  1. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:23 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> but he looked to have Cuddyer Kd...That said he is a bit wild too Yes agree, I think that is accurate.
  2. I would bet if there's a marginal strike call against the Sox that Cooper starts yakking and Guillen gets tossed. Which might not be a bad idea as if they are not fired up after that bad inning maybe they need electrotherapy or something.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ May 30, 2007 -> 01:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Is Garland pitching as bad as gameday makes it look? fathom his command is bad. The strike zone is a little funky but he needs to get some outs by making good pitches and he's not. Ok out of the inning, 6-4. This will be a battle to the end, keep the pedal to the medal.
  4. Sac fly for Morneau and now it's the biggest out of the game here. yeah great, rolling breaking ball and poof it is 6-4. All three walks score.
  5. Don Cooper comes out and shows more emotion than any of the players have shown as he chews Garland and Hall out. An amateur lip reading could see several F bombs there.
  6. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 30, 2007 -> 08:34 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Erstad and Pods (if healthy, another KW miscalculation) would have been fine if Crede, Thome, Konerko, Dye, Iguchi and even AJ were providing their "normal" power numbers. Good point, Crede Konerko Dye and Iguchi are underperforming badly. Every GM gambles each offseason. If you gamble too much you lose. White Sox took a lot of risks betting things would go right. Things have not gone right in lots of ways. My guess is the trade market is not open yet all across baseball. I suppose that is normal for end of May. So what do you do. You either stick with your guys and hope they come back to the mean or you rely on your minor league system to give you a spark with a hot hand. Sox have few if any really hot hands at Charlotte or AA. Maybe Owens is due for a look as was mentioned by a poster last eve. Last night was an embarassment and Jackson really called them out on the broadcast. Loved it! One thing i will say is I have seen quite enough of Uribe. Love his defense in general but he is not a heady baseball player, messes up at bats, and does not appear to be a captain out there in the IF. Don't know how you replace him but for one I have seen enough.
  7. QUOTE(winninguglyin83 @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> jerry owens three hits tonight. he's up to .297. Maybe bring him in and see if he can add a spark and not to mention some speed.
  8. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 09:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everything fell into place for him during that offseason. The only competition for AJP was Tampa, and neither the Red Sox/Yankees went after Iguchi. As DA always talks about on here, a lot of guys that KW initially wanted went elsewhere and sucked, like Clement and Kendall. That's the way it goes, that is what happens when you win. Everything fell into place for StLouis last year, everything fell into place for Boston, especially after being down 3 games to NY. Williams bought low on Pierzynski and the same on Iguchi. He did the right thing getting Contreras when he did and the list goes on and on with guys he bought low like that. He was not afriad then and he won't be afraid now, this is a bad embarassment tonight.
  9. The guy doing the best job in the White Sox org. tonite is Darrin Jackson. He is disgusted and he is letting it show and rightfully so.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ May 29, 2007 -> 07:53 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I want some mother f***ing athletes that can run and move on this team, guys that can create (to go with the power bats we have). I'd like to pick up a speedy 2nd baseman and an outfielder that has good speed, can hit for a decent average and field. Yes. Exactly, even if you have to give up somebody you would not want to. Oh and I also think they learn to pitch inside a whole lot better but I am like you I guess, what do I know. 77 pitches for John here and quite a few he'd like back.
  11. QUOTE(caulfield12 @ May 29, 2007 -> 08:01 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And that's the second homer by Morneau off Danks, both times creating a 3-1 lead (I think). Bad pitch location or bad pitch call or both. Nothing wrong with Morneau's execution there though. See mistake, hit mistake.
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 05:24 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There wasn't a bigger fan of KW during the offseason prior to 2005 than myself. He was making moves that made sense. Hell, I even agreed with the Lee for Pods deal. However, after the 2005 season, he became arrogant and thought that Cooper could fix any pitcher and that Ozzie would gel any combination of players into a championship team. KW's comments during this last offseason were pathetic though. See, you keep saying arrogance like it's written in stone. Or true. What you see as arrogance is confidence in his staff, confidence in his talent evaluators, confidence in his coaches and players. What exactly is wrong with him showing confidence? Granted he may have made some player personnel errors in judgement, but using the word arrogance to describe their approach or demeanor is frankly just peeing into the wind and seeing where it lands. Well I call BS. Williams especially cares very very deeply and he trusts his people and he is not afraid. Which I believe he's demostrated more than once. Infallable? No. Arrogant? maybe in a message board world but not in real life. QUOTE(WCSox @ May 29, 2007 -> 05:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So are you laying the blame on Ozzie for the Sox blowing a 6-game WC lead at the break? What about their below-average pitching last year? Don't you think that may have been more to blame? Do you blame Ozzie for a lineup of veterans who haven't been hitting this year? Or a bullpen that's been sucking big-time for the past month and a half? I agree with this. Guillen and Williams make mistakes and they are not perfect. One big error they are making in my opinion is the Cintron situation. He is nowhere near 100% and it's doubtful he will be 100 percent in 2007. They should have had somebody not named Andy Gonzalez with some speed stashed in triple A. If what I hear from guys close to the team is true though you can bet they are looking outside to find a good OF who will help turn this thing around. Is the right guy available, probably not right now but things can change.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 29, 2007 -> 04:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I think another monster was created after winning the WS, and that was the monster known as the arrogance of KW and Ozzie. You are confusing arrogance with confidence/competitive nature but seeing as you want them both fired ASAP I can understand why you say that.
