Northwestern is about to beat DePaul in Evanston. Either DePaul is really bad or Northwestern is at least respectable this year. I was expecting single digit wins from NU this year. The Cornell loss confirmed my expectations, but this DePaul win is out of nowhere. It's a nice win for a young team, they need some form of confidence early in the year. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 08:34 PM) Down goes Arizona. First upset of the year in the first decent matchup of the year. I thought Zona was overrated. Shakur is absolute garbage, he's so overrated. -

QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Nov 12, 2006 -> 12:18 AM) In all seriousness, I would bet that Wisconsin tops Michigan in that poll, but falls behind the 1-loss WVU. Other than the fact that Michigan outclassed Wisconsin 27-13 earlier in the year. -
QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 10, 2006 -> 03:38 PM) Spoken like a true fan of those mighty Tigers. They call you guys Misery for a reason. 1. I hated Illinois before I came to Missouri. 2. Missouri football is clearly better than U of I football, don't even talk trash about football. Next year Mizzou will show that on the field.

QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Nov 10, 2006 -> 10:21 AM) If all players thought like that, then you'd have a depth chart of 8 5-star players on certain teams. NOw, you and I, who couldn't play our way out of a paper bag and have to watch and envy these 18 year olds, can EASILY say, oh, I'd rather win. But, I think what's on the top of mind with a lot of these guys is, "Oh, I'd rather PLAY!" You can't showcase your talent from the bench. And if ESPN is any indication, all it takes is one energetic player to be on TV. Why do you think the Illini have been on ESPN and ESPN2 as much as they have this year? To see John Stocco and the Badgers? To see JoePa (ok, maybe to see JoePa.). No, it's because of Juice. And it's because they are IN games this year. They are exciting and are only going to get better. Bottom line, Benn wants to play, he wants to go to a team, where when the get better, he is seen as a catalyst. I see nothing wrong with that. I understand that, but if he's as good as they say he is playing isn't an issue anywhere for him.
-
Don't get mad at me for hating on U of I because this thread is a U of I lovefest, but...what a dumbass Benn is. He's going to a s***ty football school that's not a regional pick for him or anything. On top of that he can watch Zook blow multiple games from the sidelines while his talent goes undeveloped. Then again, I guess when the team on the field doesn't win anything the fans have to root for recruiting victories.

It took Iowa nearly 42 minutes to score on Northwestern in Iowa City. Talk about embarrassing. 21-7 final! Way to go Cats. They've been showing better play the last few weeks, it finally resulted in a win. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 1, 2006 -> 07:26 PM) Because he's treated like a great QB nationwide when he's the 2nd best one on his team, and would be the 2nd best one on Indiana. Nobody is denying he can play, but he's not nearly the player your told he is by the media. That's a pretty ignorant statement. Tate is a very good QB. Don't forget that he has 0 talent around him this year. -
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 06:34 AM) I forgot to mention When You Were Young, which is a good song as well. I think from what I've read on various messageboards it's an album you really need to listen to quite a few times before you start to appreciate it, but if you don't like it, then you're not going to listen to it again are you. I already bought it so I've listened to it multiple times already.
-
QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Oct 27, 2006 -> 01:42 AM) Yeah I'm startin to get into that at the moment. Really liking Sam's Town and Uncle Johnny the most on that album so far. I was hugely disappointed with the new album. I was really excited for it when I heard the single When You Were Young, but the rest of the album is mediocre. Sam's Town is a great song, but beyond that it's very average. I hate how they have these meaningless enterlude/exitludes. Oddly enough DBAH0, Uncle Johnny was probably my least favorite song on the album. To be fair, I don't think it was going to be possible for them to come out with an album that would approach the quality of Hot Fuss.

QUOTE(Steff @ Oct 17, 2006 -> 07:29 AM) The Bears looked lifeless for 45 minutes and should have lost that game no question at that point. I disagree. The offense was awful for the entire game but the defense was very good for at least the 2nd half, arguably the last 3 quarters of the game.

