This is where Kenny's relationship with other GMs comes into play. His reputation around the league is a good one. GMs like his style and willingness to make every deal a win-win for both sides.

QUOTE(daa84 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 08:33 PM) its justified tho...when someone posts something that says nightengale is saying on the radio that the deal is done, i think alot of ppl would posting. unfortunately for the 1000000th time this appears to be a false alarm I agree...it's just fun. I'm as guilty as anyone!

QUOTE(SoxPhan7 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 07:18 PM) This is what I found from the game story on ESPN.com: Shawn Camp (1-2), promoted Monday from Triple-A Omaha, pitched a perfect 13th. The White Sox protested the game because Camp was not listed on the lineup card. "The right side of the card is a courtesy" for the reserves and the bullpen, Bell said. "Apparently, they don't know the rules. The protest is a non-issue for me." I dont like Bell's tone there but it sounds like he knows what he is talking about. That's what I was thinking after reading the rules. The only thing that matters on the card is the batting line-up.
-
I didn't go through the game thread to see if anyone posted this yet, but I have been looking through the rulebook for a passage on "using a player not on the line-up card". I found this: It's the last line that indicated to me why the protest won't be upheld. KC will argue that the umpires should have noticed that they were a man short on the line-up card and informed then before the game. Selig will agree. That's what I found, did anyone else have any luck with something more specific to the situation? A precedence, perhaps? Soxtalk.com needs to hire a paralegal department.

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 04:53 PM) I never thought i'd say this about this team this year but they really could miss the playoffs... Not only is it possible but if they continue to play like this it's likely... The fact is that Ross Gloads bad defense was the Anchor that brought this team down... Last night it was Willie Harris and Juan Uribe... As for Willie and Ross, AAA sounds good... Uribe.... well he can be a bench player.. get a decent SS... without these three losers this is a sweep... .if these three are allowed to play in any meaningful way that not only is it likely we will miss the playoffs, but a certainty... Dude, you are awesome!!! You should post everyday!!! That is one of funniest posts ever!! It's obviously a joke! Because no one could make those statements and be serious!! -

2 more errors today. This is not White Sox baseball. Each guy should take a moment and slap themselves in the face and remember how they got to this point in the season. -

QUOTE(retro1983hat @ Jul 27, 2005 -> 02:13 PM) Dye should bat 3,4, or 5 beginning Friday. Since returning to the line-up, Dye has gone 6-13, 1 Hr, 7 Rbis in three games. He's got Spidey-sense from those bites! -

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 12:00 PM) For those who are registered at the Trib's site, check out the drawings of the building. It would be totally unique in the Chicago skyline. Loos like someone's compensatiing for the lack of something, eh???

QUOTE(sweatpants @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) When he isn't hitting well, then his injuries are nagging him. Yeah...it kind a works that way. Also, here are other revelations about Franks actions: When he's thristy, then he drinks water. When he's hungry, then he eats food. When he vomits, he just read your post. :puke

QUOTE(sweatpants @ Jul 26, 2005 -> 11:03 AM) I have been a White Sox fan the last 20 years and my favorite player since 1990 was Frank Thomas. I collected all his cards and magazine covers, but I don't know if this has been discussed before, but doesn't it seem like when Frank is hitting well, no injuries are bothering him. When he isn't hitting well, then his injuries are nagging him. There was a article in Sports Illustrated a while back hinting Pete Sampras would try to fake in an injury in the middle of a match he's losing in a scapegoat ploy to losing to lesser foe. I do know Frank is hurt, but could he be embelishing it a little bit because he's hitting so bad(average wise)? You are right on the money with your theory. Frank HAS to be faking it. It all makes sense! My God, why didn't I think of that. There is NO way he could still be hurting after surgery. Surgery heals, it doesn't cause more pain. The team has the best record in baseball...you're right i would NOT want to be on that team! Pete Sampras & Tennis = Frank Thomas & Baseball. Perfect comparison. Can we trade him for AJ Burnett? um...imagine it in green.

Who would you guys rather face in the playoffs....

QUOTE(103 mph screwball @ Jul 25, 2005 -> 02:17 PM) Score update said that Frank is very disapponted in the progress with his ankle and is going to go back and see the doctor who did his surgery. He will also have more tests. Aww....f*** me sideways with a football. I hate hearing that. I hope he gets better.
