I'll take it from Javy against this offense.

QUOTE(jphat007 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 08:06 PM) I'll be in the minority but I wouldnt ahve a problem having him go out there until he has a baserunner with a 4 run lead. He's only at 100 Usually I would agree with you, especially with Danks going tomorrow, but winning the first game is huge in this series IMO. Not to mention they are coming off an off day. The only guy that might be tired is Jenks and if the lead holds at 4 they may not use him.

I was gonna be pissed if we didn't kick Carmona's ass.

I can't take these Indian announcers anymore. Anyone know if I can get the Chicago guys on mlb tv? Do I just have to keep opening it again or is there a real method to it?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) His offensive numbers look similar to Lucy's, but Lucy's defensive numbers look better. I don't see anything in the few scouting blurbs I can find that are anything special. Why would Suzuki have been a better choice? Suzuki has outhit Lucy at every level by a solid amount so far. I've heard Suzuki may not be a great defensive catcher and that was one of the plusses of Lucy. QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Apr 13, 2007 -> 01:17 PM) As for Suzuki, he has outhit Lucy by a wide margin all throughout the minors, Lucy put up nice numbers all-around at Stanford, but it just hasn't translated to minor league ball. Lucy's numbers were very average in college. You have to factor in that there is more offense in college because of the aluminum bats and .313 his junior year is far from dominating. Most pros will hit .350+ in college or have lots of power to go with a slightly lower average.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 01:35 PM) That assclown with the goofy mustache who bangs the big ass drum at Jacobs field. f*** that guy. And a second one for the use of assclown QUOTE(letsgoarow @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 02:40 PM) Doug Mientkiewicz....man do i hate that piece of dog trash Dog trash is harsh, but I couldn't stand him when he was with Minnesota. Now that the magic of not being talented and producing that comes with playing for the Twins is gone he is so benign. As for the rest of my list... Kenny Rogers (in fact most of the Tigers rotation, Bonderman and Verlander are the only ones with talent) Ivan Rodriguez Barry Bonds (but not as bad as most towards him) Scott Rolen (for the announcers raving about him making average plays at 3rd) Torii Hunter (in a 'God damnit he robbed another one against us' way, I have nothing against him personally) Sosa Curt Schilling (but he sucks now so I only hate him as a person, not a pitcher ha) Zambrano (one of the more satisfying guys to hate because of his somewhat common implosions) Joel Zumaya Brandon Inge Maggs Nick Punto (for hitting .290 last year and still having a career average below .260. There's that magic I was talking about) Jason Bartlett (magic) Lew Ford (see above) Jason Tyner (ditto and for going to Texas A&M) Moises Alou (for not having retired yet and pissing on his hands) Wow that was longer than I thought it was gonna be. 10 of the 15 of the guys I hate are on the Tigers or Twins lol. So to summarize I hate a lot of Twins, Tigers, Sosa, Bonds, Schilling, Alou, and Zambrano.

Winston-Salem lost game 2 10-1. Cunningham 3-3, R, BB (.455 on season now). Some 32 year old Joe Gannon guy who is a career independent league guy started tonight for some reason. Box Score Kanny won 3-2. Carter 2-4, R, 2 Ks. Gomes 1-3, 3B, R, BB, K. Box Score

Where did BA rank organization for ML talent?
danman31 replied to caulfield12's topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(caulfield12 @ Apr 12, 2007 -> 10:39 PM) How did we fall so far when we added so many pieces to our system? Doesn't make much sense to me...weren't we ranked in the teens last year AFTER we'd already given up Chris Young to AZ? In the offseason, we added Gio, Floyd (who technically doesn't qualify I guess), Danks, Masset, Rasner, Vazquez, Lujan, etc. Shouldn't we have at least stayed in the same position? Was this simply because McCullough and Broadway aren't considered to be high impact draft picks? Last year Jenks and Anderson counted which helped. Also Lumsden was traded for Macdougal. Rasner, Vasquez, and Lujan mean 0 as far as BA is considered. Floyd probably doesn't count because of his innings. Let's call Danks and BMac a wash for this. Nothing special from our 06 draft and losing Jenks, Anderson, and Lumsden for Gio and Masset isn't going to move you up. -
Link It's funny, sad, and pathetic at the same time. Poor Prior, poor Cubs. Wait a minute...f*** the cubs!