Adrian Peterson out for the season according to the bottom line on ABC. Link Wolfe 18 carries for 25 yards in a loss to Western Michigan. Say goodbye to New York? -

Mizzou is trailing for the first time all year with a 3-0 deficit in College Station. Time to see how good this team really is. -

QUOTE(Palehosefan @ Oct 7, 2006 -> 09:08 PM) Dan, great job by your Missou guys tonight. Made Graham Harrell look silly. 5 turnovers by our QB, not going to ever get it done. Missou should win the North with any amount of small breaks. Yeah they looked very good. The running game did well, Tech had trouble tackling. The passing game wasn't a huge factor though. The defense makes big plays happen, plain and simple. Tech ran them over for a couple quarters, but made enough crucial mistakes that it wasn't close to enough. The Tigers will probably have to win one of the OU (in Columbia)/Neb (in Lincoln) games to win the North I think. 6-2 in conference almost seems likely even with those two losses, but Nebraska might also go 6-2. It will be a good race though and I can't believe this Mizzou team is this good. -

Good to scorer? WTF is that? I would say for role players you had plural but showed Duhon highlights for a while before showing Sweetney. Not only should you probably find more than two, you should introduce both earlier on like you did with the rookies and then cut between the two for highlights. The music was an odd choice. Having the Paxson pics startup once the music is basically done than was weird too. Instead of introducing a new character, just add a closing shot for when the music fades. -
Those standings aren't fair, my team won the consolation bracket! lol My preliminary keepers are Brian McCann, Vladimir Guerrero, Anibal Sanchez, Josh Johnson, and Alfonso Soriano. I'll list Carlos Guillen, Prince Fielder, Dan Uggla, Brad Hawpe, Gary Matthews Jr., Derek Lowe, Justin Verlander, and Pedro Martinez as possibilities so I know my roster in case of a need for change.

Biggest HS Rivalry in Illinois History?

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 01:58 PM) Eh, close. They're both CSL South, right? GBN is CSL North, but close enough. QUOTE(AbeFroman @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 04:02 PM) New Trier is wealthy, but mostly harmless. Other than the fact that the parents of all those kids are loaded, there's really no reason to make them hatable. New Trier is hatable because they win everything. They own golf, baseball, soccer, tennis, and swimming among others I'm probably forgetting. -

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 2, 2006 -> 11:27 AM) And I'd say there have been bigger individual names. I'd have to go look, but I thought Scott Sanderson went to NT. Not sure though. Sanderson went to Glenbrook North. -

Everyone is going to think their rivalry is best. There is no best rivalry because no one cares about any rivalry without being a part of it. -

Mizzou beat Colorado 28-13 today to move to 5-0 for the first time in a while. The Tigers are slowly gaining more exposure and respect. Next week they visit Texas Tech in what will be by far their biggest test of the year. -

Yeah, he's legit fast. There's a reason why he is the punt returner. He has a sick 40 time, but I don't want to make it up because I don't remember. I do remember hearing it and it's impressive. -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 11:49 PM) spoken like a true missouri fan. KU has kicked the crud out of you in every sport since i started my kansas viewing, 6 years ago. Missouri fans freakin hate the jayhawks, if you dont believe it, open your mouth and talk to some of your other classmates, not the chicago kids. I cannot wait to watch Mangino beat Pinky again this year. Then, it gets even more fun with Mike Anderson, im bubbling with glee. I'm sorry hasn't Kansas lost 2 in a row in Columbia in basketball to piss poor teams? You're right Missouri fans hate Kansas and Kansas fans hate Missouri. You obviously are included because you decided to talk trash when it's quite clear which of the two teams has performed better so far this year and I didn't direct anything towards Kansas. Stop picking a fight, you're just being an asshole. -

QUOTE(Jimbo @ Sep 25, 2006 -> 12:56 PM) keep going higher, this will make it so much more wonderful when we beat you for the what 3rd or 4th year in a row. Haha, actually way to make the big 12 north look a wee bit better. Maybe we can join you guys if we can beat nebraska, naaaaa Missouri/Kansas is the dumbest rivalry ever. There is no reason for the two schools to hate each other, at all. Neither one of them are both good at a sport lately anyway. But hey, at least Mizzou isn't losing to Toledo. -

Mizzou is 4-0 and ranked #25 in the AP poll. I know they've played very mediocre competition, but they have looked good in the games. This week against Ohio they were pretty sloppy, but the defense looks amazing. #1 in the country in yards against per game.
