Oregon just beat Georgetown 57-50 on the road. Impressive win for the Ducks who are still undefeated. G'Town meanwhile was way overrated preseason. -

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Nov 29, 2006 -> 02:54 PM) Carmody is an amazing coach. That team has nothing, and yet they are 4-2 with 2 decent wins so far. I like Kevin Coble though, he could be something IMO, and you have a nice class coming in next year recruitingwise. Yeah, Carmody has been good at finding diamonds in the rough so to speak. Jeff Ryan impressed the hell out of me yesterday. He went to my rival high school and I was embarrassed for NU that he was going to play there on a scholarship. In high school he was just a tall, decent athlete. That's enough to make you a star in high school, but he isn't tall enough or athletic enough for both to help him in college. That said he played some good d and good rebounding last night from what I saw. I was expecting Jeremy Nash to get more playing time than he has, I'm wondering what's the deal there. That said, Carmody has his teams play to the level of the competition. They lost to Cornell and beat North Florida by 1 but beat DePaul and Miami, go figure. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 28, 2006 -> 10:23 PM) From the challenge so far, none of Illinois, Duke, or Indiana impressed. I don't think any are top 25 teams. Duke is a young team that relies too much on the inconsistent play of Paulus and McRoberts. The sooner Duke realizes Paulus is garbage, the better off they are. He seemed to be getting phased out tonight as well, not starting. That said, they are absolutely a top 25 team. They have too much talent. The team will gain experience and gel as the year goes on and expect Coach K to get them better. Northwestern beat Miami to make it 4-2 ACC. I know it's a longshot but I could see the Big Ten taking the first four games tomorrow (all but Clemson-Minny). I'm not going to say that will happen, but individually each game is very winnable IMO. -

Northwestern repping the Big Ten with a 30-27 halftime lead. Hopefully they can keep the Big Ten close. -

UCLA is my number one, but I'm surprised at the difference in the polls, notably at the bottom. Missouri State gets no votes in one poll and is almost ranked in the other. Virginia is ranked in the AP but gets one vote in the ESPN. I have to agree with the AP poll more this time around. How can LSU be so much higher than Wichita State in both polls? Wichita State won in LSU and is undefeated. I guess it's irrelevant anyway at this time of year. -

To be fair you don't know what is better to have. Weber coached Self's recruits to a national title game. Weber only made the 2nd round last year and isn't looking great talent wise this year. This year will be a telling tale for Weber because it's almost all his recruits. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) It makes sense, as the teams in big conferences are going to get a lot more people that are trying to jump early or w/e, while mid-majors are going to have guys all four years. Yeah, but the top guys haven't jumped yet. I'm saying the guys like Durant, Oden, etc. that would have gone straight to the pros are at high majors as opposed to the next tier guys. In the next few years I could understand that holding true, but these guys haven't left yet. -

The next poll should be loaded with mid majors. It's interesting that this year all players are forced to go to college and mid majors are still progressing forward. -
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 10:59 AM) It'll be interesting to see how Peter gets out of police custody. I think the cop who can hear things will be making his way towards texas. Claire could testify for him, but Claire could be convicted as an accomplice if they wish to go that route. I have a feeling Claire's dad will end up not letting Claire help Peter, possibly even taking Peter in for his own gains.

Despite the struggles of the middle and bottom of the Big Ten the conference is likely to get 5 bids (Illinois, Ohio State, Wisconsin, Michigan State, and likely Michigan). Purdue, Iowa, and Indiana will be hurt by the lack of depth in the conference if they are going to push for bids. -

A&M beats Texas and no one says anything about it? 12-7 to the Aggies. Texas is back to their old selves, not quite a national title contender year to year. -

UNC seems to be the king of the 'they lost to that team?!' game. Every year UNC will have a couple just weird losses, especially earlier in the year. For example, the national title team losing to Santa Clara in their opener, the year before losing to a 3-13 in the ACC Clemson team. That said I should give Gonzaga some credit even though I hate to. They aren't a bad team, the win just caught me by surprise to say the least. -

QUOTE(CWSGuy406 @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 02:10 AM) And Scheyer isn't confident at all yet. He missed that layeup BADLY down low, and his three point stroke is off. He's another guy who's okay defensively, but he's not exactly a stopper on the other side of the court. He had done decently in the 3 games I'd seen Duke before tonight. He did have a poor shooting game though. -

Paulus just dribbles around the arc until he makes a purposeless pass. He is a good passer, but a poor decision maker at best. If he was capable of doing some sort of penetration he has the big men and shooters to create a ton for this team. Also, McRoberts had one of the worst games I've seen from a star big man in a long time. -

Wofford beat Cincy 91-90 in Cincy. How they have fallen... Wofford opened with a 4 point loss at NC State, beat a couple non I-A teams, and then beat Jacksonville St. by 2 on the road. Georgia Tech made a nice rally on Memphis to win 92-85. The Yellow Jackets were down 16 at half... -

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 07:33 PM) Also, I got to admit that it's pretty odd to watch Scheyer play college ball as I've played with him before and I'm good friends with some of his good friends. Yeah, he's done mostly well at Duke so far. The Blue Devils looked ugly tonight though. If Air Force could have made some open 3s that would have been a very close game. QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Nov 20, 2006 -> 08:05 PM) I got a hunch that Depaul is going to take down UK. I got a hunch DePaul will lose to Chaminade. -
BA chose to put Matt Long in the top 10???

Air Force is 4-0, they are very good. They already have 3 road wins over Long Beach State who a lot of people are picking to win their conference, Stanford by 34, and Colorado by 38. They should give Duke a lot of trouble. -

Missouri beat Davidson today to move to 5-0. Davidson is the best team they've faced yet and it was a close game, but it's still improvement for the Tigers. Braggin' Rights might look like a real game for more than 2 minutes this time around. -

QUOTE(Brian @ Nov 18, 2006 -> 09:19 PM) Ah boy, Mike Hart being a poor sport in the post game conference. He was right, but comes off bitter none the less. Hart was the best player on the field tonight. It's a shame Troy Smith will get the Heisman because Hart deserves it more IMO. -

Northwestern beats Illinois 27-16 to win their 4th straight Sweet Sioux Tomahawk Trophy game. BOOM! Michigan just stuck it in Ohio St. on that drive. That was impressive. -

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Nov 17, 2006 -> 11:51 AM) I am fairly confident that 80 percent of those players have no idea who he was. I am more confident that these players know a lot about the Michigan tradition. Not to mention they he was still involved with the football team doing media work. He collapsed while filming a show. He was still well known within Michigan. -

QUOTE(Buehrle>Wood @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 10:18 PM) Nothing better than seeing the most arrogant fanbase in America cry for a night. Notre Dame football has a stake in that IMO. -
QUOTE(Jimbo @ Nov 15, 2006 -> 03:20 AM) DeAndre was supposed to sign with KU and then Mizzou, but I think grades got in his way....He is a big big boy. NEW Mexico STate has Reggie Theus as coach, i dont see the appeal either. Maybe he can do a spot on that old NBC Show with Theus. Yeah, DeAndre Thomas was a stud but grades got in the way, I remember that. He committed to Mizzou because he wanted to play teams that stopped recruiting him (namely KU and U of I).
