QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 12:04 PM) Steroids aren't the only answer for players getting busted by the new policy. For Bears fans, I'm sure you all remember Jim Miller getting suspended 4 games for violating the NFL's substance abuse program. He never took steroids, but there was a banned substance in the suppliment he was taking that made him fail the drug test. I'm not sure about what substances are banned by major league baseball, but I'd say that there's a good possibility that Palmiero and Franklin could have a similar case as Jim Miller. MLB has said they have tested postive for Steroids.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 10:16 AM) It is really starting to look like there is a chance that this game could be the clincher. How cool would that be? I am going, so that theory could bode well. I was in attendance for the '83, '93, and 2000 clinching games. Also, so people know... If you already have tickets to the game, you can purchase only the Patio Party for $28.00. I called Anthony to confirm this, just make a special note on the sheet when you fax it in.

That's just what the Dems need!!

QUOTE(black jack @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 09:40 AM) How does it work again? You put a player on waivers... A team claims him and you can pull him back or let that team take him? If the player clears then you can trade him? Yes, when a player clears you can trade him to anyone. If a player is clamied you can pull him off and then negotiate with the team. Also, I recall, Manny Ramirez cleared waivers last year.

QUOTE(Milkman delivers @ Aug 2, 2005 -> 08:56 AM) Can someone tell me who some of the bigger names were that have been picked up through waivers? One of biggest in recent years was Fred McGriff by Atlanta in the mid-90s.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 05:10 PM) I think he's connected with the fans just fine.. it's the media he has an issue with. I agree Steff. I had the sincere pleasure and honor of meeting and chatting with the Big Man a few times. At one Soxfest he was signing autographs for a long line of people, I asked him to sign one of grey kids gloves they sell at the park, for toddlers. I said "Could you sign this for my Son" "Sure, how old is he?" "Just over a month old.." He asked if I had a picture, I took out my wallet and showed him. He told me that's a big kid for one month and that my son with take his job in 20 years. He connected fine, by me.

I love Uribe game ending DP. He tells Pablo: "I'll take this myself E-4"

QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:32 AM) Is Raffy eligible to play or is he suspended without opportunity to appeal? He already went through the appeal process. He is now out for 10 games.

QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) Maybe we can kill it now. Why?? Deals can still be made. Don't look.

I don't think Steff is referring to Jayson Stark.

QUOTE(RibbieRubarb @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 11:08 AM) From the Orioles official website: Rafael's statement A brief translation: I couldn't tell what was being injected into me, due to the fact I was bent over and the "trainer" was putting the shot in my ass. Subsequently, I couldn't read the label.

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:19 AM) LMAO... The friend that I stayed with has a condo on the other side of the harbor from Hooters so walking back to his place I saw tons of Sox fans. Then we went out to the bars within walking distance. But leave it to you to make it dirty.. Moi? :rolly

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 08:25 AM) There were a lot there both Saturday and Sunday. I didn't get there until after 10 Friday but there were a lot of Sox fans out in the harbor and the bars. Very nice showing. Harbor bars, eh? Thought you might want some extra seamen on your poopdeck?

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 09:02 AM) I'm not too worried about it. Just trying to give his legs a rest. He's been in a mini-SB slump of late, and we don't have many off-days in the near future. We need to keep his legs as fresh as possible, so he can do what he does best. I see that. In the last week he had 6 CS.

From Scott Reifert's blog: I can see giving Gooch a day off. But why two days in a row for Scotty?

QUOTE(Steff @ Aug 1, 2005 -> 08:01 AM) And don't let this deter you from going. Just got back this morning and I love it more every time I go. I agree. It is a great city. Also, repesent Chicago in a classy way. Don't be loud and obnoxious. You'd hate it if someone did the same thing at The Cell in front of you.
