  1. ...and a high pitch, too. TREMENDOUSLY good sign!!! Needs to learn how to cheat up-and-in like JoeyBats. Maybe he will.
  2. QUOTE (Baron @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:42 PM) Lets go Viciedo! Oh my!!! Where's Marty! Get ready ADDY!!!
  3. QUOTE (Jake @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:37 PM) Hector has an adequate curveball, it's just inadequately controlled. All of his secondary pitches are okay, but never calling for them makes their ineffectiveness into a self-fulfilling prophesy. This is why he should be starting in AAA Yeah, I don't know why they haven't done this. He's plenty young, and we've got other guys, like Septimo, that could get the job done, perhaps, at least as well as Hector's currently doing it. To me, this is a rebuild-on-the-fly opportunity, to possibly develop another starter.
  4. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:32 PM) Santiagos talent just traveled 400 feet. Ha ha, great timing, huh?
  5. Hector has talent, don't give up on this kid.
  6. Another lousy AB by Paulie in the clutch. One more chance.
  7. This is excellent work by Axe tonight. If nothing else, preserves the Pen for the next three. Now let's steal this one right now!
  8. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 04:15 PM) No conflict at all. With or without Viciedo there's not a lot to build around after this year, dude. This is ridiculous. We'll have plenty to build around including two top of the rotation starters (One way or another, Peavy will be a Sox next year), a legit leadoff hitter, 3rd and fourth starters named Danks and Floyd (if we choose), an improving second basemen, and several improving arms closer to the majors. But if you want to be all gloomy, so be it. Marty wants a full rebuild that allows zero time for player development. That'll work. Anyhow, I think Dan Johnson is irrelevant, as I'm predicting a Thome return as long as we're in it and the Phils aren't at the deadline. It will cost literally us nothing as the Phils will be happy to help Gentleman Jim out and they're not exactly cultivating him as a trade chip. Where else is he gonna want to go in his final year of ringchasing? Besides, I want to see him and Dunn together.
  9. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 06:19 PM) HR ADA 1-0 Sox. Awesome, ADA! Cano got the good scouting report tonight, damn it.
  10. Well done, jammed his Yankee A$$!
  11. Damn, we're hanging out some rope, with no results. Gotta get DA the lead SOON.
  12. Nice work Axe - keepin it down nicely.
  13. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 05:44 PM) Find another place than CF. Exactly.
  14. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 05:37 PM) Now predicting that Axelrod will likely get shelled 2nd and 3rd time thru the lineup Well need runs before then. To pseudo-paraphase Hawk, in this park, it's not what you hit, it's where you hit it. Ride the straightaway RF Jet Stream to Victory! Now the most stupidly-easy HR in the game - supplanting the Crawford Box in Houston, IMO.
  15. QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 10:40 AM) June hasn't been kind to Viciedo (.162/.230/.250). If it weren't for the fact that the Sox are trying to keep his trade value up, he'd be in a platoon by now. Good one!
  16. I think Theo is a fantastic GM and has a great track record overall. However his performance since 2007, with the resources and assets that the BoSox have, has been mediocre. Many, many GM's have outperformed Theo in that span. But the same nuthugger pundits that built his reputation in the first place, can't find the cajones to criticize him when it's warranted. Call it the "Tony Romo" effect.
  17. QUOTE (ScottyDo @ Jun 28, 2012 -> 07:04 AM) That year, Jake Peavy won the Cy Young, Jimmy Rollins won NL MVP, Mike Lowell was World Series MVP and buying houses was, like, the smrtest investment EVAR! Well said. Things change.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2012 -> 09:42 PM) Veal and Septimo have similar numbers, and similar control issues. But Check the L/R splits... Septimo is death for lefty bats, Veal is actually better against righties. Also, Septimo has seen his control improve since he got into the sox system, and as this year has gone on. Give me Septimo over Veal. Agree with this, but admittedly basing opinion off limited stats and not anything I've seen. I voted Veal for WILL and Septimo for SHOULD. I think they'll go with the slightly more experienced player. It will be fun to see someone else than WO, though, won't it?
  19. I guess you could say at this point that Rios has been our most consistent position player all year, which is a staggering thought. Lexi possibly warming up is at least a little encouraging. If he gets hot, put him in the two hole until he isn't - not really kidding. We'll probably have all the sluggers get hot again at the same time, but who can say when this contagion of offensive suck will end? That said, it's still more impt that good Gavin may be back. I currently have confidence in 4/5 of our rotation, going into their next start, and that ain't too shabby.
  20. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 05:15 PM) He is the only site owner to ever win a WS in Chicago. Amazing. You really can't overestimate how he kept all the posters loose that year, and deflected criticism to himself. And the "tough love" approach he took with inexperienced posters was invaluable.
  21. QUOTE (CanOfCorn @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 04:05 PM) Shaky ground? Sure, they threatened to move...but that was a loooooong time ago. They aren't going anywhere...that horse has sailed. And yes, no matter what, they are still in the third largest market in the country and there are enough 1%ers that think owning a team is tantamount to wealth. Moving the stadium...again, that horse has sailed. They had their chance with the McPier group and it didn't work. Where else would it go? Suburbs? The better option is to try to make that area better...and it's happening slowly with the Cork and Kerry and the new bar on premise taht I can't remember the name of now. Love it, whether intentional or not. Hmmm, sailing horses, what would that look like...?
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 02:39 PM) In a related story, they added a picture of Gavin Floyd to the dictionary under the entry for "Mauers b****". Good one. And in an unrelated story, does everyone have the singles.net advert at the top of the page today? How does that girl even stand up?
  23. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 26, 2012 -> 02:34 PM) JoeChristensen ‏@JoeCStrib Joe Mauer's plate appearances vs. Gavin Floyd since Aug. 12, 2010 : 4-3, 1B, IBB, IBB, 2B, 1B, HR, 1B, IBB, HR, 2B, 1B, HP, 1B, BB, IBB Double ouch. Nothing but low curves G, and if you walk him, so be it.
