QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 07:54 PM) I don't have an XBox or PS2 , only MVP, NBA, Madden on the PC. And for journalism at Missouri, I need a Mac. What dorm are you staying in?

What is this? The brag about your high school accomplishments thread? Oh and while we're bragging I got a semester's credit worth of AP courses going into college. Where's Heads coming to brag? I know when there's academic bragging he can't be far behind. Too bad he went to Iowa St.

Ahhhh, this makes me feel much better. danman031 (7:27:09 PM): two grand slams in an inning? only the cubs would give it up Keers075 (7:28:16 PM): it's true Keers075 (7:28:40 PM): nice call Talking to a cub fan friend of mine online. Pretty hilarious stuff.

It was in the Fabio Castro thread talking about whether he was hidden on the DL.

Knights lost 10-6. Fields 2-3 with a HR. He was pulled in game which led Jason to believe there may have been a trade, but I doubt that was the case. Sweeney also 2-3 with a double, BB, and a run. Phillips with a rare bad outing (6 IP, 5 R (4 ER)), but still had 7 Ks as opposed to 2 walks. Box Score Birmingham scored 3 in the top of the 9th to take a 6-5 lead, but gave up 2 in the bottom half to fall 7-6. 2 hits for Collaro (HR #10), Lopez, and Schnurstein. Box Score Kanny lost 12-8. 2 hits for Orlando, Castillo, and Ricks. HR #7 for Cunningham. Flores started, he got rocked. More bad from Long, more good from Chirino. Box Score Great Falls won 8-1. 2 hits for Gilbert (now hitting .441), Carter, Grace (HR #2), and Marrero. 3 hits for Tavares. Santeliz 6 IP, 1 R, 5 K, 0 BB, 3 hits. Pitching staff only allowed 4 hits today. Box Score Bristol lost 4-1. Gerst 2-3 with a walk. Box Score

According to minor league splits (their stats through 7/7, I added his last two outings) he has a 120:88 ratio with a 5:1 ratio in yesterday's game. Worth noting that he had a 21:20 ratio in April, 39:29 in May, 42:26 in June, and 18:13 so far in July. He has definitely improved as the year has gone on.

7-1 Royals, top 6. Looks like KC might actually beat the Tigers in a game. If the Royals lose this one they are an officially official minor league team.

<FutureSox.com>Liotta Sent Down; Russell To Birmingham
danman31 replied to a topic in FutureSox Board
QUOTE(beck72 @ Jul 16, 2006 -> 06:36 AM) I saw that Russell was pulled after going 3 shutout innings on the 13th vs Chattanooga. Any one know why? There was a long rain delay therefore he was pulled. -
Great Falls led 9-8, blew it in the 9th. The pitching just wanted to see Carter hit a walkoff. Carter hit a 2 run bomb in the bottom of the 9th to cap a 3-5 day that included a double, that HR, 3 RBI, and 2 runs. Yeah, he's way too good for the Pioneer League.
-
Kanny lost in extras but 2 hits each for Cunningham, Castillo, and Gomes. Gomes and Cunningham seem to be heating up a bit.
-
Look for most of the Italian players to stay within the Serie A though. They tend to stay in their country more than most. Guys like Ibrahimovic, Kaka, and others will be top prizes likely to leave Italy though.
-
Carter 3-3, 2B, 2 RBI, walk, run. Gilbert, Shelby each with 3 hits. Marrero 2-4. Reves 1-4 with a 3 run HR (#3). Box Score Don't forget with Getz that he skipped Winston-Salem and he's still in his first full season. Holding his own is fine this year. Hopefully he is able to improve next year and should be a solid major leaguer in a couple seasons. Also of note, Collaro hit a HR today. I'm not giving up on him. He's definitely shown improvement as this season has gone on. His average has gone up each month.
-
Yeah, this is huge. Inter Milan and Roma look like the two favorites for the upcoming Serie A season. This should make the Serie A more competitive in the future as well. The powers will take a few years to get back going again (Juventus has a massive deficit, they won't be able to overcome it. They'll have another season in Serie B). Also, everyone moves up to spots in European competitions which means more money for those teams that they would not have received otherwise. It's going to be very interesting to see how it unfolds. I wouldn't be surprised if they lower some of the point penalties with appeals though.

