I think defensively, the knock against shorter 1Bs is he just doesn't have the reach that a taller 1B would have to catch the ball. Offensively, the concern is that he just isn't that big of a guy to hit with huge power. However, his college career speaks otherwise to that last concern.

I feel like if that is ever going to happen, it would with Luis Robert.

I think you are correct unless the mom planted it in the child's mind because it somehow helped with custody. That is easy to coach a kid into believing and saying. That being said....I think he's guilty.

I think his only chance [if he was innocent] to ever getting signed would be that his niece one day publicly admitted that it never happened. And I doubt she ever would because frankly....its pretty hard to remember a lot of details from ages 4-6.

I have to imagine the Sox may be in without actually doing anything that Boras could leak. They probably are just saying, don't let anything get finalized without keeping us informed and giving us a chance to counter. That way if they really want to pull the trigger, they have the ability too, but at the same time, there is nothing Boras can leak out about the Sox right now since they aren't actually making an offer.

I have no idea, but I would imagine there isn't necessarily a standard that has to be made on how the policy is set up. Insurance companies are willing to customize their policies if the price is right. I ADD'd out and didn't read the whole thing, but here's a decent article on insurance on Fangraphs.

Its not required to get a policy in MLB, but the Sox would 100% would have an insurance policy on Machado.
