  1. QUOTE(Ozzie Montana @ Jul 21, 2005 -> 07:30 AM) I wouldnt call SS2k5's comments appropriate or smart eihter. Dude did you really need to put this in :headshake Make your point and leave it at that. With these comments there will be attacking from both sides, RibbieRubarb. You expect latino_heat30 to take this bulls***. I expect people to act with some decorum. This is not an anonymous message board, ala ESPN or MLB.com. A lot of people here know each other. The atmosphere is is that of a group of friends at a tailgate or sports bar, hashing out the headlines. SS2k5's comments about him being drunk were toungue-in-cheek. Anyone who reads his posts would know that. (You can't miss them) latino_heat was trying to be BMOC like they do on other message boards. That is not tolereated here. He can post whatever he wants about Rowand. But be prepared to back it up with facts and logical reasoning, because there are smart people here who will do just that toward the opposite opinion. Replying with faux-macho BS is childish and makes his position one of mockery, not trust.
  2. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 01:59 PM) It's a desert here? Yeah! Move where the food is..!!!
  3. His knee is bothering him, but not enough to effect his pitching. He is calling it quits after a bad game?? This is an odd story. http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/recap?gameId=250720120
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 04:30 PM) Ezequiel Astacio started the game today for the Astros today. He is one of the ugliest ballplayers EVER. "Damn! He is ugly!"
  5. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) I hate to disagree, but there is nothing short term about it. Aaron has been disappointing this entire season, and to argue against that is just ignorant, and to say you didn't expect A LOT more would be lying. Yes, Aaron is capable of being a .300 hitter, but right now he is a .284 hitter. I believe KW and co. expected Aaron to continue his upward trend from last year, when in part time duty he hit .310 with a .544 slugging percentage. Hell, the year before (2003,) Aaron hit .287 with a .452 slugging percentage. What is his slugging percentage this year? A HORRIBLE .391. I am sorry but that is not going to cut it. Aaron Rowand has been a huge disappointment this year. I love him, but its true. I was only referring to him defensively.
  6. QUOTE(thelatinoheat_30 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:26 PM) funny how you didn't say i was wrong. what was the point of that? i know he's good defensively, just pointing out that he's had a few lapses lately. obviously you are drunk or you and that other guy are buddies, cause what i commented on is EXACTLY what DJ commented on. i don't think he'd be allowed on-air drunk. dj can also see the whole field, whose word am i gonna take? dj, a former pro player, or you, someone who obviously overlooks mistakes by his players. easy choice.(and it's not you) Let me be perfectly clear. You never metioned "lately". You were talking about Aaron's defense as a whole. If you meant, just this series, you were not clear. But your attack on SS2k5 was neither nice, appropiate nor smart.
  7. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:25 PM) What about his play in this series? Even a .300 hitter fails 7 times to hit a ball. But I understand the short term memory of a lot of fans, especially after a loss.
  8. QUOTE(That funky motion @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:21 PM) During the rain delay today,did anybody else catch Mark and Willie slideing on the tarp today. They both did it twice and were having a ball. I couldnt see Ozzie in the dugout. I'm sure he had no clue. Gotta love Mark! Mark loves his tarp. Soxtalk.com should send him a slip-n-slide as a gift.
  9. QUOTE(thelatinoheat_30 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:09 PM) i guess you really don't watch the games after all. AND PLEASE BEFORE MAKING ANYMORE STUPID COMMENTS, WATCH A GAME OR TWO. Take me on Smart guy... I'm a season ticket holder. I've seen almost all the home games...live. I sit right behind home plate in the first few rows in the upper deck. I see his defensive postioning before pitches and for every batter. I can see the WHOLE field and watch WHOLE plays develop. Something you CAN'T do watching TV. I've seen the way he backs up his teammates, takes great routes to the ball, makes the correct throw, hits the cutoff man...etc. He is a great defensive outfielder who makes great decisions. I COMPLETELY disagree with you on your "scouting report" and agree with SS2K5 that you must be drunk. Now...is there anything more you'd like to add.
  10. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:46 AM) Jealous much? One of these days, I'll have to do a Rules for Spamming thread, until then my secrets are safe. When the baby is born...his spamming days will be over!
  11. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 10:00 AM) Who you been talking to... ?? p.s... I don't spit. Should I feel: or
  12. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:57 AM) Hu...??? The offense wet itself from the get go. Or did you just spit coffee in their laps??
  13. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 06:49 AM) You want me to post more? I'm only one man!! (well one man and 16 computer automated response programs) In all seriousness, glad you had a great time at the game. The renovations to the park make it one of the best parks in all of baseball. You...post less. Give the server a break. You're like a old man with a case of Viagra and a free hooker. I'm not really sure what that means.
  14. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 09:41 AM) May he pess in peace.. I hope you meant pass and not piss. RIP Scotty.
  15. QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 08:21 AM) Sigh.. if only our Delorian wasn't in the shop. Damn...Cause my Flux Capacitor is...Fluxing.
  16. It's not the beer that getS me...It's the Sox Spilt!! I CAN'T STOP BUYING IT!! I NEED IT. I WANT THAT GREEN TICKET!!! MORE MORE MORE!!!