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 11:01 PM) This kid is something, it's a miracle he's even alive, he hasn't played in like 3 years, he has never played above a ball, and he's doing this. He played in short season A for 15 games last year which ended the 3 year absense. Also, he played 23 games in AA in 2001.

That's bad news about Harrell. If the surgery was nothing major he wouldn't be pitching in Rookie Ball in June.
-
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Apr 11, 2007 -> 05:59 PM) Harrell is another guy I'm keeping my eye on. He struggled in Bham but prior to that promotion the guy was just ridiculous at getting ground ball out after ground ball out. Speaking of which where is he to start the year? milb.com has him on the Barons' roster, but the Barons' website does not and he hasn't made an appearance yet.
-
I hate starting promotion talk this early, but Russell did have 10 starts with moderate success last year so if he keeps this up he will certainly be promoted by June or July. Considering he has already had AA innings I fully expect the Sox to push Russell up if he maintains a sub or low 3 ERA. Birmingham 5 @ Mobile 2 (Game 2) Getz 1-2, HR, 2 BB, K, CS (2nd HR in doubleheader) Chris Kelly 1-4, HR, K (4-8 in doubleheader) He's doing well so far, but seems to have gone with more of a contact approach than power as opposed to last year when he hit .244 in W-S but clubbed 20 HRs. Today's HR was his first extra base hit of the season while hitting .286. Gio 5.1 IP, 2 R, 6 K, 2 BB, 6 hits (W, 2-0) Day, 1.2 IP, 5 K, 1 hit (Save #3) Kannapolis 3 @ Rome 11 Gomes 1-3, 2B, RBI Jacob Rasner (guy we got in BMac trade) 4 IP, 6 R

Dye Konerko Buehrle Back to .500 with a nice series win. I was very confident until the loss yesterday, but going into this series I wasn't going to complain with 2/3.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Apr 10, 2007 -> 12:15 AM) LOL yes I thought *rolls eyes* gave away I was being dead sarcastic. Teahen is outstanding, and Gordon just isn't ready IMO. Yeah, but if they realize next year is the first year they will be a decent team in a while they can let Teahan adjust to the OF and Gordon to MLB pitching this year. They are hoping the two do well in their new spots and by the time next year rolls around they will be ready to shoot for .500.
-
Cassel pitched very well, that's a great sign. He should have a good season in high-A considering he was a college pitcher at a good program in a decent conference (UC Irvine). I'll wait until he hits AA before I get really excited about him though.

I'm not saying the Big 12 is going to be a ton better next year and I didn't say Kansas would suck. I think it's a safe assessment to say Kansas won't be as good (assuming Rush also goes pro). If Durant goes pro, which he almost certainly will, Texas will probably be about as good but maybe not as dangerous. As long as James and Augustin return they are going to be a good team because they will have another good class coming in.
-
QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Apr 9, 2007 -> 12:39 PM) Luckily you play in the Big 12, even if you lost your entire starting 5 you would still probably be the 1st or 2nd best team. It will be a better league next year. There were a lot of young teams and first year coaches. At least next year the teams won't be as young despite still a few first year coaches lol. Kansas and A&M won't be as good and Texas and Oklahoma State will probably stagnate, but the rest of the league should be better.

QUOTE(SuperSteve @ Apr 8, 2007 -> 04:09 PM) They're better than you think IMHO. They have gotten solid starting pitching so far. Just no bullpen, and a few other pieces. I have seen four games I htink now. I'm falling in love with DeJesus (who just got his third hit today). Duckworth had a very solid game today. Riske just isn't a closer. Yeah, their bullpen is a joke. I keep saying they will be decent next year. Alex Gordon is showing that he was rushed so far though.
