  1. This s*** happens all the time in soccer. The fans are nuts. Earlier this season fans threw s*** on the field during a Champions League game in Rome after the ref gave a Roma player a red card. Something hit the ref and it got really ugly, as always. Even now, the mayor of Rome wants the Italian League to move a game to the afternoon because the two teams, both from Rome, are bitter rivals (think Cubs Sox with routier fans). He fears there will be more crimes at night than in the daytime. This is sadly par for the course.
  2. Damn, DBAH0, you beat me to it! This was a really long thread last year, so I figured we had to have it this year. 1. Brian Anderson BA likes to stick with guys who have been prospects for longer so he gets the nod over BMac. 2. Brandon McCarthy As of July he wasn't mentioned as a top 5 Sox prospect in a Ask BA section. Of course he dominated the Carolina League to make his stock skyrocket. They will want to see more from him this year, so I even hesitated to put him this high. 3. Ryan Sweeney Could be as high as 2, but a mediocre year (regardless of age, league, etc.) will make it easier for BA to place him below BMac. 4. Chris Young BA has quietly gushed over this kid. He was rated by one BA writer ahead of Fields in July. 5. Josh Fields 1st round pick with a solid year for a rookie. The only other spot he could be is 4, but even that is a stretch since BA loves Young. 6. Gio Gonzalez Loads of potential, decent start. He should be a guy that will easily jump up the list because of the supposed upside. 7. Francisco Hernandez This is tough because I think he could easily be higher than Gio. He was rated higher in the Appy League prospect rankings, but that was voted by managers. It could be a flip flop between 6 and 7. 8. Kris Honel BA loves sticking with prospects longer than most. Honel isn't old, but his injury obviously raises question marks. I wouldn't be overly surprised if they stick him higher on the list, but he will almost definitely be on the list somewhere. It doesn't hurt that there seems to be a dropoff after the top 7. 9. Arnie Munoz No matter what he does he seems to find himself in this area of the rankings. I would've thought him to be higher after his great start to the season, but he sucked with the Sox and in AAA. He might not even make the list, but again, BA sticks with prospects longer. I could be way off on this one. 10. Ray Liotta/Tyler Lumsden/I have no idea I guess that speaks for itself.
  3. 103 MPH Screwball is such an awesome concept that I had to vote for it. I mean, c'mon!! Think of how fast that fastball would be.

Brag much? Besides, it doesn't take an idiot to get into ISU. Oh wait, idiots are all over ISU. Nevermind...

    Math is Hard...

If our high school wiped APs off of kids' schedules and didn't replace them with anything we would have a lot of kids not taking any academic classes senior year. A friend of mine who is ranked 14th in the class is taking all APs this year...I keep doing this at him :rolly

    Math is Hard...

Honors are different classes 99% of the time. If there is little interest in a class (such as Russian, adv foreign language, or Astronomy) they have 1 class and those that take honors will have more homework and projects than the kids in the regular class. To be in honors classes you have to have department reccomendation.

    Math is Hard...

I took algebra 2 in 9th grade, but who cares. Here we have 3 levels, and started the split in 6th grade. So in HS you would start with either algebra 1, geometry, or algebra 2. However, only 2 of the 4 feeder junior highs over the advanced level. The furthest along you could be starting 9th grade was geometry at the other 2.
  9. I said I agreed with WHarris1, but was stating the other case as well. Both stats have some confounding variables so they aren't perfect. That's why it's best to look at both. I just said that the official stat for overall defense is yards allowed.
  10. I'd rather keep Curry and let his value raise if we are only going to get Sweetney. Curry has more talent than any of these guys, it's a matter of him applying it consistently. I know, I know, you've heard this before. My point is that his value can get no lower. Might as well just wait and see if Curry can improve his stock. You never sell the low.
  11. I'm out, this sucks. I don't like the idea.
  12. While this is true, turnovers and what not can make a score look worse than it is. For example, your very Bears only scored 3 points on the Titans defense, but had 16 points in the game from D and special teams. Overall defense is technically judged by yards against. The Bears rank 13th.
  13. I agree that they are a 6-7 win team and I already said so when breaking down their schedule. I did like their chances before Grossman and co. went down. However, I wasn't sure they were a playoff team. Also, I would like to see the d prove itself over a longer period of time than 2 weeks.
  14. By Cubs fans I meant they are the same people. Cubs fans will more often than not be Bears fans. I was speaking generally, not about you specifically.
  15. Whatever. Flukes happen, there is nothing wrong with them. They just get in the way of properly evaluating a team.
  16. Zoom- The Cats could be anywhere from 10th in the Big Ten to a bubble team. It all depends on the play of the freshman and the transfers. They need the freshman to at least add depth and at least one has to be able to contribute a decent amount. I don't know what to expect from Doyle, but Thompson has to be huge, even if only on the defensive end. I'm sick of seeing the Cats get lit up by guys like Nick Smith (no offense Illini fans, but he scored like a career high against us last year). I'm hoping for next season to be the tourney run with no seniors.
  17. How often do you see 5 turnovers in a game? s***...bunch of f***ing idiots. I'll be right, the Bears won't make the playoffs. My words can't get through to you, so your s***ty team's play will have to.

What the f*** is it with you Iowans and cottage cheese?
  19. That's not a fluke, that's the Bears being the Bears. But, yeah that sucks. I just think it's funny that you people are getting wrapped up in actually thinking the Bears can do well. Let's let the season unfold and we'll see the Bears in the cellar.
  20. Not plays, games. Forcing 5 turnovers in a game against the Giants is pretty fluky regardless of how good you think the Bears D is. Scoring 3 points on offense and winning a game, that's a fluke, period.
  21. DBAH0- This is the same way they had that 13-3 fluke season. Every game was a fluke until it wasn't a fluke anymore.
  22. Yeah, that's us. Scheyer is the best junior in the state by all accounts and was all state as a sophomore last year. Rumor was that he was possibly going to follow Julian Wright to college because they are friends (same AAU team). After Wright went to Kansas that doesn't look likely. I heard from one of the other guys on the team that basically if Jon was going to follow Wright it would be nice for them, but now that won't happen. This was soon after it was announced that Wright was to be a Jayhawk. So Shuf, you won't be landing the best junior in Illinois.
  23. How bad is Penn St? They already lost to Illinois St. (who appears decent, I'll get to that). Now, after beating Western Carolina, they lost South Carolina St. by 20 points. *Checks to make sure they play NU twice this year, they do * Meanwhile ISU has beaten its 2nd power conference team so far this year. After beating Penn St as mentioned they got creamed by Marquette, which is gonna happen. They followed that up with an 18 point win over Ole Miss. Solid, good for them.
