  1. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:25 PM) Oh, you meant like you personally Yessir
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:25 PM) Umm, last Thursday? Haha, I meant me personally. i.e. Actively on the board, refreshing the page, and following along with everyone. I wasn't online when the Quintana trade went down. I was in meetings and kept seeing texts, but couldn't read up on anything until hours afterwards.
  3. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Jul 18, 2017 -> 07:15 PM) Lol, 406 users are reading this topic Feels good to be around when a potential big trade is going down. Haven't been able to do this in a couple years. Forgot how exciting (yet time wasting) it is.
  4. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 29, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) 5 picks, only 1 defensive player, and 3 guys from D2 schools. I hope Pace is as smart as he thinks he is. Pretty confident that he is not. This was a bad draft. I really hope I am wrong, but I doubt it. I can't get over how few picks we ended up with. We badly needed to accumulate picks. This team has too many holes.
  5. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 08:23 PM) This draft is deep in the middle and we trade away picks? Moronic. I'm stunned... but I shouldn't be. I know the Bears are incompetent. I get hyped every year to only be disappointed. I really don't know why I do this to myself. But yeah, incredibly deep draft class and we have needs all over the field and we trade away those assets to get an average QB. Everyone was hyping him in the Fall, so I made a point to watch several UNC games and I was highly unimpressed. As you said earlier, he just isn't good. The sad part is already knowing that we'll do it all over again in 3-4 years with a new front office. I just want competency. Green Bay, Pittsburgh, etc. Teams like that are so well run. Why can't we be that? Football is not hard. It really isn't too much to ask for.
  6. QUOTE (Brian @ Apr 27, 2017 -> 07:23 PM) Why am I a Bears fan? I've been wondering this for the last few years. I may seriously give up. They are my favorite pro sports team, the team I follow the most... but why? They haven't done s*** in my 3 decades on this earth to warrant me caring as much as I do. We are a garbage franchise. What a f***ing joke. Pace sucks. Dude comes into a situation where we are completely devoid of talent and depth, and way behind our peers in the division. And what does he do? He trades away picks in every draft when he should be doing the opposite by acquiring more picks. Don't forget where he traded a 6th round pick for Khari Lee. A UDFA who the Texans were going to cut anyway. Trading up for Floyd was completely stupid last year, and this Trubisky trade... my god, I can't even put into words how bad it is.
  7. That was absolutely absurd. In all my years of flying, I've never seen anything like that. Regarding general airline conversation: Living in Atlanta, I only fly Delta. That's a combination of having status, and the fact that I can fly anywhere non-stop + fares are generally good price. Once I lose status, I'll go back to flying Southwest or Delta - whichever is cheaper. I always liked SW a lot. But I've never heard a good thing about United, which is sad. How does such a major airline have such issues?
  8. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 02:17 PM) Alshon Jeffrey? Oh, never mind Well yeah, that's a topic for another discussion.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Mar 8, 2017 -> 01:17 PM) If there is a ton of guaranteed money, I don't like it. If the guaranteed money is right, I have no major problem with it. If we just sign him and ignore QB in the draft, I'll be irate. Agreed. It's all about the guaranteed money for me. Due to several draft misses in 2014/2015, we don't have many folks up for big contract renewal in the next 2 years. So let's say Glennon gets $30M guaranteed over 2 years (which I still think is bad, but hear me out...), we have so much cap space that it doesn't hurt us much. Where else are we going to spend that money? Fuller? No. Ferguson? No. Sutton? No. Carey? No. Grasu? No. Langford? No. Amos. No. White? Maybe. Goldman. Probably.
  10. QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 7, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) Alex Marvez‏Verified account @alexmarvez 8m8 minutes ago More Not sure if out there but source tells @sn_nfl that @ChicagoBears expected to make push to sign @Vikings UFA WR @ceeflashpee84 Cordarrelle Patterson doing anything for ya? Check my signature... In all seriousness, I've been a firm believer that Minnesota never used CP properly. Is he smart? Probably not. Can he learn a playbook? Maybe. But he's so damn talented, you figure out a way to get the ball in his hands and let him go to work. During the 2nd half of his rookie year they found ways to let him get in the open field (as a RB, screens, etc) and let him do his thing. It was his best year. Then Norv Turner came in and he never did much else. I'd like adding him as a 3rd/4th WR, and yeah, as a return man, he'd be a significant upgrade.

