I feel like a lot of people on here are pretty critical of most baseball writers and analysts. Who do you guys consider to be among the very best, and among the very worst? Just curious. I know one thing, I trust Ken Rosenthal.

Sox not adding a LH bat; looking at relief, Damon?
Marky Mark replied to beck72's topic in Pale Hose Talk
If Damon was playing for the Sox in '10 what do you guys think his stats would be? You do have to take into to account that new Yankee stadium was perfect for him, and he is also getting older, at 36 years old, and was also just in a contract year. ...Then again he could bring back a certain bead.... I'd assume if healthy, he'd bring in around 10 HR, 60 RBIs, .350 OBP, and 15 SB. That's not too bad, and is definitely better than the floating KotJones DH, but that doesn't make him a miracle worker. Would you guys be happy with that stat line? Would project him pretty differently? -

Has anyone here done the Polar Plunge before? Or is doing the 2010 polar plunge? I just signed up with a group to do this and I thought, "how awesome would this be if we could get a huge portion of Soxtalk to do this with us. The plunge provides 75% of the funding for the special olympics, so what better of a group to get together than this Chicago online sports community. The plunge takes place on March 7th. Do you guys want to join our group to meet all the other Soxtalkers and form the largest fundraising group for the PP? I know I'd personally like to actually meet some of the people on here. If I'm not being to ambitious and you're interested in checking it out, go to their website. If you join our group (Team Liquid Courage), we're going to be doing some pre and postgaming at a local tavern, so it is sure to be a fun time and a good opportunity for you to network, (if you're looking to). Send me a PM if you want to do this.

Aww crap. Looks like I'm gonna have to actually keep reading the book. I've been holding out for the movie for the past few years instead of reading the second half of the book.

Mo Rivera has made 114 mil for being a reliever. Then again, he is the best ever.

QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 21, 2010 -> 09:00 PM) Starcraft is one of the best games ever. That's affirmative. It will come! Soon!

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 09:33 PM) Anyone interested in buying an Xbox 360? I'm selling mine. I have 2 controllers and HD cables and a bunch of games. What games are you selling?

The only thing I'd mind about signing Thome would be if they still had him bat either 3rd or 4th. If he's back, they need to have him later in the lineup, 7th or 8th maybe.

QUOTE (hegong23 @ Jan 20, 2010 -> 04:49 PM) If Dayan tears it up this spring could anyone see him making the 25 man and maybe stepping into that DH spot? Maybe even a platoon with him and Kong at 1B/DH. Or is he still a few years out? I feel like expectations for him were higher last year at this point in time than they are now. He would not be considered. He showed too many holes in his game for AA in '09. He has a major gaping issue of plate patience. The Sox also wouldn't want him to all of a sudden revert to DH either when he hasn't even played a major league game yet.

QUOTE (G&T @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 06:05 AM) I am currently housebreaking a 2 month old puppy. He physically shouldn't be able to hold the urine for more than like 20 minutes, except that he NEVER goes in his crate. If he isn't in the crate, then we are outside very frequently. I don't know if you crate trained the dog, but it will teach the dog to hold it until he can get outside. My question is, why are you ignoring the bell? Is it accidental, or are you trying to teach her to hold it? If it's the latter, then you should be using a crate or some small room where the dog will be less likely to go (a den, essentially). Unfortunately for me, my dog has no objections to using her crate as a toilet. I will ignore the bell when she's ringing it ten minutes after she just peed. I want her to learn to hold it, not release the second she feels it.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 12, 2010 -> 12:32 AM) I've got it. Did you train the dog to ring the bell with treats? Perhaps she rings the bell and pees because she expects a treat every time as a reward for both. No, no treats. We trained her so that she knew that she could not go outside without ringing the bell. When we let her out, she pees within 10 sec and is ready to come back in. She seems like she must be really having to pee, I hope holding back her water outside of meals will help.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 11:56 PM) Sure she's not just out there "marking"? I'd be shocked if that was the case, she pees right outside the door.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 11, 2010 -> 11:43 PM) Are you leaving her water bowl out? That's probably a good point. Its out except 2 hours before bedtime. You think if I limited it to just her meals, she'd be peeing less? The thing is, she pees so little when she's outside, she's not unloading buckets of it.

I have a puppy who is almost 7 months old. She originally was having trouble with her potty training but eventually taught her to ring a bell when she needed to go. The only problem is, she has to go pee literally every 45-60 minutes. When I let her out she does pee (not super long). Obviously at almost 7 months she should be able to hold her bladder for almost 7 hours, but clearly she can't. Anybody have any suggestions? When I ignore her ringing the bell she sneaks off to go pee upstairs. The vet also tested her urine, and found no infection. What do I do!?

QUOTE (Markbilliards @ Jan 7, 2010 -> 04:35 PM) I have a 360 with saved game data on two different profiles. Can I move the data from one profile to the other? Or am I stuck signing in and out every time? I'm bumping myself. If this isn't possible, let me know.

For me, when it comes playoff time and if the Sox aren't in it, I'm root'n for any AL Central team except the Tigers. I hate the tigers after they embarassed the whole AL in '06. I particularly like the Twins and Royals, but that may also be because I went to school in MN.

I remember when I had to have a pull over-Starter jacket. It was a must for 8 year olds in 1993.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jan 4, 2010 -> 10:49 AM) ...Halo LAN parties were the pinnacle of FPS multiplayer? My friends and I still find that to be the pinnacle of FPS multiplayer. We have a once a year Halo CE lan. Taking it back a little more, I remember Goldeneye being the first FPS multiplayer game that we ever played. That's where we had the "ironing board" matches.

I need the help of someone computer savvy, I've got Netgear issues
Marky Mark replied to Marky Mark's topic in SLaM
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 27, 2009 -> 06:34 PM) And when they said the problem was SP 3, they offered no solution? They just said that is your problem and thats all? Correct. I was on the phone with the lovely outsourced strong accented Netgear support guy for about an hour trying different things. He seemed like he was getting frustrated, so he said to hold on for a min so he could talk to his supervisor. He came back asking what type of service pack I had, when I told him it was 3 he said "Oh, well that's your problem. Its not compatible with service pack 3." He obviously was just out of ideas. -

I need the help of someone computer savvy, I've got Netgear issues
Marky Mark posted a topic in SLaM
I bought a Netgear RangeMax wireless USB 2.0 adapter (WPN111) for my desktop PC. I installed the software and followed the steps as the directions told me to. After installing, when I tried to open the software program, it opened and immediately closed itself within 1/10 of a second of opening it. I've tried opening it again and the same thing happens. I called both Netgear and Comcast and neither could help me. I currently have a netgear wireless router that works perfectly fine and my laptop receives wireless internet with no issues. I have also disabled my firewalls and antivirus software and it still doesn't work. Anyone have any clue why this is happening? I have Windows XP. Netgear said my problem was because I have service pack 3 which seems like a load of BS. Someone help me! -
So the Royals are paying Anderson 200k more than we are paying Andruw Jones?
