  1. When a player's hitting coach openly states that a player doesn't get it, or chooses not to get it, (which Greg Walker has stated about Crede this season more than once), I'm going to put a lot of stock in that opinion, since Walker sees him every day and works with him one-on-one. If I had my way, the 2005 Sox infield would consist of Koskie/3B, Uribe/SS, Harris/2B, and Konerko/1B. I like Bill Mueller a lot too, but he's pretty bad defensively, and his range is not all that good. Uribe has always had great range and great hands, and I believe he learned a lot from this season's month-long slump, and he will make the necessary adjustments to his swing when he needs to in the future.

I hope he has a parachute and inflatable raft.

    Mt Dew

I've noticed that too. In the Midwest, we usually call it "pop." On the east coast, I've heard a lot of people call it "soda." On the west coast, I've heard them refer to it as "soft drink." I don't care for the orange Mountain Dew - it tastes too much like the now extinct (thank goodness) orange Slice.
  4. Speaking of Freddy Garcia, the Sox flagship just reported that he will make his next scheduled start. That being said, if he's having ANY type of discomfort, I would shut him down. We're going to be counting on him to win at least 15-17 games next year.
  5. I only got to the Seventh Level. I'm such a loser. I can't even be an evil heartless asshole the proper or right way. **SIGH** :banghead :headshake
  6. "Yesterday is long gone, and tomorrow is never guaranteed. But today is a gift, that's why they call it the 'present'." Or whatever that phrase is.
  7. You're thinking of Felix Fermin. A true specimen of "baseball garbage." I just think we need to revamp the left side of the infield - Joe Crediocre is hitting .227 with questionable defense, and Pornstache Valentin is hitting .221 with questionable defense. Now that's some top-notch production right there, folks. What you're seeing from Crede is what you will always see. I'm not a professional scout, but I have been watching baseball for 25 years, and I'm telling you that he will never be much better than he is right now. He's Tim Hulett with a little more power ---- seriously. :sleep
  8. Does that include a chopping block? I shouldn't be so hard on the guy, but I get frustrated sometimes. I'm human, you know. But so is he, so I'll just chill and give him the benefit of the doubt.
  9. I would like to see Sandy as the bench coach. That would allow Harold Baines to nap in peace without any distractions. Plus, as a former catcher, he has knowledge of and a good feel for opposing hitters and their tendencies. He'll probably end up as a manager in the minors, which might be a smart move in case Ozzie's canned in the future.
  10. Plus, don't forget the very strained relationship that Jerry Reinsdorf has with Scott Boras (although a lot of people have trouble dealing with him, when you get right down to it).
  11. Grilli looks exactly like all the other 5th starters - pure s***. 3 walks and a 2 hits (including a blast) for the Injuns, 5-0 Tribe IN THE FIRST INNING. What's sad is that if the Sox faced all our 5th starters, they would probably be no-hit.
  12. Hell, we don't want his sorry ass, so why would anyone else? Believe me, scouts around the league must be laughing hysterically whenever he takes the mound. But besides the one bad inning he has every game (3-4-5-6 runs given up), he's a true stud.
  13. It's over for Sandy. But I look forward to having him as part of the White Sox coaching staff for many years. As a player - he's DONE. But applaud his career - it was pretty good.
  14. This is all I could come up with from another site: Then Williams dropped the bomb in Detroit, suggesting that Ordonez, who was a tight squeeze in the budget when he was healthy, is certainly too much of a gamble for a 2005 team that will be built around starting pitching. Ordonez, 30, has no hope of landing the five-year, $70 million contract he was seeking in April. But the New York Mets and San Francisco Giants remain interested, even if there are lingering concerns about his left knee. Ordonez might have to settle for a one-year, incentive-heavy contract in the range of $8 million to $10 million. But he will get a decent offer somewhere. He just won't get that offer from the Sox, who have pitching dominating their thoughts.
  15. The best CF in the AL is Torii Hunter, like it or not. His offense is streaky, but he still hits .275-20-75 every year, and robs people of hits and HR's. And his intangibles as a team leader are often overlooked. Just look at what he did to us - his "cheap shot" busted the balls and shot down the cockiness of the Sox to the point that we just folded the tent and decided to lay down and play dead. The team is what - 9-29 since he took out Burke? Enough said.
  16. Remenber what we did to Chad Durbin last night? You're about to witness the same thing today, although we will be the ones taking down our drawers to take it up the keister. Grilli is nothing more than minor-league fodder. But then again, so is 97% of our minor leaguers. Nice scouting, guys. :fyou
  17. DBAHO is already up to no good. I bought a 24-pack of Miller Lite last night for the weekend, and when I went to my fridge, I found a 24-pack of Foster's instead. I say we ban him forever. Congratulations to you 3 knuckleheads.
  18. I predict that the Sox will win this game 12-4, with Rowand, Valentin, Konerko, and Crede all hitting home runs. I shouldn't go out on a limb like this, but why not?
  19. Kent Benson will be a very solid starter the second and will help whoever gets him. If he ends up in Minnesota, that makes winning the division that much tougher. It's not Kent Benson I'm worried about, it's KRIS Benson. You know what I mean?
  20. You got that right, mi amigo! Pink Floyd RULES!!! I saw them as a kid during the "Animals" and "The Wall" tours in Soldier Field. My hippie pothead parents probably didn't know it, but those shows influenced me forever. I didn't understand the lyrics then, but I do now! Kick ass!!
  21. As Elvis used to say, "Thank you, thank you very much." He also used to say "Hey, you stepped on my blue suede shoes, so now I'm gonna pop a pill," but I digress. I turned the ripe old age of 33, but I don't feel a day over 32. Whew! Thanks again for the well wishes. I basically just spent the day with my wife at home, since I got food poisoning on Monday. And yes, I did enjoy my strawberry pie (I really hate cake for some reason).
  22. where all fans are given a GONG as they enter!!! As opposed to the North Side, where it seems like all fans are given a BONG as they enter. rolleyeyes.gif
  23. And Finley does have power, which is an added bonus. However, Finley's agent keeps saying that he wants to go to San Diego really bad since they are winning, and he loved the city when he played there. In response, I would explain to him that Chicago is a better place to be. We play in "The Cell" - they play in "The Litterbox." They have the Pacific Ocean - we have Lake Michigan. They have flounder and kelp salad - we have pizza, beef sammiches, and polish sausages. Their fans are wishy-washy - our fans are rabid and passionate. They have tall buildings - we have SKYSCRAPERS. They have surfers - we have architects and artists. Plus, our ballpark is MUCH MUCH more conducive to home runs, which would help a player who could beef up his stats AS HE GOES INTO HIS CONTRACT YEAR. It's pretty much an easy sell, quite frankly.
  24. To somewhat add to SoxAce's post, we don't need another "bopper," we need someone who is a decent OPS guy who can get on base for the other guys to knock in. Oh yeah, I'd prefer a lefty.
  25. One of the big reasons the Sox are a winning team is because the team can usually outscore/outslug the opposition. Maggs and Frank gone REALLY hurts the offense. After what Maggs' doctor said, I don't think he'll be back this year. He won't be able to walk for a month, and he has a lot of bleeding in his knee. Ugh. I just hope Kenny goes out and acquires a decent hitter and a high-quality reliever. Then we'll just roll the dice and see if we roll some "7's" for the rest of the season.