    Lent Thread

QUOTE (raBBit @ Mar 2, 2017 -> 02:15 PM) This is such a problem. I don't have a problem giving up the long drunken Friday/Saturday nights I have a problem giving up the random 2-3 IPAs I have after a long work day with a friend/girlfriend. Ha, I'm the exact opposite. I rarely drink during the work week, but come Friday and Saturday, it's time to go hard. This is likely because I'm single. Oh, and I didn't give up anything for Lent. But I do adhere to not eating meat on Fridays.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 1, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) A new season of SHERLOCK kicks off on PBS tonight!!! I had no idea that Sherlock was back! f*** yes.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 02:47 PM) Who were the playmakers on the 2014 Bears defense? If their players are worse than they were 2 years ago, that's on Pace. The fact is 17 forced turnovers in 2015 set a franchise record low. The 11 this year shattered it. I don't know if it's coaching, what is emphasized, lack of players , luck, or all of the above, but it needs to change quickly. They have had no talent before and forced a lot more turnovers. Pace can draft 6 future Pro Bowlers in April, if the team is 6-10, neither he or Fox will be around for the annual post mortem press conference. He has had 2 off-seasons to fix the entire team. The offense was old and average, the defense was old and horrible, and so was special teams. This was a major rebuild, not some roster that only needed minor tweaking. No doubt this is an important off-season for Pace, but none of his moves so far show incompetence to me. On the other hand, with someone like Phil Emery, it was clear early on that he wasn't the right guy.
  14. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 4, 2017 -> 01:19 PM) We have no playmakers. Without playmakers, you won't get turnovers. It is amazing how we were able to scheme to prevent yardage, but until you have quite a few playmakers, you aren't going to be an elite defense. Right now we have one guy (Floyd) who looks like he could emerge into that and another who has potential, but missed almost the whole year with injuries (Goldman). None of the other players on that roster are what I'd view as difference makers or even potential difference makers (at this point). We do have a lot of solid players though (guys like Willie Young, Freeman, Hicks, Trevathan (pre-injury), etc). McPhee was lousy this year, so who knows what he'll be going forward (you can hope for health, but his track record says don't expect it). Secondary is brutal and needs a dynamic player or two and the front seven could use at least one more dynamic player as well, if not two. I find it interesting we fired our RB coach and oline coach when I actually thought those units were fairly solid. I can't really evaluate Loggains given the fact that we had so many freaking injuries on offense. Well said. Fangio worked a miracle. Most of the players on our defense were guys selected between the 4th-7th round, or undrafted free agents. Sure, you can find diamonds in the rough in those rounds, but they are few and far between - that's why they are called diamonds in the rough. Every elite defense has several 1st round talents on their roster. We had Floyd. That's it. And even then, he's only a rookie and missed 1/4 of the season.
  15. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 24, 2016 -> 12:59 PM) https://mobile.twitter.com/adamjahns/status...732960990490624 Of f***ing course. Just our f***ing luck. Concussion issues are scarier than most any other injury.
  16. Working just a couple hours today by choice. It's a company holiday, but I'm trying to stay on top of a few things since I'm on vacation next week.
  17. Atlanta is certainly worth watching. The trans-racial episode was probably my favorite - I couldn't stop laughing. But also, as someone who has lived in Atlanta for 6 years, the show captures it pretty well. When they talk about getting JR Crickets wings ("swimmin") in the 2nd episode, I about lost my s***. I get Crickets every Sunday for football, and I always get them hot and lemony pepper swimmin'. Hard to understand unless you have lived here.
  18. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 22, 2016 -> 06:08 PM) I would have been tempted to drive it! Haha, I seriously considered it. In the end, I decided the 14 hour drive plus the fact that I had already bought a plane ticket wasn't worth driving.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 23, 2016 -> 07:50 AM) I think redshirt players should be allowed to play. Absolutely. It would be a great idea to allow redshirt players the chance to play without losing eligibility.
  20. I'm all about NFL-bound players sitting out meaningless exhibition games. I would hate to see them get hurt. But also, from a selfish standpoint, unless my team is playing in the Playoff, I'd rather see what the young guys can do. It would be a good chance to see what next year's players are looking like.
  21. Thanks guys. The only downside has been that I haven't been able to really use it. I flew home for Christmas the day after I bought it. Haha.
  22. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 02:09 PM) Thanks. Just checked that out. Looks like it's still about $4,000 lower than the average price people in my area have been paying for the same truck. Guessing this is truly a pretty good deal. Pulled the trigger on this last Friday. Couldn't be happier with it so far. Love it.
  23. Absolutely phenomenal stuff. Great job, Brian, and the rest of the crew.
  24. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 02:13 PM) I am okay with this, but a little concerned too. Seems so ass backwards to be doing this now, especially because I generally like Ryan Pace and think he's done a good job adding talent to this team. When I look at our most recent draft, I smile a lot (Floyd / Whitehair / Howard all look like players to me). Agreed. Some weird rumors going on around the Bears right now. I still don't know where or why the Fangio rumors came from last week, but getting rid of him would be a horrendous idea. He's one of the few good things we have going for us. The only way Fangio should leave Chicago is if he doesn't want to stay.
  25. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:25 PM) "invoice" price is a funny thing. I think you might be better using TrueCar data, and see how much of an outlier that price really is. Thanks. Just checked that out. Looks like it's still about $4,000 lower than the average price people in my area have been paying for the same truck. Guessing this is truly a pretty good deal.
