  1. QUOTE(Jordan4life_2007 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 06:54 AM) Um, yes, he could. Durant is that sick. So that game a week ago when he only put 12 on Villanova was McGrady-esque? Give me a break, he's still in college, and his numbers won't immediately translate to the NBA.
  2. QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jan 28, 2007 -> 01:02 AM) I could make a case that Kevin Durant would be the best player, RIGHT NOW, on the Bulls, who are tied for 1st in their division and 1/2 game out of the best record in their NBA Conference. I've never seen a freshman like him, not even Carmelo. He's like a combo of McGrady and Garnett. No, I really don't think you can. Sorry.
  3. Anyone else watch the MSU OSU game? OSU up 20 at half and MSU rallied from the start of the 2nd half. Neitzel got hot and had 2 go ahead threes in the last 30 seconds, one as time expired, but couldn't get them to fall. Meanwhile, Mizzou is back to playing as a real team with a commanding 71-58 win over Texas Tech. They follow their win at Colorado, which is hardly something to be proud of, with a nice win over a solid team. Tech was missing two starters apparently, but still had their top two scorers, never led, and didn't score for the first 9 and a half minutes or so of the 2nd half.
  4. OSU 59-50. The Buckeyes started hot from 3 in the 2nd half and got up 10 but the Cats got it back to 1 not long after. Most of the rest of the way the lead fluctuated between 2-5, never closer. NU did have a shot or two to tie, but never hit the big shot. Oden was the difference. Without his big offensive rebounds and putbacks it's hard to say OSU would win this one tonight.
  5. QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 07:30 PM) NU looking good. They're playing cocktease with me though. I have the UNC-Wake game on, but I'm barely paying attention. They do one of those updates and NU is winning 20-11. I didn't even think to follow the game for my sake. I get the WGN radio feed and gamecast going and Ohio St. goes on a 12-0 run after that scoreline (10 of which I was listened to). Weird end to the half as the Cats had a 24-23 lead but Ohio St. got a bucket and 2 foul shots somehow. Now clock problems, the last 40 seconds of the half have taken forever and just ended. 27-24 OSU at half.
  6. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jan 24, 2007 -> 12:54 AM) Plus that '05 World Series felt like a special event created only for a select group of people simply because of how little coverage the Sox get nation wide and how they're overshadowed locally by the Cubs. This Superbowl feels a whole lot more wide spread than that. I'm more or less indifferent on the Bears, but I agree with this part of your statement 100%.
  7. QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jan 21, 2007 -> 12:02 AM) Not getting Comcast at NIU, I don't get to watch too many Pac-10 games and it sucks. I wish they would show more of them and the SEC instead of every single Duke game. I'm fairly sure that game was on CBS, but yeah, I see your point. I love the PAC 10 games because of the unusual times compared to other conferences. Zoom, is that Michael Thompson?
  8. Does ESPN pick these gameday games in advance or is it like football where they wait until a week or so before to decide? This UNC-G Tech game should be a blowout and isn't the best matchup on tap tonight. It's a shame ESPN doesn't have a PAC 10 agreement because I would love to see UCLA and Arizona battle in primetime. Not that it wasn't on tv, but the PAC 10 needs and deserves all the exposure it can get this year. Also A&M and Ok State would have been a better matchup. I guess ESPN has to suck up to the ACC, specifically the state of North Carolina as much as possible.
  9. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 19, 2007 -> 01:24 PM) good call!!! Ehhh, I had to look it up. It doesn't take much effort to look at both their non-conference schedules.
  10. Michigan State already beat Texas and plays OSU in conference.
  11. Maybe Southern just isn't that good. Their best non Valley win is Va. Tech surprisingly (who'd have thought that would be a good win?). They lost to a pedestrian (yet somehow highly rated in the RPI) Arkansas team and 5-3 in the Valley has bubble written all over it.
  12. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Dec 19, 2006 -> 11:08 PM) Iowa State is the 10th or 11th best team in the conference. They should be better than Colorado, but may not even beat them. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jan 15, 2007 -> 11:29 PM) ISU could start 4-1 in conference with Colorado and KState next. That'd be an awfully sweet cushion with two road games at Okie State and A&M after that. I still think we can win 9-10 games in conference if everything breaks right. Colorado 74, Iowa State 65 You should have stuck with your original thought. I (almost) hate to be a dick, but I couldn't help it. Besides, Mizzou is 0-4 in conference and their next game is at Colorado so feel free to pile on if the Tigers don't get it done, I might even join you.