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 14, 2006 -> 12:06 AM) And he was rated how highly on our top-prospects list preseason? Tell me, because I'm continuing to doubt everyday, who exactly do we have to look forward to? Lumsden and Sweeney as far as I'm concerned. Considering you are a pessimist with prospects why in the hell would you look forward to a guy who can't hit for power and hasn't hit .300 in any level of full season ball?

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 09:30 PM) By Liotta rocked you must've meant that he sucked, and unbelivably hard at that. Yeah, he got rocked is what I should have said.

Charlotte lost 3-0. 2 hits for the offense. Redding 7 IP, 3 R. Hermanson 1 IP, 0 R, 1 BB, 1 hit. Box Score Birmingham lost 2-1. They were in a rain delay mid 4 so Russell only got to pitch 3 innings. His line: 3 IP, 0 R, 3 K, 2 BB, 1 hit in his AA debut. Collaro with an RBI triple. Box Score Winston-Salem lost 12-6. De Los Santos 3-5 with an RBI and a run. Kelly 2-4, 2 RBI, walk. Liotta rocked. Box Score Kanny lost 10-6. Brandon Allen showing signs of life with 2 3 run HRs, numbers 5 and 6 on the year. Brooks shelled. Box Score Great Falls lost 15-4. Lawrence 3-3. Gilbert, Garcia, Cruz 2 hits each. Box Score

Tigers get Duckworth out of the game after scoring 5 on him in the 5th. It's 6-4 Tigers, still in the 5th.
-
Teahan with a 2 run bomb. 4-0 Royals, top 4.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jul 13, 2006 -> 01:44 AM) Pinned for your viewing pleasure. By the way, I got back tonight Dan so I'll shoot you my final stuff tomorrow and the last set will be good to go Cool, I tried to stretch these out so the last ten wouldn't be hanging waiting for your return. I'll probably get the last ten up Friday or Saturday then.

QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 11:39 PM) That GF pen is horrid. It just shifts daily. For Kanny, it looks like Israel Chirino is finally starting to put some nice outings out there. Kanny's pen has actually been very good this year. Chirino has had good numbers all year. Jason Rice was doing well until a few rough outings lately, still has an ERA under 4 and a WHIP of 1.13. Moviel has an ERA under 3 with a decent WHIP. Oneli Perez has been a total stud this year. 0.99 ERA at Kanny, got promoted now and hasn't given up an earned run in 7 innings at Winston-Salem. Omogrosso and Long replaced a couple of the week links in the pen that got demoted to Great Falls. Those two are going to do better than they have started. Kanny is a lot like the Cubs, heh, awful team with good bullpen and one of their best hitter's injured early in the year and just returning (Aaron Cunningham).

Barons lost 14-1. Getz 2-4. Rodriguez and Sierra rocked. West pitched well in relief. Box Score Winston-Salem lost 5-3. Whisler gave up 5 runs, only 1 earned, but 10 hits in 5.2 IP so it wasn't a good outing. Box Score Kanny won 4-1. Hernandez 2-4, double, RBI. Derek Rodriguez 7 IP, 1 R (0 ER), 5 K, 1 BB, 5 hits. Box Score Great Falls lost 9-2, giving up 7 runs in the top of the 9th. Carter with, yawn, another bomb, 9 on the year. Only 1-4 with 2 Ks though. Day 5 IP, 1 R. Urena was the one to get pummeled in the 9th. Box Score Bristol won 8-2. O'Donnell 3-4 with 2 runs. Gerst, Madsen, Gartrell, and Espinal each with 2 hits. Edwards 5 IP, 1 R. Box Score

QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 07:45 PM) this is really, really enjoyable. comcast should strike up a deal to show like 20 knights games a year... Yeah, I could see a deal where Comcast shows all/a good portion of the weekday day games for the Knights/Iowa Cubs.
-
Fields showed decent strike zone judgment and pretty good patience, but lacked contact skills. He barely got a piece of a couple fouls and looked awful on the whiffs. His swing is enormous. It's Joe Borchard+ haha.

QUOTE(WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Jul 12, 2006 -> 06:50 AM) How old is Carter, and isn't he repeating the league? 19 and no.
