QUOTE (TaylorStSox @ Dec 11, 2016 -> 01:44 PM) I don't know, but reading TOR over and over is already doing my head in. What does TOR mean? I've read it a lot too and can't put it together?

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 28, 2016 -> 03:47 PM) ss2k5, not sure if you missed this cause it already fell a couple of pages back, but it seems like it'd be right up your alley. Its a shame that Americans who are going to vote probably still won't take this as an opportunity to look closer at Johnson, Stein, and McMullin beyond the 1 or 2 videos/articles out there to discredit them.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Sep 12, 2016 -> 06:59 PM) It should be Kluber. But Porcello will win. Agreed on both counts. Unfortunately the voters are still too wrapped up in the thought that you must have the most wins and play for the most successful team to the best pitcher in baseball.

I have to imagine Eddy Alvarez is going to get a promotion if he can keep this up. For whatever reason, he was the guy I was most excited to follow this year. The start of his season was heartbreaking, but now he's pretty much erased that horrible start. April - May OPS: .493 June - July OPS: .932
-
Eddy Alvarez average is still on the incline! Got it up to .238! Batting .361 in June.

I have a good feeling about Anderson's first BB coming tomorrow!

How is it possible that Quintana has bad luck this long

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Jun 17, 2016 -> 10:07 PM) The only thing I can think of is the players know what's going on with him and they start pressing to try to get him some runs...which only seems to make things worse. Mark I think that's probably the case. -
I really want to see Eddy Alvarez get it going. It feels shocking to see him do so poorly after dominating so much in his past seasons.

5/17 - Astros @ White Sox Game Thread

Atta way Salad Fingers -
Was going to suggest that perhaps we could take on the remainder of Weaver's contract for little to no prospect cost....but then I saw his FB average velocity is down to 82 MPH this year. Goodness gracious no to that option. No wonder he's so much worse. Hector Santiago? Not that it's the right fit for us anyway, but I don't see the Angels trading Trout, even if they're the worst team in baseball. He's the kind of player that fans come to the park to see regardless of how good the team is doing.

How is Frazier hitting .200....seems like all he does is hit. -

Wake up Hawk. -
Do you think opposing hitters actually realize when they're facing Matt Albers that he hasn't given up a run since July?

Miguel Gonzalez getting called up, Danks skipped

I wonder what Mark Buehrle's up to. You never know..... -
It'd be great to see Coats get a shot. Although, I'd be nervous to move Melky to full time DH with how he's currently performing. I just don't want to mess with his head/routine.

QUOTE (GreenSox @ Apr 22, 2016 -> 10:46 PM) Ideally a RF; while Eaton's played a good RF, he doesn't have the arm. Status quo is okay too. I think he deceptively has a better arm than people realize. He was 1 of only 15 OF last year to hit 100MPH on a throw. Outfielders Who Hit 100: Fangraphs -
QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) How to fix things. ... Let me adjust this... QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Never let Rollins bat second again. Against RHP, stop while he's hitting this poorly, return to it when/if he can start contributing with an OBP of at least .310 or more. Leave him in 2 hole against LHP. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Got to go with Eaton, Melky, Abreu, Frazier and leave that be for a month as our top four. Last year Melky showed us that he does not hit well in the 2 spot. That makes me nervous. This year he is proving that hitting behind Frazier is fun. I suppose I'd be open to him going to the 2 spot again though, as his career numbers don't show it to be a problem outside of last year. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Flipflop Rollins with Saladino; change their roles. Play them 50/50, whoever provides more value should start to capture the majority of playing time as we go. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Do we have a minor league catcher who can hit .250?? If so, bring him up and have him split time with one of the Avila/Navarro tandem. Release the other guy. Absolutely not to the question and the suggestion. Continue to favor Avilia, but let Navarro take more time if he earns it. No reason to let the first 1/10 of the season make us get hasty here. Especially when Avila is a guy who typically hits better later in the year. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Seriously though, how can anybody disagree that Eaton, Melky, Abreu, Frazier, Lawrie, Saladino as our top six wouldn't be the way to go as the top six in our lineup?? Jackson draws some walks so his .180 batting average might even be OK as No. 7. Probably not a bad idea. Melky could be 2, but if Jackson gets it going, I'd like to see him there. Same with Salad Fingers. QUOTE (greg775 @ Apr 21, 2016 -> 11:11 PM) Release Avi. End of April should be his definitive deadline. Bat him 9th until then. If he's still failing, send to Charlotte, give us Coats. Coats is at the point in his career like Saladino, where giving him full time at bats isn't going to get him closer to his ceiling anymore. Take him now or he'll probably forever in the minors. This team will hit better. We know Abreu and Frazier will improve. Jackson & Avila won't be good offensive players, but you have a pretty good idea of what they will bring compared to what they've given you thus far. We do not know what Rollins can do at this point in his career, we do not know what Avi can do. Regardless, all factors put together, we will be scoring close to an average of 4 a game, whereas right now it's about 3.

Eatons have baby, Adam may go on leave
Marky Mark replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Now that I realize his wife was pregnant and pretty far along with his first child, I guess I see why Adam may have been a little sensitive on that LaRoche issue earlier. Anyways, surprised he was ready to come back so soon. Congrats Eatons! -
I was so excited to see the schedule. To not have work during the 1st game of the season is wonderful. And yes, kid in bed, TV to myself, perfect.

Granted, this is a spring training game, but this is likely representative of what you get with Cespedes at times. I'm ok with not giving him the largest AAV salary in Sox history. Another inside the ballpark homer on Cespedes

QUOTE (Harry Chappas @ Mar 11, 2016 -> 03:40 PM) I know it means nothing but I think it means something to have success in spring....if that makes any sense. Very few teams can flip the switch so to speak. The O's are having quite the ST so far. Makes me happy after their ludicrous signing this off-season.
