  1. Fresh off domination of Hickory (7 IP, 0 R, 7 K, 1 BB, 0 hits) his stats now are pretty insane. 41.2 IP, 8 R (1.73 ERA), 45 K, 21 BB, 16 hits allowed. Opponents are hitting .117 against him. He's kinda good.
  2. Knights lost 6-5. Fields 3-5, 2B, K. Haeger 5 IP, 6 R. Box Score Barons won 12-4. Collaro 2-5, 3 RBI. Honel 5 IP, 2 R, 3 K, 5 BB, 2 hits. Box Score Hogs won 2-1 in 10 on a Cole Armstrong HR in the 10th. Cunningham 1-4, R, B, 2 K. Orlando 2-5, 2B, K. Clayton Richard decided to be unreal: 9 IP, 1 R, 7 K, 3 BB, 3 hits. Box Score Kanny beat Hickory 13-4 behind Faustino De Los Santos being a demigod. Shelby 2-4, 2B, BB, 3 R. Carter 1-5, RBI, 2 K. Cruz and Hernandez 2-5 with a HR each. Faustino 7 IP, 0 R, 7 K, 1 BB, 0 hits. Haha, he's good. Opponents are hitting .117 off him. Box Score of Faustino's domination
  3. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ May 19, 2007 -> 11:46 PM) I've never seen someone care so much about Drake... Well he goes to Iowa State and is a lifelong fan. Like the clip said, they've rushed the field 3 times on Missouri. I didn't even realize that, wow. I mean, heck I like Missouri State and don't feel threatened by any other school in Missouri. Even as a Northwestern fan I like SIU and only hate U of I and slightly dislike DePaul. Iowa State has 3 schools that can (and have) beat them in basketball in their own state. Also, last year's Cyclone football team (which beat Missouri before Heads gets to bring that up) could have lost to some I-AA teams. And how's that baseball working out? Oh wait...I keep forgetting you don't even have a team.
  4. Carter is hitting .387 with 17 extra base hits, 22 RBI, and 20 runs in 19 games in May. Good for a 1.272 OPS.
  5. I'd rather stay away from high school arms in the first round, but otherwise I like the idea of going for a higher ceiling guy.
  6. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 18, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) I'd like to see Dewon Day's BAPIP. It has to be above .400 . Another typical outing (so far): 1 IP, 1 R (unearned), 2 Hs, 3 Ks. Well he has 45 Ks and 25 hits allowed in 23 innings. 23 innings=69 outs. That means he has 24 outs left (not counting double plays or other things that would change BABIP, etc.). That's 25/49 ha. Some double plays would make it even higher if I understand how that stat works.
  7. Charlotte 2 @ Columbus 4 Nunez 6.1 IP, 4 R (1 ER) Owens 2-4, R, BB, K Fields 1-3, 2B, BB, 2 K Anderson 1-3, R, BB Vasquez 1.2 IP, 0 R, 0 K, 0 BB, 0 hits Birmingham 5 @ Montgomery 2 Lucy HR #2 (a solo shot), a walk, and 3 runs. Russell 7 IP, 1 R, 6 K, 4 BB, 3 hits Lynchburg 6 @ Winston-Salem 11 Cunningham 1-3, 2B, 3 RBI, BB Schnur 2-5, 2B, 3B, RBI, 2 R Ricks 3-4, 2 2B, RBI, BB, 2 R (.329 in 70 at-bats) McCulloch 6 IP, 3 R (0 ER), 7 K, 3 BB, 5 hits Lexington 6 @ Kannapolis 1 Carter 1-3, R, BB Allen 2-4, 2B, K Brooks 5 IP, 4 R, 8 K
  8. You can criticize the list but to say it was rushed it actually the opposite of the truth. How is it rushed? Because you don't agree with the list? I just don't understand how we rushed it when it took too long for us to get it out and that's why people are able to criticize the list. It's dated, not rushed.
  9. If the list came out in April like we should have done it wouldn't have looked as weird. It's actually the opposite of rushing it because the new performances from guys so far is why the list looks off. Getz has shot up the charts and wasn't on our radar going into the year. A guy like Harrell not pitching yet this year would have him drop a few spots. Francisco Hernandez would be a few spots higher, etc.
  10. Carter started 06 in Kanny and was demoted to Great Falls, but who cares about accuracy anyway? Heads, you should so tell me what my FS admin password is.
  11. Collaro had 2 hits and bomb number 8. Honel 6 walks in 4.2 IP, youch. Barons Lose 7-4 Omogrosso 3 K and 0 hits in 2 innings of relief for the Hogs in a 5-2 loss where the Hogs only managed 3 hits. Box Score Shelby contributed 3 hits and scored the game winning run in the 11th, but Chris Carter was the hero for Kannapolis tonight. He went 2-5 with 2 runs, but his HR in the bottom of the 9th with 2 on and 2 out sent the game to extras. He had 4 RBI on the night. I Carter. Kanny 8, Lexington 7 in 11
  12. 8-3 in their last 11! Nice job Sox, way to cancel out that 5 game losing streak quickly. Only 3 out of the wild card and 3.5 out of 1st. Keep rolling and move up the standings.