  14. Also consider Williams Wilder Hahn and co. love ground ball pitchers due to U.S. Cell being a launching pad. Who do the Sox have in AAA and AA etc. throwing lots of ground balls, Egbert and Russell come to mind. Which to me says they will resist trading them. However we are talking Ken Williams here. Anything can happen if he has his sights on a certain player. Take for example the Reds as their park is a launching pad too so Krivsky prob. wants the same guys Sox brass wants to keep.
  15. QUOTE(Heath @ May 25, 2007 -> 10:55 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok - I ask for transporation questions and my favorite team is already on a fire sale????? Lots of thoughts - - Thanks for asking, but Homer's gonna be starting in Cincy by July 4th. - You could probably have Griffey - You might be able to get Dunn, since Jerry Narron's an idiot. - I'll pass on Crede. If Encarnacion could hit, he wouldn't have been sent down. He was hit-unlucky and in pressing he started wailing away. There are times now that he's been looking better with plate discipline. - You may have any reliever named Stanton and Weathers. I don't think Wayne Krivsky has officially embraced the Twins philosophy because he's relying on too many vets. If he had the Twins philosophy, he'd be running kids out there. Thanks for the transportation info in the other thread. I like going to Sox games, but the last couple of years has been a pain to get there. Heath, agree with your assesments, Reds wouldn't want Crede as they are trying to build something long term and I don't think Krivsky is anxious to add Boras clients. There could be a match w/the White Sox though if Williams is willing to trade young pitching, that's what Krivsky wants. In another month things will become clearer.
  16. Agree on the thumbs down on Craig Wilson. He strikes out a ton. As for Brad Lidge, I believe The Boras Factor is in play.
  17. Charlotte lost 6 to 5 in 11 innings and also of note, Bret Prinz did not pitch for the Knights. Bukvich went 2 innings.
  18. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 21, 2007 -> 08:39 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Getz not playing for BHam tonite. More bad news .... Getz started but hurt his ankle and was pulled from the game.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 21, 2007 -> 07:31 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> No clue on this one, sorry He hurt his shoulder, I posted also on the minor league board.
  20. Anderson injured his shoulder, not sure which one, how serious, etc. No further details right now.
  21. Church looks to be out for a few games, he took a pitch off the forearm in yesterdays game. Xrays were neg. but he's swollen up.
  22. Don't have further info but Brian was substituted for the bottom of the 3rd in Charlotte's game vs. Toledo. Sweeney is there and has K'd twice and he's playing CF after Anderson was pulled. Toledo put up a 5 spot and leads 5-2. Owens has a double and single thus far for the Knights.
  23. Brady Clark would've been the 4th OF but that ship has sailed. He would have been the guy instead of Terrero. Williams says Owens is "almost" ready so expect to see him at some point. It is no secret to anyone on this site that Williams is cranky right now. I expect to see some bullpen shuffling this week and it's always easier to change the 24th/25th guys on the roster vs. making a major trade. They need someone disruptive. Is Owens that guy, I don't know. Look at Theriot he is a pain in the rear to play against and the Sox need more of his type. Williams said a week or so ago he didn't know what kind of team he had and what is needed, well I think he knows now after that little speech to Chuck Garfien yesterday.
  24. Yeah and when Williams says hey, we want to see who can perform in pressure games and then Sisco does bad, that says something. I think they were hoping a light bulb would go on for Sisco in 2007 but it hasn't happened, same old same old, but he has talent. But he belongs in Charlotte right now.
  25. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ May 21, 2007 -> 02:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I wonder why Kenny was trying to slip Lopez through waivers? So which pitcher who is not on the 40 man roster, is Kenny bringing up? Good question, papers this morning talked about Bret Prinz who has some ML experience although most of it isn't good. I am pretty sure Guillen and Williams are about out of patience with Sisco, just a hunch. Ha Chisoxfn we are thinking alike! Chisoxfn: don't you think Everett burned a bridge with Williams? Also I heard he has gotten big big big, as in not slender. But the Sox never clear a 40 man spot w/out another move in mind. I would love to see a bat brought in. They need a speed RH hitting guy who can cover the OF, Terrero is a warm body but thats it.
