Avi Needs to Go

Featured Replies

This topic has been beat to death ya, but he has continued to not show a thing. This team needs to try something else starting tomorrow. He has no approach, his confidence is gone, he provides no value to this team whatsoever...what is he doing here? I don't care where the change comes from, but they can't keep throwing these ABs away and hope to contend. The kid can't play.

If you don't want to give any internal options a try, Mike Morse got released today. He couldn't be any worse than Avi

Just got home and watched. There's no point in playing him. He's just a black hole.

Yes, he could be worse.

He gets two lefties this weekend. If he still looks lost, send him down Sunday night

When you go back and look at his minor league career, it really wasn't that great either. Modest OPS totals. He needs to go down.

Just another massive scouting blunder. Funnier aspect is they thought he could play CF

To think the Red Sox offered Iglesias and we said no.

Had such a good spring....weird

He should have been seeing 80% or more of his ABs against LHP. Instead it's the other way around. Why the f*** they didn't bring in platoon option, any platoon option, is beyond me. He's bad and he's not going to get better anytime soon. Probably is time to give him another two weeks and if he is still hitting like s*** you send him to AAA and tell him to hit his way back to the big leagues.

I think a few AAA bus rides might light a fire under his ass mentally. He's obviously a hard worker but mentally I'm not sure he's MLB material. If he can not sulk and actually put in the effort in AAA maybe he can have MLB future again.

His hands were higher...and all that bulls***.

This thread should be stickied every early march as well. Spring doesn't mean s***.

You have two evaluation errors there, perhaps three (remains to be seen)...

One, on Avi Garcia.

Two, on the fact that they weren't ready to let go of Alexei Ramirez (until it was too late and they'd already missed the chance to get Iglesias. Plus they got nothing in return for him.)

Three, the assumption Anderson would play that position in the future.

Looking back, it's always those little things. Granted, the Tigers have a payroll nearly $80 million higher than the White Sox, but if you put JD Martinez (released), Salty and Iglesias on the White Sox, you likely have a first place team that can compete with almost anyone.

My name is Wilson Betemit, I'm the second most interesting man in the world and I fully support this message.

Avi, Duke and Danks for a bag of balls.

We'll also throw in a set of instructional videos from the Todd Steverson "How to Hit Like a Big Leaguer" collection done in conjunction with world-renowned coach/guru Tom Emanski and Fred McGriff absolutely free if you call in the next 9 minutes.

Just start Saladino and rotate our infield guys at DH for a bit and start Avi two games a week.

Am I crazy or was he considered a "5 tool CF'er" as a prospect at one point?

Send him down, a platoon of Cubs pitchers would be better than our "DH" right now.

Our ability to scout position players is stellar.

Really? That hurts. Kenny or Rick?

It was a 3 way trade in which the Red Sox got Peavy, and gave up Iglesias. We got Garcia and 3 spects from the Red Sox. Save to say we could have just gone directly to them and got Iglesias.

My midyear pie-in-the-sky scenario

Quentin and Morneau DH platoon. If you need 12 pitchers you can still get by if you promote Leury Garcia, who has OF/IF capability. Saladino and him can backup all spots on the diamond besides catching.

Carlos Quentin couldn't even make the Twins.

What year is it? 2008?
