So why does Shoeneweis, who has been worse in the last 2 months, get the nod over Loaiza?
-
Yeah, that 3.68 ERA in May was awful. rolleyeyes.gif
-
Actually 2-1, they both missed the Anaheim series.
-
Why does he need to put 5-7 good starts in a row when Schoeneweis probably hasn't had that many good starts all season long?

The Knights won 3-2 in 10 innings. 2 doubles and a run for Nelson, 2 hits and a walk for Taylor. Stewart with another great outing. Baj 3/3 in save opps at Charlotte. Box Score Warthogs lost 9-7 in a wild one to Myrtle Beach. 14 hits for each team. Lopez and Brice both went 3-6. Fields and Rosa with 2 hits each. Oddly enough Sweeney was the only player in the lineup to go without a hit and he has been hot of late. Fields is up to .243 and Brice is at .241, good to see both adjusting to high-A ball. Reynoso struck out 6 in 4 shutout innings in his start. Bullpen (including Lumsden) was awful. Box Score

This is quite cool, I must say I'm shocked us and the Twins are doing this well. Here's to having 2 AL Central teams in the playoffs!
-
Bristol lost 4-1. They only managed 4 hits, Evan Tartaglia had 2 of them and scored their only run. Jay Marshall struck out 11 in 6 innings while giving up 2 runs (1 earned). Box Score

We actually got a thread on time today! Kanny lost 5-2. Young with a HR. Box Score

That's what I've been thinking. It might drop his value and could drop him into what the Sox are willing to pay. However if Maggs doesn't want to sign with us and that's why he's been turning down our offers I have a hard time we will have a shot anyway.

It's grammar like that that shows up often in his articles. And to think he got the best grade in his writing class. Shows the quality education Jason is getting at Fullerton.

As I said we would have to wait and see. The team would have to struggle mightily. I'm thinking 4+ games out by the deadline. This of course is highly unlikely, but I sure as hell am not going to mortgage any more of the future for another rental. I just don't see it in this team. They better put up or shut up in this next week.

LMAO. I was humming that just after reading the first line of your post. Then I pause only to read the 2nd line in utter shock. Great minds think alike!
-
It's entirely up to you.
-
Fine but this is the last time I do an article like this without you telling me to. It sucks doing work and then being one up'ed by your speculation article.
-
I'd let Borchard play in rightfield. If the team sucks along with Borchard the Sox will have to pull a white flag trade. If he does well the Sox should get a catcher (Kendall). Though if we got Delgado I would piss my pants. That would be awesome. I can't see Delgado doing as badly as he has done this year. Plus he is one of my favorite players.

Damnit Jason I was so first. Heads told me to do it.

I noticed this myself and couldn't believe it. Unfortunately the Maggs injury is going to be a b**** to overcome.

Borchard Back with White Sox Borchard back in bigs after Maggs injury By Danny Santaromita Joe Borchard is back for another stint with the Chicago White Sox. The 25 year-old outfielder will replace Magglio Ordonez on the White Sox roster. Ordonez is going back on the DL after reaggravating an injury in his left knee. Borchard was batting .267 with 16 HRs and 48 RBI with the AAA Charlotte Knights before getting called up July 9th to replace Frank Thomas in the White Sox lineup. The 2000 first-round pick of the White Sox went 3-19 with 2 runs in 6 games during his time in Chicago. The Carl Everett trade forced Borchard back to Charlotte. Since getting sent back to the Knights Borchard has gone 3-13 (.231) with 4 walks and 4 runs in 4 games. Borchard will likely be playing rightfield as he did earlier with the White Sox. The former Stanford outfielder has played parts of the last 3 seasons with the White Sox batting .192 with 3 HRs and 10 RBI.

Ugh, that's what I get for not posting the boxes myself. A longass page with few actual posts. *grumbles to self about long box scores created as posts*
-
Jason, where did you see that. I went looking for it (not that hard) and couldn't find it. A side note that I thought was funny: There was somebody posting about the trades KW made and basically made the point that Reed and Olivo aren't doing anything. Like we can tell this early. rolleyeyes.gif :knob

Anybody know when the Rule 5 draft is?

We've been spacey on this board lately. We've missed or been late a lot on the game threads. I'm too lazy to post the box scores, but Gio pitched well (6 IP, 1 run, 7 K) while getting a tough luck loss. You can to go minorleaguebaseball.com or sportsnetwork.com and find the box scores there.

Let's just say I strongly disagree. I like the fact that you backed up your statements, but Royce Ring? C'mon. He is currently a middle reliever in AA who has 0 saves on the season between AA and AAA. The Texas trade is still up in the air. By prospect status it would appear we overpaid, but Webster isn't getting it done and he was supposedly the best of the bunch. Everett did very well with us in 2003 and if we only give up an average middle reliever for him (Francisco) than it was a good trade. Speaking of which, am I the only one not impressed with his 4.56 ERA and 1.52 WHIP?

"Kotex boy" with the quotes has Mariotti 2nd.

Top 10 Performances of the Week Pitchers take 4 out of top 5 spots. By Danny Santaromita Here are the top 10 performances of the week by White Sox minor leaguers. The rankings were based solely on statistics. This is the 8th week the list has been in existence. This week covers the games from July 12th through July 18th.
