just think, 1 out away from being 2 times this game they had 1st and 2nd, 0 outs, and didnt score come on mackowiak -
Would anyone start Contreras over Danks Sunday?
briguy27 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
oh for crying out loud. start danks, in his last 2 starts, i believe he's pitched 14 1/3 innings (not sure) and has only allowed 3 earned runs combined, and that was being in 2 home run hitting parks (the homer dome and the cell), so i think he will be ok pitching in another home run park, at wrigley and plus, he had the bronx bombers' number all day today. if he can do it vs the yankees with those guys (damon, jeter, a-rod, etc), he can do it vs the scrubs -
yes, it was from sox @ angels on fox saturday on may 5. when i heard that pablo line right when it happened, i laughed for like a minute. just the way a.j. does it, he's awesome

sox win 5-3, eeeeyes! -
QUOTE(rangercal @ May 15, 2007 -> 04:46 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would never bet against the sox. Besides, I fully expect the sox to take 2/3 from the scrubs 2/3? easy there. the cubs have lilly, marquis, and zambrano going, while we will have buehrle, vazquez, and danks (possibly not sure). but even if so, right now for a 3 game series, except maybe contreras, garland, and buehrle, i wouldnt take the sox top 3 pitchers to win or sweep a series over the cubs top 3 (zambrano, marquis, and hill)

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 14, 2007 -> 10:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The thing about Hunter and Ichiro is the money won't be too far off for both and Ichiro is 10X the player Hunter ever has or ever will be and fits this team perfectly. Torii is a slightly above average offensive player who's body is falling apart, he's already lost a few steps in CF anymore and he's going to be Griffey out there. No way is he worth $10M+ over 4 years, I'd rather go after *gulp* Rowand. torii hunter...losing a step? no. 6 straight gold gloves and that play he made vs us on uribe with the bases loaded speaks for itself as for ichiro, i wouldnt say hes 10x the offensive player torii hunter is. maybe was, but is, no. torii hunter is rollin this year offensively, with 8 homers and 29 rbis and a 325 batting average, and even swiping 7 bases. i dont know, maybe i would take ichiro, but torii is a close 2nd

so seriously, as of right now, if the sox could trade their team for the cubs team straight up, would u do it? i mean, the sox have no hitting, but they have to go up, considering u cant go much further down. but the cubs have lee and ramirez, and also marquis and hill. what does everyone think...?

QUOTE(Kalapse @ May 14, 2007 -> 10:11 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Contreras, Garland, MacDougal, Thornton, Vazquez, Hall, Pierz, Konerko, Ozuna, Thome = $70.625 Guaranteed. Uribe = $5M Cintron = $2M Mack = $3.25 ----- $10.25M in options/arb ----- $80.875M Ichiro = $14M Iguchi = $4M Buehrle = $15M Hunter = $12M ----- $45M in Free Agent signings ----- $125.875M before youngsters ----- others = $2.66M ----- $128.535M Total There isn't enough money. well to save some money, we could get rid of iguchi and put ozuna there, and also get rid of cintron. he is horse-$*** and i said maybe both hunter and ichiro. obviously both would be awesome, but prolly wont happen. ill take either one at this point

QUOTE(Melissa1334 @ May 14, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> i agree(although i dont think, even with the year hes having, that erstad will get 6 mill) what i dont like is that, with the exception of ichiro, its the same old lineup yea except ichiro is like a whole new dimension. i know as of now he's only batting around 275 or so, but u know he will heat up, and end at 330ish then maybe we can get him for like 3 years or 4 years, and a contract around 35 mill, and then try to get torii hunter for whatever left over money we have so lets say we get ichiro and torii and resign buehrle. heres the order RF ichiro 2B iguchi DH thome 1B konerko CF torii hunter C pierzynski SS uribe LF sweeney 3B fields

QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 14, 2007 -> 07:52 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder how much that would cost? Trade Crede for Figgins+ (bring up Fields) , don't resign Dye, Gooch, Erstad or Pods. 2008 C - Pierzynski 1B - Konerko 2B - Castillo SS - Uribe 3B - Fields RF - Sweeney CF - Hunter LF - Anderson DH - Thome Bench - Figgins, Hall, Mackowiak, Ozuna, and someone other than Cintron how about this for a batting order for 2008 CF ichiro LF erstad DH thome 1B konerko RF dye C pierzynski 2B iguchi SS uribe 3B fields

QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ May 13, 2007 -> 08:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The Royals have no pitching either. This is the american league, you need to hit to win here. yes i think i know that, but we have to be realistic- we caught de la rosa on a his good day, and we couldnt hit him. plus, its early may, and everyone is panicing. we only have 3 or 4 good hitters right now- uribe, sweeney, erstad, and pierzynski. i think dye and konerko and crede will all be heating up at some point soon (considering anything is heating up, u cant go to far down from where their at) -

why is everyone so down. we've won 6 out of our last 9 games, with a bad offense. just think when our offense heats up (if it does anyway) and stop saying this week is going to suck. the yanks have no pitching, and when they do pitch, they score 1 or 2 runs. and the cubs, in 2005-2006 we have won 4 out of 6 games vs them, and they suck. their very inconsistent. people say their playing well- well yea i hope so, in the past 12 games, they have played the pirates or nationals 9 times. we will win 2 out of 3 vs the yankees and cubs. period. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm sort of wondering about Iguchi's long - term future here at the moment. I saw that Chris Burke got demoted to AAA, and he would be someone who could be an ideal #2 hitter for us in the years to come if we could acquire him on the cheap. I want to sign Ichiro in the off-season though, and for that to happen our chances would increase if the Gooch stayed around here as well. So it's something KW's gotta weigh up here. Of course it's too early to make decisions about players etc. based on this season. ah yes, i have been saying it all along- ICHIRO if they do not resign erstad, i would love to see them go after ichiro. now keep in mind ichiro is already 33 and will be 34 in october. maybe a 3 year 24 million or a 4 year 36 million dollar contract. i would love to see him in a white sox uniform if we cant get ichiro, and if crede is gone, go after a-rod. see what we can do. lets spend some money, and actually get a well known mlb SUPERSTAR in chicago. im tired of everyone saying konerko isnt, even though he has 3 straight season of 40 homers/100 rbis and dye hitting 330 last year with 40 homers and 110 rbis. come on KW, lets get ichiro or a-rod in the cell.

lets hope buehrle can continue pitching well tomorrow and lets beat up scott elarton im gonna say konerko and dye each hit 2 run homers, and the sox win 6-2

great game by big jon, 4 hits, 1 run, 8 1/3 innings- awesome too bad we couldnt get that insurance run in the 8th when pablo got thrown out oh well, SOX WIN!

Guillen leans toward demoting Sweeney

QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 10, 2007 -> 08:44 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why would he lose ABs when Thome comes back? Because Ozzie wants Mackowiak or Ozuna in LF? A lineup with Thome and Sweeney would seem to be the best lineup all year: Erstad Iguchi Thome Konerko Dye AJ Crede Sweeney Uribe well i sorta agree, but how abvout moving sweeney to 2, and and iguchi to 8? that might be too much for sweeney to handle, but with a 5 game hit streak and iguchi bein cold, i want him there -
cbssportsline takes stab at Buehrle to StL angle
briguy27 replied to caulfield12's topic in Pale Hose Talk
i could be wrong, but i think santana is a free agent in the 08 offseason, not the 07 offseason. but like i said, i could be wrong if the sox do get rid of crede and dye at the all star break, they could sign buehrle maybe 6 years, 54 million, and then possibly go after a-rod. i know its a long shot, but hey, its worth it. i also want to see them re-sign erstad. i love the way he plays the game. hes a scrappy guy, hardnosed baserunner, and it seems like everytime he hits the ball, he turns it into a double. if they dont, possibly forget a-rod and try to go after ichiro? we'll see... -
when i was there 2 years ago vs the yankees, the twins were down 6-5 in the 9th, and they had a guy on 3rd with 1 out. all of a sudden, it felt like a 5 degree temperature change, and i did feel little breezes
-
going after joe girardi...brilliant
-
yea, at least 4 or 5, but like we saw yesterday, 4 just isnt enough. when danks pitches, i pretty much have no confidence we will win. thats always good.
-
yea i dont what just happened, i honestly have no comment i dont know why u just dont walk morneau. i mean, with the first swing he took, u just knew he was going to hit a homer, it just had that feel. were up 4-1, and lose 7-4. thats outstanding. i know this was the pitchings fault, but again, only 4 runs. jesus. if ozzie wasnt going to walk him, why not bring in jenks. masset vs morneau? morneau will win that battle every time. what was he savin bobby for? rest? we just had a day off yesterday! i dont know, something has to happen. in the inning we scored 4 runs, it could of been 6-1 after that, but of course konerko and dye have to get their pop outs. thats getting old too. i almost cant watch this anymore... yes, as someone said, i would love to throw a memorial brick at ozzie the "who wants ozzies head" thread should be changed to "who wants to throw a memorial brick at ozzies skull"
