  1. I like the deal. MacDougal has good stuff. Cortes didn't thrill me. Lumsden is a good arm to give up, but MacDougal is a good arm we should have for a few years.
  2. QUOTE(BobDylan @ Jul 23, 2006 -> 11:35 PM) Sorry if this is the wrong forum. But I'm going to move to a new apartment soon. (I live in Chicago.) I don't want cable television, but I do want to carry along internet. Is there anyway to get Sox games on MLB TV without them being blacked out? You should be able to get them. I'm almost positive.

Box Score

  6. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 09:17 PM) Yeah, I can't imagine what it must be like for their fans, as well as Juventus and the other teams, too. I mean, just think if the White Sox were found guilty of that, and got sent to the NL ( ) and had to sell off most of their good players to the Yankees, Red Sox, Angels, etc. Btw, what's up with you people not giving the Portuguese SuperLiga some love? Portugal is badass (my team in the WC after US got knocked out). I have no Portuguese blood in me or anything, but I just like them (except for that cry baby Cristiano Ronaldo). I mean, it's freakin smaller than the state of Indiana, yet they're still able to compete with the best of them. How awesome is that! Anyway, as I've said before, I'm new to soccer, so b/c Portugal is so small, is the SuperLiga a small league as well, or are there some pretty good teams/players there? Benfica, Porto, and Sporting Lisbon are decent on the European scale. Porto won the CL in 2005 out of nowhere.
  7. I liked Maddux before he went back to the Cubs. Tim Hudson is probably right behind him. Jon Garland #3. Kind of a sad list lol.
  8. QUOTE(Felix @ Jul 21, 2006 -> 03:48 PM) Excellent choice! I'm going to try and actually follow the EPL this year, perhaps we could keep a thread on it in here, that would probably help Yeah, keep it as a European thread since some of us prefer the better leagues.
  9. Yeah Spector grew up in Arlington Heights (same as McBride), which is Chicago area and 20ish minutes from me. I've been tracking him since a pretty big deal was made about him signing for Man U and then playing that US tour game in Chicago.
  10. QUOTE(dasox24 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 10:45 PM) Is there any team that yall could just compare to the White Sox? That would make my decision a lot easier. Would that be a team that finally won a title after years of drought while not having a top tier payroll in doing? Doesn't exist.
  11. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 20, 2006 -> 11:18 PM) I think he'll acknowlege that I get interviews in strange ways. Dan knows what I mean. Yeah, seriously, you scared me with some of what you said.
  12. Charlotte won 8-4. 2 hits for Owens, Gonzalez, and Rogo (who also had 3 RBI and SB #23). Sweeney with HR #8. Montero, Hermanson, and Logan all pitched well out of the pen. Box Score Barons lost 8-3. Harrell made his AA debut and it wasn't pretty. Box Score Winston-Salem lost 7-5. Roberts 2-4 with a triple and HR #1. More struggles for Ryan Rodriguez. Box Score Kanny lost 3-0. 2 hits for Metheny. Richard with an average start. Omogrosso (ERA now under 4) and Chirino combine for 3 innings of scoreless relief. Box Score Great Falls lost 1-0 in 11. McCulloch and Brandon Hynick (8th round pick of the Rockies) had a nice duel. Cassel with good relief. Box Score Bristol lost 5-3. 3 hits for Inouye. Box Score
  13. Once Jay-Jay left, Bolton is nothing to me. He was so fun to watch. And DBAH0, you should mention that Jonathan Spector, American stud defender, is playing at West Ham now.
  14. QUOTE(ZoomSlowik @ Jul 19, 2006 -> 04:53 PM) Actually, I'd say Chelsea is getting to be more like the Red Sox. They never used to win anything, then Abramovic comes in and they spend a fortune on their team. They've dominated of late, and their spending is getting worse. They just added Kalou, Ballack, and Shevchenko. Their spending is getting pretty ridiculous. Yeah, but everyone's already sold on the idea that Arsenal is the Red Sox. Big spending a factor there too, not to mention the rivalry with Man U (Yankees). Anaheim spent pretty big to win their title, not huge, but big. It's not a bad comparison. As for Premier League teams I find it hard not to like Blackburn. Mainly because I revere Friedel after the 2002 World Cup, plus they don't have a bandwagon or Yankee-esque spending. With that said, you need to spend to win the top leagues in Europe, it's impossible not to. As for Bolton Jay-Jay Okocha is the freaking man, that is all.
