 OPS...after that homer.

Ohtani torn UCL
Hernández: Angels failed to stop Shohei Ohtani from a disastrous injury that alters his future (yahoo.com) LA Times columnist blames the Angels for basically letting Ohtani do whatever he wants and not shutting him down longer after his last start when his velocity was quite noticeably down.

Buehrle Bobbleheads for Sox Charities
Sure, no problem. Was actually just looking to find out what Vinny Duber was doing these days and came across this and thought it was pretty cool. Not to mention the charitable aspect and tax write off, haha.

Fire Pedro Grifol
The closest I can think of recently would be all the hype over Joe Maddon in 2015-2016...when he was outselling Jose Abreu jerseys in the Quad Cities and tied into a bevy of promotions like Binny's Beverage Depot and MANY more.

Other teams bad contracts with 1 or 2 years left
The last thing Reinsdorf's going to authorize is taking on MORE bad financial commitments...it's bad enough with Moncada and Benintendi already, not to mention Eloy (although his options can be declined.)

2023: MLB news not AL Central-related
Dodgers brought back Busch today and of course he hit his first homer of the season...
-
Fire Tony
Isn't he still under managerial contract technically for this season already? Surely JR wouldn't just cancel it outright.

Reinsdorf considers moving White Sox out of Guaranteed Rate Field or selling team
https://www.royalsreview.com/2023/8/22/23840480/the-value-of-a-stadium-entertainment-district This is exactly what the Royals are selling... A new stadium, entertainment district AND a likely extension to Bobby Witt, Jr., to build everything around. The Sox don't have any of these three...except for a stadium largely based on Kauffman minus the OF fountains. Upper decks are almost exactly the same...down to the rake/angle.

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
Actually, he just kept repeating the main point. And the ONLY way he saves his job is Getz/Moore/TLR/Hostetler/Buddy Bell going to JR and asking him to be spared … heck, throw in George Brett, all advocating for him getting another shot with a cleaner slate next year.

After an exhaustive search, Getz named GM/VP
Grifol offers high praise for GM candidate Getz…as does Kopech https://www.mlb.com/news/white-sox-options-for-next-general-manager#:~:text=“He's 24%2F7%2C extremely,well-equipped for this.” “He’s extremely articulate, he’s smart, he’s been around,” said Grifol of Getz. “He’s got experience. Player development really prepares people to do this type of stuff. He’s got experience in the clubhouse as a player, and as an executive. He’s well-equipped to do what he’s being asked to do. “Even as a player, you can tell he had characteristics of becoming an executive at some point if he chose to go that route. And then when he got into the front office, I know he was highly regarded as a young executive. He’s certainly equipped to do what he’s being asked to do by Jerry right now.” Getz and Jeremy Haber, another White Sox assistant general manager, are currently overseeing the club’s day-to-day operations, although in answering a question about fundamental things needing to change within the organization, Grifol referred to Getz as “leading us right now.” ….. “He’s 24/7, extremely smart, knows the organization,” said Grifol of Getz. “Understands moves, understands personalities and the mind that it takes to move to the next level, the timing it takes to move to the next level. He’s really smart and he’s well-equipped for this.” “I have a good relationship with Chris,” said White Sox starting pitcher Michael Kopech, who worked four scoreless innings, striking out five and walking four, before leaving with leg cramps against Seattle. “He used to be a player himself and so he’s got a respect for the guys who go out there and work hard on the field. If he’s the one doing the job, I think he’ll do a great job.”

https://www.mlb.com/news/takeaways-from-shohei-ohtani-injury $250-325 million probably doubles the number of teams involved and likely brings the Angels back into it

Sooo, parallel universe: Who would you hire?
Balta is right. Kim NG has a number of positive qualities but is hardly a slam dunk choice. Would take her over Moore/Getz but that's about the extent of it. The Sox DO need those Miami scouts who signed so many successful Latin American players the past decade plus...especially on the pitching side.

Ohtani torn UCL
Just cut his contract from $500-600 million down into the $375-450 million range one would think.

Sooo, parallel universe: Who would you hire?
When did we ever see any of those three guys try to KILL themselves...well, other than Eloy running into fences and jumping into netting and getting stepped on during brawls?
