  1. Pathetic. Just f***ing pathetic. Words cannot describe how pissed off I am right now.
  2. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Hey Yahtz. Thanks for sharing your site with the rest of us. I like the format for the most part. Its a clean look, the only thing I'd like to see format wise is a little more color or pictures, specifically where the main story is. Haven't read enough of the content yet so I can't comment on that, but I'm looking forward to seeing the development of the site and I think the basis is definately there. I should add based on experience from SoxNet, that I think some of the key things for a Sox website is to make sure you can provide a unique type of content. Game Recaps are nice, especially if you can do them every day. It adds a story everyday and shows a committment, but I also think one of the big keys is to be able to roll out a couple stories a week that offer an outside perspective in a sense. If you see a player struggling, maybe have a story about that player and what he's doing wrong and the adjustments he needs to make. Or have a statistcal type breakdown, kind of like Cheat and some others do (he absolutely rules at that stuff). You could also break down speculative news and talk about the reasons you feel the move was made or analyze something the Sox did. I think all of those things give the site an opportunity to say something different and unique and will help it build a following. I did like the standings section on the minor league section. Very nice looking. In fact the backend details of the site are quite nice. Good luck yahtz and like I said if you ever have any questions in terms of running the site and further develop it, don't hesitate to ask me. Note: I want everyone to know Yahtzee asked me before posting this whether it would be ok to post about his new website. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks for the words, Jas. Like you said, original content is the key. I know for sure I don't have any original content. I'll think of some things and jot them down and maybe I'll have 15-20 ideas or so in a couple weeks and I'll run them by my writers to see what they think. Trust me, this is not the extent of the website.
  3. QUOTE(JimH @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 01:15 PM) Ok, I checked it out ... I do not want to hurt anyone's feelings but here is my impression: The game recaps are the same thing anyone can read in the daily newspapers or on the newspaper websites. IMO there's really not a need for yet another game recap ... anyone can get a recap on the main White Sox site. The articles are all linked to the forum at southsiders.net , as is the forum link itself. Nothing wrong with that but to say in your post that it's not a forum is a little misleading, most of the content leads to the southsiders.net forum . It's always good when Sox fans have multiple places to go and talk about the team or gather information, but I don't see anything on the site that's any different or better than what's already available at numerous other sites. The whole thing seems like a duplication of what's out there, with the exception of the forum. whitesoxwired.com seems more like a feeder site to get people to know about southsiders.net than anything else. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well when I posted the site I wasn't thinking more of getting people to click the links, just check out the design and read a couple articles on the main page. The Beat articles do link to southsiders but that's because I haven't really added a section for the Beat articles. And the News thing I use doesn't allow anchors (which I wished that is freakin' did, then I could just anchor the articles instead of linking to the forum). And all articles have the "click here to discuss is" but that's pretty normal. Like I said we don't have a lot of original content right now, the game recaps are pretty normal. Okay writers. At this point and time it's just a couple Sox fans just having fun (at least to me). I have some idea's I'm thinking about implementing but keep in mind the site is not even a week old and at this point and time I'm just trying to gather thoughts on everything. Thanks for the post.
  4. Does anyone know if CSN is going to do the pregame batting practice thing again like they did when we were at Wrigley?
  5. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 01:11 PM) Good luck with the site dude. There is always a use for more good Sox content on the web. If you want me to add it to the links on the PTC blog, I will, just let me know. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Thanks southsider. Though it would be a really cool thing if it is successful, I'm not gonna lose any sleep if it bombs. But, hey, if you wanna add it to the PTC links that's cool.
  6. QUOTE(hi8is @ Jun 25, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) u like dredg? <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
  7. I imagine your car will draw many "wtf is that" stares.
  8. Hey all you Sox fans. Recently I decided to make my own White Sox website. Helps give me something to do over the summer and the long boring winter. There isn't much content to it right now, I'll admit that. It's nothing near was WSI (the website, not the forum) is and probably never will be. But check it out and tell me what you think. www.whitesoxwired.com (Oh, and if you find the time please click the ads)
  9. And be a juke box hero, got stars in his eyes He’s a juke box hero He took one guitar Best.Ringtone.Ever.
  10. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jun 22, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) How exactly do you take the car when your 15? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> LOL Anyways, I'm an office boy pretty much. I quit White Hen and now I'm a tech guy at Vision Friendly.com. It's pretty cool. I have my own desk and stuff and I work and visit the internet sometimes.
