  1. Top 10 Performances of the Week A 5 Hit Performance Joins 4 Pitchers in the Top 5 By Danny Santaromita Here are the top 10 performances of the week by White Sox minor leaguers. The rankings were based solely on statistics. This is the ninth week the list has been in existence. This week covers the games from July 19-25. more...
  2. My thoughts exactly. I see Gio as our most untouchable even though he can't be dealt yet. Guys that good, that young are not to be dealt.
  3. I think that was a great explanation of why they have 'organizational' moves. When I first heard Rex use that term, it fits perfectly. I don't know if you made it up or not, but it's perfect. I had never heard of such a move until you mentioned them once or twice.
  4. Considering both are big time prospects they will definitely be playing at the next level next season. Anderson is an easy call. Sweeney's recent hot streak should move him up next season. I think the bigger question is whether Anderson can impress enough in ST to earn himself a spot on the team (this obviously has to do with our OF situation next year). I think it's doubtful, but ya never know if he pulls a Sweeney in ST.
  5. I got it too. I'll have to ask my dad since legally it's his account. I only use it for collegerpi.com anyway.
  6. Charlotte beat Columbus (Yankees) 10-7 in the 1st of a doubleheader. HRs for Nelson and Smith. Yofu shelled in start. Great relief including a Baj save. Box Score
  7. I'm personally thrilled with the new layout. Jason showed me what it's going to look like (well kinda) and it's gonna be kickass. We are going to have more features which is really what is great about FS. The minor league news can be had in other places, our unique features are our backbone. Not to say the news isn't great, Jason has broke a lot of stuff before most and that is impressive.
  8. Ding. Plus Kanny is closer to Charlotte than Birmingham so it's easier in that regard, I'm guessing that had something to do with it.
  9. I'm just going to ponder possibilities with what they could do with Gio down the road. If he does well in Kanny this year, he could be in Winston-Salem next season. 2005 could be split between Winston-Salem or Birmingham if he does well. 2006 he could be at Charlotte, maybe getting a September call. That might even be conservative as sometimes dominating pitchers will skip levels and the Sox have been known to call up guys straight from AA (Buehrle, Cotts, Munoz doesn't count because he had pitched a whole season at AAA last year).
  10. Anderson Sweeney (though I wouldn't mind trading him if we got an all-star, I just don't want him to be tossed around) Diaz (only because we won't get proper value for him after what he did with the Sox this year) BMac
  11. He had a 2.93 ERA through May and oddly enough he had the same exact ERA on July 1st. What's impressive about what he has done lately is that he has gone deeper into games than I remember him doing so earlier. Also on Anderson, when I saw him in Spring Training this year I was surprised. On my scouting notes from the game I wrote, "Anderson, 1-1, triple rope. deceptive speed. fielding gaff, shallow ball he let fall that I thought he could have had, led to run." By deceptive speed I mean he didn't burn the basepaths on his triple, but by the end of the play he was on 3rd easily, surprisingly. He was pretty solid in the outfield other than that one play, I didn't see him as a centerfielder though. This, of course, was just one game.
  12. Tracey has been good the whole year. Lots of stuff to post on the Barons 19-2 slaughter. Just look at the box. Box Score
  13. 2 hits and a HR for Becker is all the Warthogs needed. Sean Tracey pitched 6 shutout innings as part of a shutout. Box Score Birmingham is crushing Montgomery 8-0 in the 6th!
  14. Miller, Rodriguez, and Haigwood all have ERAs above 4 and while all have shown flashes and streaks Flores is by far having the best year. 4+ ERAs don't deserve promotion.
  15. Great news! But who is going to get moved up? You could argue a case for Flores or even Whisler because he has been so dominant.
  16. It was Sean Tracey's turn in the rotation for the 'Hogs. Talk about a stud!
  17. C- Donny Lucy 1B- Brandon Bounds 2B- Robert Valido (I'm taking a liberty with this because these are our best 2 middle infield prospects imo) SS- Andy Gonzalez 3B- Josh Fields OF- Brian Anderson OF- Ryan Sweeney OF- Chris Young SP- Gio Gonzalez SP- Brandon McCarthy SP- Felix Diaz SP- Ryan Wing SP- Sean Tracey SU- Matt Smith SU- Josh Fields CL- Jeff Bajenaru
  18. Nothing to say, you just gotta laugh at that.
  19. Apparently someone beat me to spliting this topic. Cheers to whoever did it, this thread can still be salvaged. Anyway, if BMac and Whisler keep pitching like this you can punch their tickets at Birmingham and Winston-Salem respectively next year.
  20. Not with Justin Morneau breaking through. The Twins continue to be a pipeline of talent. Mientsky is expendable to get Benson because Morneau is coming up. Cuddyer is going to make Koskie expendable at the end of the season. This sucks.
  21. Yeah, I left Brice off too. I figure DBAHO can more than make up for us.
  22. Wow, and I thought my list was long!
  23. I'm listening to the Warthogs game on the radio (Listen Here) and BMac is starting. The announcers were in agreement that he reminded them of Mark Prior in his tall, thin stature and great control. When interviewing BMac previously they said he told them that he has been compared to Prior before. They also mentioned Black Jack McDowell and Mike McDougal as similar pitchers to BMac. The 'Hogs are up 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd against last place Lynchburg. Darren Blakely hit a 2-run HR to drive in Sweeney. BMac has 3 strikeouts, no walks, 2 hits through 2.
