  1. I'm not sure why everyone keeps saying $6M for Erstad in 2008. http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...MLB&id=2252 It's $3.5 million option for the Sox for 2008. If he gets 600 AB's in 2007, Erstad gets the $6M but the White Sox still have the option, i.e. they can decline to pay him $6M and then they'd pay a buyout. I suppose Erstad could get to 600 AB's this year but I doubt it. He's played in 39 of 40 games so far and has 151 AB's. So I guess he is right on track for 600 but he'd have to play in just about every game the rest of the year. Possible, but doubtful. What is much more likely is Erstad gets something less than 600 AB's in 2007 and the Sox pick up his option for $3.5M for 2008.
  2. QUOTE(fathom @ May 20, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He has no one to blame but himself about this pen. The point being, he needs to look forward. It's a fluid game and things need to be reevaluated periodically. Seeing as he blew his stack before the game that tells me he is reevalutating.
  3. QUOTE(quickman @ May 20, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> what is the update on crede, what was the injury strained back
  4. QUOTE(fathom @ May 20, 2007 -> 04:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The only pitcher that should be in Charlotte is Sisco. Agree. And you can bet Ken Williams has his eyes open, I think they need a veteran down in that pen.
  5. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:37 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would assume the A.J. in the clutch and he was teammates with Cotts and caught Cotts and Toby didn't and wasn't factors were taking into thought too. I agree with your thoughts and its only fair that Guillen gets some props for showing faith in the guy who is known to thrive in those spots, right?
  6. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:33 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Crede with tightness in his lower back. Josh Fields, your plane is now boarding. Wishful thinking, cut a trade with the Reds for Freel. He is the energy type guy needed. But back to reality.
  7. QUOTE(fathom @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Real quick: if you pull AJ for Hall in that situation, then you do have a major controversy and big time chemistry issues. Yes you are correct. Unfortunately that would be the case. AJP is tremendously competitive, I mean really really competitive. And he can't keep quiet either, hah. So yes there would have been issues.
  8. QUOTE(RME JICO @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AhP7...p&type=lgns Thank you!
  9. QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:30 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Everyone knows that if AJ struck out, we'd be calling for Ozzies head. But since he hits a grand slam, it was the right move. Props to you, SoxTalkers. Well maybe because thats the nature of being a baseball fan but if you notice a few people said let him hit, he thrives on those situations.
  10. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:28 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> "Everything is irritating me," a visibly upset Williams said. "I hope something changes. I hope we go out there and play to our capabilities to a much more consistent level. This is embarrassing." Heads22 I did not see that quote, where is that from, the official site? My reaction to that is two fold, 1. Good it's about time 2. Uh oh. Someone, or more than one, is going to be shipped out.
  11. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:26 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You have got to be kidding me. Erstad can't run the bases, we get pansted the Lee move again, we somehow DON'T pinch hit Hall for Pierzynski with a lefty out there, and a grand slam. It is just our day, I can't believe how lucky we are, lol. In that situation, with all the emotion and knowing how AJP thrives on that kind of stuff, you let him hit. Yes I understand the %'s and Toby can hit, but seems to me this board is on Ozzie's behind about the lefty/righty stuff, no? Anyway it worked out so we can all be happy!
  12. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Pinch hit Toby That's the logic, yes, but no way do I pull AJP here, he loves these situations.
  13. QUOTE(fathom @ May 20, 2007 -> 03:05 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ozzie's dumbass philosophy of being scared about walking the go-ahead run on base cost us a run there. I can't wait for this idiot to be gone. Yes, well whoever you'd want to replace him would likely do the same thing. Very few if any managers will put the go ahead run on base in that situation.
  14. Masset said he could go, what, 70-75 pitches? And he's at how many now?
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ May 20, 2007 -> 01:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hawk and DJ sound so pissed off. As well they should. The fundamentals are sorely lacking.
  16. QUOTE(fathom @ May 20, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> All we would have had to do is delay calling up Thome one day, and then send the pitcher down after the game. Adding Thome and dropping Sweeney is of course zero sum. Yes they could've sent Sweeney down and brought up a starter for today instead of Thome. It would've needed to be someone currently on the 40 man, since they're at 40. That would've meant Gavin Floyd, who has been on a pitch count anyways. It really has nothing to do with delaying Thome. Had they wanted Egbert or someone similar, it would've meant clearing a guy off the 40 man. So it was Masset vs. Gavin Floyd and that to me is a damned if you do, damned if you don't.
  17. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 06:57 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I don't think there's much doubt that Dye is the worst overall defensive right fielder in baseball. There isn't much doubt about it? Juan Encarnacion, Nelson Cruz, Brian Giles, to name a few.
  18. QUOTE(BearSox @ May 19, 2007 -> 05:55 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Why Logan instead of Thornton? 7-6 is still manageable. Isn't it that they tend to use Thornton when they're ahead, i.e. the set up man? And Logan when they're behind? Let's face it, the players aren't executing. Yesterday it was why MacDougal, why not Aardsma, today Aardsman screws up and etc etc etc. The players are not getting it done.
  19. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:50 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Here comes Wuertz.....not a very good match-up for Dye, as all he throws is low and away sliders. What do you do with Vazquez? Leave him in?
  20. QUOTE(Brian @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bunting was the right call, shame of Uribe. Presume you mean shame on Uribe, if so, agree. Get the freaking job done. They aren't and that's the reason for the frustration.
  21. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:44 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> He's going to start the 7th almost no matter what. And what is your opinoin, what would you do?
  22. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:43 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Grinder at his best....damn those percentages. I'd love to see Juan blast one of these low and in sliders. Yes.
  23. QUOTE(Heads22 @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:41 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Keep him in. Fathom?
  24. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Excellent inning by Javy. Yes, so what do you do next inning? Bring Vazquez back in or go to the pen?
  25. QUOTE(fathom @ May 19, 2007 -> 04:12 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The good thing is that we've never thrown at that cock sucker after the AJP episode. Could not agree with you more on that point. I do have an issue with Guillen on his philosophy there.