  11. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jun 21, 2005 -> 03:09 PM) 1) Jeff Brantley (I think) from ESPN berrates Ozzie for his use of his bullpen during a game in which the White Sox lose. He went off, and basically made Ozzie seem like an idiot (meanwhile we had the best record in baseball. This is never done on ESPN, yet the only time it is done is to ridicule the manager of the best team in baseball? I'm sure Dusty Baker has done a few more questionable things this season. 2) ESPN the Magazine, to which I recently unsubscribed, has written articles about the Orioles and the Dodgers for their fast starts, all the while the Sox have had the best record, and look at what happened to the Dodgers. They also had a huge story about the poor Cubs, and their curses (with a half page insert about the White Sox.) 3) They make a huge deal about "Umpire Mistakes" only after the game in which they televised involved an umpire mistake which let Scott Podsednik safely into first base. 4) They have the Washington Nationals as the number one team in the power rankings (eastern team), compared to two central teams that have the top records in baseball (White Sox/ Cardinals) 5) During Sunday night's game on ESPN, though the White Sox were the team being televised, they had a special about some country singer and his love for the LA Dodgers, whom the Sox were playing, and then a 5-minute documentary on the CUBS! THE CUBS?? WHAT THE HELL?? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> 1) So? Everyone here was crucifying him, why can't ESPN? 2) White Sox don't sell magazines. 3) It was a huge bluff by that ump. Everyone in the world knew he was out. 4) Power rankings aren't records. Power rankings are weekly for the best teams of the week. We got smashed by 'Zona 2 games and our pitching has not bee good. Why should we be number 1, cause we sweep an injury ridden team? 5) Unless you are blind/deaf tehey also did a special on the Sox.
  12. Look, Wendelstedt is thr 3rd base ump today? Means he won't be home base ump for us this series.
  13. You can get some nice customized skins too. Not the default ones that come with Windows.
  14. Situational stats show Brazoban gives up most of his runs first pitch. So, that leads me to believe he throws a lot of first pitch fastballs. Pound that fastball.
  15. These games where none of your line drives falll.... god they kill me.
  16. QUOTE(Leonard Zelig @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 12:51 PM) Pink Floyd made one album with Roger Waters after The Wall, it was called The Final Cut, although keyboardist Rick Wright did not play on it for reasons I do not know. So the last time the main 4 members played together was sometime on The Wall tour. The Pink Floyd that has been performing since, has added about 8 members through extra drummers, keyoards, guitars, female vocals, and a saxophone player. All of which are completely unnecessary in my opinion, check out the DVD Pink Floyd: Live in Pompeii, for an example of how powerful that group could be live with only 4 pieces. The origional Pink Floyd hasn't played together since around 1968, of course. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I dunno this is kinda me but I don't consider the Final Cut Pink Floyd. But that's just me. And yeah man, Pompeii is one hell of a great movie. I watch it all the time.
  17. QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 06:22 AM) So where were you a week ago when I was trying to get people to notice this monemtous occassion, Yatzee? http://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?sh...5174 <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I kinda figured you'd be on top of this Jim. oh well,
  18. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 01:35 AM) Yahtzee I have a quetion. When was the last time Pink Floyd played together as a group? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> DBAH0 you just brought out the Pink Floyd nerd in me. Anyways "Pink Floyd" played in 1994. This is the Pink Floyd with 3 of the 4 band members, not including Roger Waters who, above, just agreed to perform with them. Now, with Roger... I think it was about 1981 or so. After The Wall things pretty much turned sour and he left the band. For the past 20 years they've been in all sorts of lawsuits and stuff involving lawyers and sniping but now it seems they've set aside their differences for a good cause. This is Pink Floyd, not for money, but for a good cause. Roger's a bit of an asshole but I respect him a lot more for this.
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jun 17, 2005 -> 12:17 AM) I could personally care less, but I know there are alot of people that really think this is kick ass stuff. Why the hell can't people respect that? Sometimes, I don't get people. /rant over <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ^^^^ The epitome of a quality post. But kap I don't think people were trashing the band and personally I could care less if people do because that's their opinion and opinions are cool.... but to come in a thread and start hijacking it by talking about random garbage? Well, that's not cool. Like I said, the post I flipped out about got deleted and it's all cool now. Then some guy on a mighty horse had to come in here and start s*** up again. :headshake
  20. QUOTE(YahtzeeSox @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:20 PM) What else should I expect from Soxtalk? If you don't got anything positive to say, go the f*** away. I don't care if you don't care. Stop spamming my thread just for the sake of posting, because that's been happening way the f*** too much around here. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Just so there is no confusion this post was referring to a now deleted post. So blah.
  21. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:35 PM) We wouldn't want your precious 17 year old mind to stoop down to our level of stupidity by f**ging up your glorious and discussion laden thread. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Quality response, Cerb. May I suggest ownage?
  22. QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jun 16, 2005 -> 11:29 PM) We have every right to s*** all over your thread. Just because someone doesn't fellate Pink Floyd LPs like you do doesn't mean you get to tell everyone to f*** off. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> So you guys can come in here and spam up my thread. And I can't spam my own thread telling you to f*** off???? Logic???
  23. What else should I expect from Soxtalk? If you don't got anything positive to say, go the f*** away. I don't care if you don't care. Stop spamming my thread just for the sake of posting, because that's been happening way the f*** too much around here.
