Everything is wonderful. I am still happily married, a college graduate (finally), and I'm going for my Master's Degree. I still travel 3X a year, and am as happy as ever. To top it all off, the White Sox are kicking ass. What more could I ask for? (Besides being famous)?

Even the best hitters are only successful 30% of the time ........ Aaron will be fine. Look at his numbers over his career (even though it's a small sample size) - he's a slow starter who heats up as the weather does. Before this season is over, we'll be singing his praises. He's too good of a hitter to believe otherwise. Good evening, Yasny. I hope all is well with you and yours.

If you hate the Cubs and Twins and love the Sox, you're definitely one of ours. Welcome!

"See, I had a good game. Even a blind dog eventually finds an ass to sniff."

I think Carl has tweaked his groin or hamstring again. He was running great the first month, but he's running gingerly now, and he's about as fast as a dinosaur now. Oh wait - he doesn't believe in dinosaurs. Never mind.

I wanna see Baj. NOW.

If the team is 32-14 with absolute minimal hitting, just imagine how good they could be if the bats ever heat up. Whoa. Buehrle is one of the Top Ten pitchers in MLB right now. I'm glad he's ours for a few more years. P.S. I wish I had bought some stock in Rolaids and Zantac, since this team forces me to overdose on both every day. But it's cool - panic attacks, heartburn, and stomach ulcers are worth it to see my beloved Sox greatly succeed. Rock on!

QUOTE(redandwhite @ May 22, 2005 -> 08:42 PM) I am a rich man. Whats a nickel? It's something I get everytime Joe Crediocre has a bad at-bat. I figure I'll be able to have enough money to retire sometime in July.

Actually, if you do some simple research, the baskets were put in so that none of those drunken dumbf***s could fall on the field and injure themselves. I say take down the baskets and let the idiots fall headfirst on the field all day long. It will just purify the gene pool by getting rid of the terminally stupid.

QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ May 23, 2005 -> 10:06 PM) Did you see the Baseball tonight where he was talking about a game he made an error on a popfly and the production crew found a clip they THOUGHT was that, but when it played it was a differant one. It made Reynolds look like a horrible fielder. I laughed. I saw that, and he was obviously embarrassed. It was hilarious! As for the Uribe play - if Derrek Lee is that dense and clueless, then he deserves what he got. Can you imagine if he had tweaked a hamstring or groin stopping at 2nd base?

Baj all the way. Jenks isn't ready just yet, Adkins has been getting rocked, Viz sucks worse than a $5 crack whore, and there's no "other" which jumps out at you and screams "bring me up!"
-
A Twins infielder pulled that SAME PLAY against Lonnie Smith in the 7th game of the 1991 World Series - which caused the Braves to not score and the Twins won 1-0 - and no one said a damn thing about it except how "smart, ""savvy," and "intelligent" it was. It's just the Flubs crying about yet another stupid play made by their roster of morons. If the Cubs don't like it, tough s***. Dusty Baylor should just shut his trap - every time he opens that Gateway To Hell he calls a mouth, he just continues to show what a lobotomized chimp he really is. You tell 'em, Duncy.

With the Beck song "Loser" playing in the background ..... "Hey, I put a batting cage in my basement. What else can I do?"
-
Yes, that is the M.O. - they usually struggle mightily against guys they've never seen, or "junkballers" who throw a lot of offspeed crap. As for Joe Crediocre and Juan Your-Ebay, the Sox can afford to have ONE of them scuffling at the plate, but when BOTH of them are struggling, it just kills the lineup. And if Crediocre isn't going to hit, then he needs to be rock-solid defensively, and obviously he wasn't. He's just an average player, if that. We should just accept it for what it is.
-
Iguchi has been one of the team MVP's thusfar. I'm sure you could get Morgan Ensberg or Joe Randa for a decent price, since the Astros and Reds are going nowhere fast.

QUOTE(Jabroni @ May 23, 2005 -> 11:48 PM) Are you sure? I thought this was him... Great minds think alike. "GAS CAN!"
-
Does Vizcaino have a clause in his contract that requires him to give up a run every time he makes an appearance? Geezus. He's the 2005 version of Billy Koch. :banghead
-
I can't wait to see Baj up with the parent club. Yes, he gave up a lot of hits when he came up last year, but a lot of them were seeing-eye singles and bloop hits. It's not like he was getting rocked. As for GasCan Vizcaino, it's not even the hits and runs he's given up - it's the walks. A hit won't always hurt you unless you've walked guys in front of the guy who got the hit.
-
I would love to have Brad Lidge (who wouldn't?), but he'll cost you a TON in prospects, and I don't want to gut the farm system after it's been getting built up again.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ May 23, 2005 -> 09:50 AM) wow, Valentin and excellent defense should not be in the same paragraph. Have you watched the team prior to this year?? Yep - I've been watching them for over 30 years. A lot of Jose's throws were comical, but he had a great arm, great range, and made errors on grounders that other SS's couldn't even dream of reaching. But he's gone now, so it's a moot point. When I look around baseball at the other 3B, I see guys who are over the hill, guys who make a ton of money, or guys who are no better than Joe Crediocre. I think we're stuck with him, unless the Sox want to move Uribe to third and pick up a SS.

I would rather have a solid starting staff full of a couple of #2's and a few #3's than have a staff that has a #1 and four #4's. And Buehrle is close to "ace" status, IMO. If he threw 95 and whiffed 10-14 every game, this wouldn't even be an argument. So he doesn't blow hitters away - he still gets them out, whether it's a strikeout or not, so gives a s***? The main objective isn't to strike hitters out, it's to get them out no matter how you do it. If you want K's from your starting pitcher and huge pitch-counts (which are hand-in-hand usually), then let's trade Buehrle for Kerry "Balsa" Wood. Would that make people happy? K's are OVERRATED for a starting pitcher. I'd rather have a guy making 4 pitches per hitter who gets an out than someone who needs 8 pitches per hitter to get his precious "strikeout." What a load of crap.
-
Uribe and Crede would be GREAT bench players for a top-notch team, but they're not starters, IMO. And we are now a top-notch team. Read into that what you will. We could deal with either of them coming off the bench, but having both of them in the starting lineup with their non-selective, hacking bats and POOR avg w/RISP is a recipe for disaster. Even with the hot start that the Sox have had, I would embrace and applaud an upgrade at either position, if not both. The 7th inning in yesterday's game was their weaknesses wrapped up in a nice little microcosm.
-
So were Valentin and Clayton, and what did that get us?
-
I'd be more interested in getting a consistent SS that isn't as up-and-down as a rollercoaster (with HUGE slumps every season), or maybe picking up a 3B who can have more than just one good month each year.
-
If Borchard could face Vizcaino regularly, he'd be the AL Batting Champ.
