  1. this years Sox team beats themselves way too much for me to get overly excited about the rest of the season, but if they can shore up their D and a few of the veteran guys can start hitting at least .260 i'll be more optimistic
  2. Don't need to post your specific location in a post or anything, but I was just curious how many Sox fans here aren't actually IN Chicago. For starters, I'm down here in the Peoria area. Which really sucks, because 95%+ of the baseball fans down here, aren't even really true baseball fans, they just root for the "Cubbies" because it's the cool thing to do. Or they're straggler Cardinal fans. Even our local sports shops rarely carry Sox gear other than Caps (Jersey's are hard to find, it's usually Cubs/Cards garbage)
  3. anybody know why we don't play boston more than twice a year? and it isn't just this year, this is like every year, the last time we played them more than two series (home once/away once) was in 2000, and 2003 probably not a particular reason for it, just found it curious
  4. we've now eclipsed the "Mighty" tigers in Runs Scored on the year with 200 vs 192 and also LOL @ us only playing 16 total home games so far vs 27 away games, who made this bulls*** schedule? we're the only team in the american league with less than 19 games played at home (CHW: 9-7(16), TOR: 10-9(19)) BS if you ask me
  5. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 18, 2008 -> 03:55 PM) ... what game are you watching? the one where danks already has 3 walks and a wild pitch, you?
  6. danks @ 58 pitches through 3, efficient. QUOTE (Reddy @ May 18, 2008 -> 03:51 PM) not his fault... he was definitely getting squeeze on that outside corner but if you're watching the game on TV, a lot of those balls weren't even close to the plate. not.even.close.
  7. yeah let's keep walking the worst offense in baseball (besides us)
  8. ETA until this offense gets no-hit?
  9. throw the damn cutter on 3-2 here to cain
  10. alright john, you've went away away away one too many times now, stop doing it
  11. i'd like to win tomorrow (Danks you can do it, has been stellar all year IMO) and go home 7-3 on this road trip and take at least 2 from cleveland (their pitching has been absolutely dominant just like ours has, and their hitting has been brutal. fitting that we share almost identical records) one thing we have on cleveland though, is our bullpen. Dotel > Linebrink has been awesome as a 1-2 punch to get to jenks, whereas Cleveland has seen some struggles with betancourt and perez and their closer is in limbo right now alternating between a couple guys here and there has anyone seen Cliff Lee pitch this year with their own eyes? i haven't myself, how good has he been REALLY? is this all smoke and mirrors or is he legit now? edit: just looking through his stats this year, he has a 1.22:1 ground out to flyout ratio, he's only walked 4 guys all year, 0.67 ERA, 0.67 whip in 53 f***ing innings, are you kidding me? he's going to dominate this lineup who tries to be overly patient no matter which pitcher they're facing. these guys need to read more into scouting reports before the games and take a proper approach. sanchez was known to be overly wild and tends to walk a lot of guys, yet we only had what, 3 walks? some pitchers, you just need to take the 1st or 2nd pitch and attack it, because guys like Cliff Lee will make you pay if you don't, I hope our guys get the memo when we face him for the first time
  12. 05/22/2007, 42 games into the season CHW 23-19, 4 games over .500 (WPCT: .548) 3.5 out of 1st Place (3rd in Div) 6-4 in last 10 games Home: 11-9 Away: 12-10 RS:178 RA:186 05/18/2008, 42 games into the season CHW 22-20, 2 games over .500 (WPCT: .524) 1st Place 7-3 in last 10 games Home: 9-7 Road: 13-13 RS:187 RA:162 overall, in the grand scheme of things we aren't really better than we were last year and in terms of record, we managed to be playing better in terms of wins/losses in 2007 after 42 games, and we were still only in 3rd place comparing last year to this year, though, we gave up 24 more runs last year after 42 games, and scored 9 fewer runs than this year. so we're scoring more (slightly...) and allowing much fewer runs, but we have a worse record to show for it this offense is hard to watch a really good team absolutely destroys the giants yesterday against Zito but, what can you do..
  13. probably the ugliest shut-out i've ever seen but i'll take it edit: that homerun swing alexei had was absolutely beautiful, i must say.
  14. Javy lowers his ERA by ~3%! lol seriously though, we need to destroy the giants.
  15. AJ, Jim, CQ, Javy, Bobby first win without a homerun nice game, split, currently 4-3 on the road trip so far let's sweep the giants and go 7-3
  16. no walks, throw get me overs if you have to, make this fool hit the damn ball. nice smart pitching, threw two fastballs down the middle instead of nibbling, then gets the out at 1st. lets end this.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:06 AM) The commentary on Hawk in here every game makes me glad I mute it and put on 670. 7 second mandatory delay pisses me off though, i hate the delay between the two
  18. nice strike! hahahahaha, can't believe ump gave him that.
  19. QUOTE (fathom @ May 16, 2008 -> 12:04 AM) Think either Willits or Izturis will try to bunt with Jenks on the mound? most likely
  20. anybody feel like going through the game logs and checking how many games so far this year where we had the lead going into the 9th inning, without hitting a homerun in that game?
  21. krod misses a strike call on the inside, definitely a strike though javy had a few of those called balls today also, ump not seeing that part of the plate
  22. jesus thome comes through finally, i liked his approach. 1-0 count, you HAVE to be aggressive with 2 outs and a runner on 3rd, and thome didn't wait around for it thank you Jimmy
  23. jd HAS to get this runner in, no exceptions, not with thome on deck.
  24. advances the runner to 3rd, gave it a ride Carlos but it wasn't meant to be can we end the Cabrera leadoff experiment now? AJ > CQ > Dye is what i want the 1-2-3 to be