  17. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 07:29 AM) The Sox lost last night? And the Twins won? OH MY GOD! SOMEBODY NEEDS TO GET TRADED FOR SOMEONE ELSE! HEADS NEED TO ROLL! SOMEONE NEEDS TO DO.......SOMETHING!! THIS IS BAD PEOPLE! NOT BAD LIKE IM NAKED AT SCHOOL IN MY DREAM BAD, BUT MORE LIKE I AM NAKED AT AN ALL MALE-SCHOOL IN MY DREAM BAD. THATS REALLY BAD PEOPLE. IF THE WHITE SOX DONT TRADE JERMAINE DYE AND AARON ROWAND AND BRANDON MCCARTHY FOR KEN GRIFFEY JR STRAIGHT UP, THEN IT WILL GET WORSE! PLEASE, SOMEONE DO SOMETHING! A 5 GAME WIN STREAK TO START THE SECOND HALF AND A 12 GAME LEAD OVER THE TWINS ISNT ENOUGH. ITS TIME TO PANIC PEOPLE! (If you wish, imagine the above statement in green. I dont think it is necassary) I DON'T KNOW WHAT WERE SCREAMING ABOUT! I ate a red candle.
  18. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:28 PM) In 2000 Sox sit on there ass at deadline, 2005 they better go for it, best record in baseball at playoff time to lose 3 in a row does not mean a thing. They picked up Charles Johnson and Harold Baines at the deadline. No pitching though...
  19. QUOTE(Soxnbears01 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 06:49 PM) stop saying silly silly
  20. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 20, 2005 -> 12:31 AM) All we're hearing from KW and Ozzie is that if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Sounds good on the surface. But in reality if the Sox were in a dogfight with the Twins they'd be far more aggressive and willing to add to this team, even if it cost some clubhouse favorites their ticket out of town. But they're not in a dogfight, so what's the point, right? Does that mean you don't look to improve? In terms of importance, does chemistry trump talent? Is this 12 game lead over the Twins keeping the Sox from improving the talent on their roster for fear of guys not getting along? In the league standings the Sox are 7 games up on the Angels. A bit more sobering and certainly worth watching when home field means so much. Boston won the WS last year and they're starting to make some moves. The Sox haven't won squat and they're standing pat? I don't like it. Who's to say a radical move like trading favorites like a Rowand or even a Konerko might not work out? Would you rather have Jermaine Dye or Ken Griffey Jr.? There's too much fear of messing up a good thing instead of thinking of making a good thing better. A great thing, even. I'm not saying I don't like a 12 game lead. Make it 20! This isn't about just beating the Twins. Or is it? Man...it's one negative post after another with you. Let's completely revamp the line-up, eh? Trade three starters for who?? Who will take them?? Have you thought that through?? Where will you trade Pual, what will you get in return? Same with Aaron...Jermaine... Now, the propects you will trade away, also... There is an old saying. Don't be part of the problem, be part of the solution. Your posts have been nothing but complaints and nitpicking against the team with the best record in the Majors. Come up with realistic solutions, if you are so concerned. ESPN recently did a feature on blockbuster trades at the deadline. The majority that went on to the World Series and won did NOT make a blockbuster trade. Yes, they made tiny trades to bolster a bullpen or bench. But not to the degree you suggest. Boston last year was an exception, not the rule. Might I suggest easing up on the fantasy baseball mentality when approaching this team. In Fantasy baseball you can trade half your team to another team...because it's a fantasy. There is soemthing to be said about chemistry. It's not a major cog in the wheel, but it helps. Just some advice...Enjoy this team. We may never have another season like this again.
  21. QUOTE(Heads22 @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:33 PM) Also, if anyone starts any s*** there, they will be permanently banned. poophead
  22. QUOTE(Da Sox @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 05:38 PM) ok Da Sox, There is old saying... If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. Glad you had a great time SS! Post more!!! Always great to hear fun times at the ole ballpark.
  23. Let me insert something you forgot. A MAJOR difference between the two teams is the pitching. I disagre that a lot of our pitchers are having "career" years. Mark and Freddy are solid vets who in line with their career numbers. Jon is at an age when the majority of pitchers mature to their talents. In 2000, our pitching got HURT. We went into the postseason with no healthy starters. Our opening game was pitched by Jim "5 Inning" Parque. Our offense in 2000 was all or nothing, just like the last few years. They were too reliant on the 3-run homer. This year is different. I don't think people realize that enough. Faster, Smarter, Stellar Defense... They are completely two different teams. Just comparing batting averages does not paint a complete picture. Optimism is called for...not pessimism I don't understand that statement AT ALL. Our optimism is INCREDIBLY justified. After all the games I've gone too, the amazing comebacks I've witnessed, different heroes every night...Yeah...it's OK to think this is our year! Go ahead...refer to my opinion and enthusiasm like I am a Cub fan. I refuse NOT to enjoy this magical season.
  24. Next thing we know people will be suggesting we pick-up Rick White. Oh wait...
  25. QUOTE(LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 02:57 PM) Waving white socks should be a HUGE Sox tradition. Not sure why it never catches on. I never really got it. I thought it looked silly seeing socks being waved. I always thought the White Sox thing was "Nah-Nah..Hey Hey Goodbye" when we started rallying. When Nancy pounds out the first few chords after we've pounded a pitcher...it still gives me chills. Do we need socks, too? Maybe I'm being silly.