  13. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 08:50 PM) When a starter goes 80 minutes without scoring he sucks. He's averaging just over 12 a game shooting 52.3% from the field. He sucks. I'm not saying he's great, but he doesn't suck, he's a solid shooter.
  14. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 16, 2007 -> 12:08 PM) Matt Lawrence is crap, hes a set shot guy. Yeah, you're right, he only scored 19 last night.
  15. Hannah dropped the ball in the last play against U of I and stumbled with his dribble forcing Lawrence in a tough spot when he got the ball from Hannah. I hate to be happy with moral victories but Mizzou got one last night. After last season it's hard to actually be disappointed with just about anything. The funny thing is I was telling my friend that Hannah, Lawrence (Matt), and Brown haven't had good games at the same time yet this year. They did last night and the team almost won at Kansas so I can't complain. The whole team returns next year basically so they can learn from these last second losses (Ill, Iowa St, Kansas).
  16. 101, freekick taker for the record and Donovan blows.

    Cancelled Gems

Showtime's Odyssey 5. I thought it was damn good and it sucks that it was cancelled after 1 season. I looked it up on wikipedia and found this which further depressed me: "The initial run of the series ran for 14 of the 20 episodes, leaving the six remaining episodes unaired for a period of roughly two years. This unnatural pause and the summary cancellation were done due to Showtime's desire to move away from science fiction television, likely in an attempt to match the programming brought forth by rival HBO. This is despite the fact that the series was one of Showtime's highest rated original series."
  18. Stewart was traded to the Rangers for minor league reliever John Lujan.
  19. QUOTE(Jimbo @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 09:31 PM) I hope to pummel Mizzou!!!! You should. Mizzou isn't as bad as they are playing right now, but they are playing like the 11th best team in the conference at the moment.
  20. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 07:12 PM) Edgar Davids the Dutch Tottenham HotSpurs midfielder is off to join FC Dallas as well. Will be interesting to see if there are any more to follow. As far as I've seen that is still rumor. You would think the MLS website would be all over that. Maybe they are waiting for the Beckham buzz to die down a bit and let their draft get some attention (LOL!) before announcing it. However, taking a gander at the MLS site I noticed this. It's an interesting idea, a North American Champions' League of sorts. They already have one of those, but no one cares about it. It's got potential (I like the USA vs. Mexico rivalry) because it tests MLS against a more respected league, but all the games are in the US. I'd much rather see games in Mexico as well. I'd love to see the Fire play for US pride in a game in a hopefully hostile environment.
  21. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 03:35 PM) Why should Wisconsin be ashamed of their performance? They played like garbage against a team that they have notoriously choked against and came out with a win. The biggest problem I saw was that Bo was adamant on bounce passes into the paint, when Wisconsin probably should have gone over the top with lobs to the big men. They also seemed in no hurry to put the game away and didnt even start to drive until late in the second half. Im not exactly sure why style points count. I would rather that they get wins having to make free throws and play clutch down the stretch then just blow a team out. They have already beaten OSU, Pitt, Marquette, so a win is a win at this point. You need to get the message across that that kind of effort will have the Badgers lose to most of the rest of the Big Ten.
  22. Wisconsin beats NU by 6 but should be ashamed by the effort and performance. Tucker played like garbage other than 3 athletically exceptional plays. NU was without their leading scorer and if they didn't absolutely lack talent, might have won the game. Oh well.
  23. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Jan 13, 2007 -> 03:10 PM) The final and most overrated of the undefeateds Clemson loses at Maryland 92-87. Most overrated? They have had good wins. They'll be top 25 throughout the year IMO.
  24. NU battling with Wisconsin. The Cats have lead most of the 2nd half, but are down 2 right now with 4+ to go. Wisconsin does not look like a ranked team today, plain and simple.
  25. QUOTE(Gage Loves Me @ Jan 12, 2007 -> 10:08 PM) I would personally hunt down Bettman and slit his cheap ass throat if he implemented a shootout in the playoffs. A bit much? Easy there.
