  1. OSU is making my bracket look good with the win coming...(this would be the jinx of the century so I'm willing to risk it).
  2. QUOTE(BearSox @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 05:57 PM) Also, do we still have Corey Smith, IIRC, wasn't he once the top indians prospect and considerad a very good prospect out of high school? He has always put up some decent power numbers down in the minors. Is he still with the organization, because he isn't on that list. According to BA we released him.
  3. Yeah I heard about that on the radio. It's really sad that the NIT botched it. If they want people to care even a little about the tournament they need to avoid it from being a joke.
  4. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Mar 30, 2007 -> 07:24 PM) In fact if you ask me its just the opposite. McRoberts actually has a lot of talent, upside and obviously potential but the problem is he plays stupid on the court and appears to be real lazy. Exactly. I think you said it better than me in fact. What is the world coming to?
  5. I was just curious how an East/West alignment would work out for the Big East. East Syracuse Rutgers Georgetown Seton Hall UConn Providence St. John's Villanova West Louisville Cincinnati Pittsburgh DePaul Marquette Notre Dame West Virginia South Florida USF ends up being the wildcard, but they are far away from whoever they play no matter what. Technically they are far enough west to qualify anyway. DePaul/Marquette/ND are close together and the rest fall into place. The East is extremely close together. Other than Syracuse the East division would be all coastal cities ranging from DC to Providence, you can't beat that. I think a split would be a good idea, the random schedule isn't the way to go. It's funny, I started thinking about the geography of the Big East when my Northwestern dynasty in March Madness got bumped from the Big Ten and then later moved into the Big East.
  6. McRoberts did not have a good season. He had a few good games, but plays like a dumbass. Don't give me this 'he has a high basketball IQ' crap. If you watched him play on a regular basis you wouldn't make that statement.
  7. Arkansas is probably a slight step up from A&M. This is the same A&M program that went 0-16 in the Big 12, what, 3 years ago?
  8. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 09:13 PM) I imagine he'll end the season in AAA if everything goes well. I'm just hoping his improvements for this season make it possible to be seriously considered as a starting candidate in 2008. Russell as well. Unless things have changed Russell is viewed as a reliever. I was slightly surprised to see him in AA again. With a good spring and a possible move to the pen you'd think they could push him to Charlotte after 10 starts in Bham last year.
  9. QUOTE(Cali @ Mar 29, 2007 -> 05:51 PM) Who the f*** is V. Mercedes? Some guy basically. He was a minor league free agent the Sox signed and put at Winston-Salem last year. He had a decent year, but will be 28 in mid-April. He is not a prospect.
  10. Chris Young leadoff?! It's Spring Training, but damn that's surprising. Do they think he can leadoff this year?
  11. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 10:32 PM) Well the first time OSU played Wisconsin they were down and almost came back, if they can chip away early I think they can outlast Tenn, Or just get back within 6 before the 14 minute mark...
  12. QUOTE(fathom @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 09:46 PM) Could Greg Oden be less impressive this tournament so far? If 14 points and 12 rebounds is unimpressive then sign me up. (against Xavier)
  13. I hate to say it but Acie's legacy as far as A&M fans will be concerned is that missed layups. He was a great player, especially in the clutch, but he didn't get it done this game and that layup will be long remembered.
  14. QUOTE(IlliniKrush @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 08:21 PM) The officiating f***ed over SIU Yeah, it's a damn shame. The clearest bad calls cost SIU points, it's a damn shame.
  15. The Salukis have missed out on a few close calls. That 3 grazed the rim and they didn't get the call. It's a close game which is all SIU could ask for and they have Kansas playing worried.
  16. Alex Gordon will be starting on opening day for the Royals, skipping AAA. Interesting move. They are at least a year away from being close to .500, but Gordon could provide a spark if he's ready (which is questionable).
  17. QUOTE(Felix @ Mar 19, 2007 -> 09:16 PM) The Gophers are having a solid year so far at 11-5, beating two top 10 teams (Arkansas, Pepperdine). As I'm someone who just started "following" college baseball, how common are these types of wins? Any chance the Gophers would ever creep up the rankings because of them, or would many, many more be needed? (one was earlier in the year) All I know is that they are currently 7 in the RPI. I was surprised to see that.
  18. Simeon won in a blowout and Derrick Rose didn't make a FG. 0-7 from the field. Tim Flowers scored 35 and probably deserves as much credit as Rose for the team's success in the past 2 years.
  19. About time. He hasn't done anything since his Seton Hall days.
  20. OSU saves my bracket and my roommate from last year (who know goes to Xavier) can stop talking s***. Life is good.
  21. QUOTE(SnB @ Mar 17, 2007 -> 01:47 PM) they're finally starting to hit their 3's. OSU is playing scared right now. Finally starting to hit their 3s means 5-7 in the half? I'd say that's playing way over their heads. OSU is gonna make a run because Xavier is going to realize they aren't talented in a few minutes. I'm not saying X can't pull it out, but this is a joke right now. Now 6-8 with Lavender's lucky chuck. That was case in point as to how lucky X is getting.
  22. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Mar 16, 2007 -> 08:35 PM) Well the Big Ten closes the first round 5-1, with Purdue's victory. Yeah, U of I collapse or not the Big Ten did very well. A strong 2nd round showing would eliminate the arguments that they had good matchups.