  15. Charlotte lost 3-2. 2 hits for Owens, Rogo, Stewart. Box Score Barons won 3-2 with a run in the bottom of the 9th. Lopez 4-5. Broadway 5.1 IP, 2 R. Lamura bailed him out by getting a double play after Broadway left with the bases loaded. Box Score Great Falls won 12-4. 3 hits for Cruz and Lawrence. 2 for Grace and Shelby. Santeliz 6 IP, 2 R to move to 5-0. Box Score Bristol lost 8-5 in 11. Espinal 3-3. Enuco 2-4. Gartrell with his 1st HR of the season. 3rd round pick Edwards with a pretty good start. Box Score
  16. I could see Malone getting promoted if anyone from Birmingham's rotation. He's been in AA for a while and is finally succeeding. Broadway and Lumsden are both in their first full seasons so I see no reason to push them to AAA. I doubt Carter will get promoted. The Sox tend to leave guys in rookie ball once they send them their in the first place (well at least guys that weren't drafted that year). Francisco Hernandez was putting up big numbers last year with Great Falls after a similar path to Carter and stayed there until the end of the year.
  17. I always thought the Barons and Sox had something good going, I wonder why they would split if they are going to at all. On the upside the Sox might be able to land an Eastern League team to continue with getting all their affiliates close together.
  18. That Simmons article was a great read. I'm more into the Serie A (Go AS Roma!) than the Premier League, but I still follow somewhat. Sadly my favorite English system side isn't even English lol. I like Cardiff City, hopefully they can get to the Premier League soon, they've been improving lately and their fans tend to think this is the year. Gross non-EPL news though...Cannavaro and Emerson have been sold by Juventus to Real Madrid. :puke
  19. He does this for every team and is trying to keep it quick and short. I think his list was a little weird to begin with. Liotta ahead of Anderson and Jenks before the year? Puhlease. Beyond that he does a pretty good job. Though I think he was harsh on Fields, however, he wasn't alone on that front.
  20. 2006 Draft Recap: Rounds 1-10 FutureSox's 2006 Draft coverage concludes with a look at the top 10 picks By FutureSox Staff FutureSox will finish its draft coverage with information on the top 10 picks of the White Sox. Nine of them signed and each of those nine has began his professional career. Is there a future superstar in this group? Will the top picks meet their potential and make the White Sox look like geniuses in a few years? We have no idea yet, but here's what we do know about these players. More... I'd like to thank Josh (maggsmaggs) and Evan (dasox24) for helping out with these articles. They really helped out a ton and did a great job. I appreciate it and I know Jason appreciates it. I would like to think the four of us put together some good stuff here and people enjoyed it.
  21. bbmom pointed out that Rodriguez was in Winston-Salem in the Whisler thread. It was news to me and I noticed that Harrell is on the Barons roster. I figured this deserved it's own thread since a lot of people were wanting Harrell to be promoted for a while now. Harrell becomes the youngest player on their roster replacing Pedro Lopez who is still only 22. FutureSox Story
  22. Kanny lost 5-4. Orlando 2-4. Brooks with a decent start. Box Score
  23. Charlotte lost 8-4. Fields 2-4 with a double, run, walk, K. Haeger got hit hard, but Montero, Reynoso, and Logan combined for 3.2 innings of hitless relief. Box Score Winston-Salem won 6-2. Hansen 2-5 with HR #8. Cook and Roberts each 2-4. Lucy 3-5. Whisler 7 IP, 1 R, 3 K, 1 BB, 5 hits and win #9. Oneli Perez gave up his first earned run since being promoted to Winston-Salem. He still struck out 5 in 2 innings. After tearing through Kanny and succeeding so far (granted only 11.1 IP) in Winston-Salem Perez is making a push to become a decent relief prospect with good peripherals. Box Score Kanny won 9-3. Orlando, Allen, and Metheny 2 hits each. Derek Rodriguez with a solid start (7 IP, 2 R). Box Score Great Falls lost 13-4. Cruz and Reves each with 2 hits and a HR. Box Score Bristol lost 7-2. Box Score
