The change looked great. It really dropped down out of the zone at the last second. Lots of check swings.

My mom doesn't shave her bikini line when she goes swimming and it shows. Makes a son want to throw up all over the place.

Charlotte vs Durham Winston Salem vs Salem Kannapolis vs West Virginia Great Falls vs Billings Phegley's 4-4, the maker of Shoes gets his first AAA hit (a double), Nevin pitching well.

I applied online to about 1000 jobs (from July '07 - January '08). Finally got a call back after about six months to one job of the thousand. I had an interview with a company called Oce, which is a company that basically gets contracted to do office and printing jobs (pretty much temp work). I showed them that I had the ability to do some very very very basic things that I learned in high school [not college]. I was then declared the best candidate they'd ever had for the position they were trying to fill. I worked as a temp for 3 months before the company I was placed in had decided to hire me on full time. It was so wierd, because I had applied to so many jobs for so long and never got a response. But when I was finally given the opportunity to present myself, I was told that I was the best candidate they had seen for a long time. The job market is so wierd. I think the fact that a lot of people lie on their resumes hurts others' chances too. Usually the best way to get a job is simply to know someone.

You would think no because there's no point in him pitching anywhere but in AAA because the Sox probably don't want him as a starter in 09, but if they're gonna only be letting him pitch like 3 IP per start, than you might as well throw him in as a reliever and give him some big league experience before it's all done.

I'm going to a game at Fenway for the first time on the 15th. Anyone that has been there, is there anything I should know about that is worth seeing or doing there?

Allen just hit his first ML homer

When people boo him, they don't know why they're booing him. Similar to how when they root for the Cubs, they don't know why they're cheering for them.

Both are real.

What matters to most: Birmingham numbers- Viciedo - 1 for 5, 2B, RBI (68) Retherford - 2 for 5, 2B, RBI (72) Cook - 2 for 5, 2B, HR (24), RBI (81) Treybone - 1 for 5, SB (29) McCulloch reminding everyone why he's an awful draft pick. 5 ER, 5 IP.

QUOTE (joejoedairy @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 06:00 PM) all flyball outs so far from the gamelog: Wes Timmons pops out sharply to shortstop how does one pop out sharply? If the SS jumps 100 ft in the air and catches it?

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 24, 2009 -> 09:20 AM) In a vacuum, this is true. But for the Sox, I feel it was not. The Sox have seriously aging guys at 1B and DH, and now have less financial flexibility to go get a slugger, and no one at all in the minors that looks like a serious potential replacement of that offense. Meanwhile, the Sox have one of the stronger bullpens in the game, and a few nice arms in the minors for the future, so the pen really was not a huge concern. Seemed like a poorly thought out move to me, for this team in particular. Vicideo is a good candidate for 1B.

Even if Pena turns out to be a bust even in 2010, the trade thought process was smart on Kenny's part. 1B are extremely replaceable, but he was thinking that it'd be nice to get someone young in the pen who has the potential to be a closer some day, and can help now. Obviously it hasn't gone that well, but I can not criticize the trade thought process.

I'm 24, young, energetic, and good looking. In five years I'll have kids and none of those things will ever apply to me again.

What are some of the wierdest baseball moments that you've witnessed (or seen in replays) before? Whether they're amazing plays or just acts of idiocy on the playing field. I would say for me it would be -Pablo Ozuna throwing out Sean Casey at first from LF -Steve Lyons pulling his pants down at first base -I forgot who it was (maybe Tejada), but a SS was trying to field a ground ball that went into his jersey.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 20, 2009 -> 01:53 PM) Yeah, that's the weird part about it. In the minors Crede was a very good hitter and average defender. It switched in the majors. Let's hope Morel's defense stays where it is and the offense kicks ups. Although his offense could be better, its not like he's bad on offense. 6th in homers, 6th in RBIs, 5th in 2B, 7th in OPS, 10th in SB

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 08:29 PM) When healthy and playing well, we're absolutely in the discussion. I'd put: 1 Yankees 2 Angels 3 Red Sox 4 Rays 5 Rangers 6 White Sox. I'd probably throw the top baseball teams in this order 1 Yankees 2 Angels 3 Red Sox 4 Rays 5 Rangers 6 White Sox 7 Detroit 8 Twins 9 Mariners 10 Jays 11 Indians 12 A's 13 Orioles 14 Royals 15 Durham Bulls 16 Scranton Yanks 17 Rochester Red Wings 18 Toledo Mud Hens 19 LA Dodgers 20 Philadelphia Phillies 21 St. Louis Cardinals ............... -

QUOTE (WCSox @ Aug 19, 2009 -> 08:11 AM) So does this mean that he was topping out at 86-87? How'd he look overall? I didn't get to see the game and am curious. I only saw the first inning last night, but he was around 87 most of the time. Hit 91 once. I don't know what the velocity was like later in the game. In '06 his velocity was down to only 84 for a while.