  13. QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ May 16, 2007 -> 05:14 PM) FWIW, Getz is also repeating AA, and he was a player drafted out of college in the first place. He should be doing this. Exactly. That's why we were so harsh on him for struggling at Birmingham despite skipping high-A. He turns 24 in August and that means he doesn't have much time to make the Majors before his value starts plummeting. It wouldn't surprise me too much to see the White Sox promote him to Charlotte if he stays above .300 around late July or August. Especially because they might want to see if he has any shot at making the 08 roster as a bench guy.
  14. Before this season Getz was barely a prospect because he sucked in AA. To be honest, we barely put him on the list. It's our fault for releasing it late, but you simply can't make the argument that Getz was a top 20 prospect in this system before his success at Birmingham. I still think his upside is as a better than average utility infielder.
  15. QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ May 16, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) Any chance him and Francisco Hernandez get promoted this year or do you think the organization takes it slow with both of them. Considering they are both repeating it's probable they would promote both. Especially Hernandez because this is his 3rd year, 2nd full season, with Kanny. There isn't any precedent I can think of from the last few years though. None of the other talented guys in the org. that did well in rookie ball but faltered in Kanny have turned it around (Salvador Sanchez, Gomes, Brandon Allen) until these two. Who knows?
  16. Carter made Baseball America's Prospect Hot Sheet. His overall numbers are .318/.372/.576. He ranks top 10 in the SAL in slugging (6th), OPS (8th- .948), total bases (2nd- 87), HRs (8th- 7), doubles (t-3rd- 14), hits (t-2nd- 48), and runs (t-10th- 28). It would be nice if he could improve his walk rate and cut down on his Ks, but it is nice to see Carter doing well this time around in the SAL.
  17. Cubs for the rivalry factor. To quote Allen Iverson (well kind of), "We're talking about tiebreakers!" The baseball season is 162 games, I'm not going to be picky about who the Sox get the wins against. A win against the Cubs counts just as much as the Yankees. To prevent the Yankees from winning more games is really petty. Besides, they really aren't in the playoff picture this year even though they probably will be.
  18. QUOTE(Wedge @ May 15, 2007 -> 06:10 PM) Basically since they're f***ed for Game 5, the Suns should just take cheapshots on the Spurs when Duncan is on the bench hoping he goes on the floor and gets suspended. I said the exact same thing. It's just garbage that the Spurs net an advantage. QUOTE(GoRowand33 @ May 15, 2007 -> 10:05 PM) I disagree, I think if we won game 3, we would have lost game 4, or atleast game 5 I think going down 0-3 made the bulls relax because they stopped trying to do to much, relaxed and started playing their game knowing they have nothing to lose. This coinciding with the Pistons relaxing thinking they had it locked up, and now we have a series. I think if the Pistons lost a game earlier they would have maintained a high level of play, and this series would be over Yeah, I still think the Bulls would have had a reasonable shot to be down 3-2, but it wouldn't be 3-2 Bulls.
  19. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ May 15, 2007 -> 12:26 AM) Horry with a brutal cheap shot, but it works out great for the Spurs. He's gonna be suspended for game 5, but Amare and Diaw came off the bench, so they are in the same boat. Advantage: Spurs It's debatable whether they will/should get suspended. It would be a shame to give the Spurs the advantage for a fight they instigated. It's the same as Poppovich telling Horry to start a fight with Stoudemire to get him suspended.
  20. Robert Horry decked the heck out of Steve Nash. That's not going to help disprove that whole dirty team image.
  21. Montgomery 4, Birmingham 3 (11 innings) Getz 3-4, BB, K Gio 5 IP, 2 R, 4 K, 2 BB, 4 hits Winston-Salem 8, Salem 7 Cunningham 2-5, 2B, 2 R Schnurstein 2-4, 2 2B, RBI, R, 2 K Ricks 2-2, 2 2B, 2 R, 2 BB Kannapolis 7, Savannah 5 (Game 1) Carter 1-3, HR, BB Hernandez 1-3, 2B, RBI, BB, K while playing 3rd Edwards 4.1 IP, 4 R Savannah 6, Kannapolis 5 (Game 2) Shelby back to 2nd, Hernandez back to C.
  22. Fields is heating up, hitting .318 in May with a .523 slugging and currently on a 10 game hit streak. Cunningham is 4 for his last 36. Kannapolis 9, Savannah 2 Shelby 2-5, 2B, 3 RBI, 2 R Carter 3-5, 2B, HR, 2 RBI (at .336 on the year) Long 5.1 IP, 2 R, 6 K, 1 BB, 6 hits
  23. QUOTE(danman31 @ May 12, 2007 -> 08:53 PM) For some reason I think the Sox are going to win this game still. They took Greinke out and I feel even more confident now. Despite his numbers he still has good stuff and I respect him more than the rest of the Royals bullpen (maybe with the exception of Soria who has been a surprise). So of course as I'm posting this Soria comes in... So I severely hedged my bet so I get like half the dap I could have had, but I had a feeling.
  24. I'll be honest...I yelled 'NO!' at the tv when Hawk said they are gonna wave him around.
