QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:14 PM) Good grief... not only was I crying from before the start of game 1... I think I was still a bit weapy at the parade. I'm with you. I don't think I will ever be over it. But that makes us cowards... I wish I was jaded like the brave few...but I'm not.

I didn't visit the one listed here, but every 7-11 is selling Simpsons products. I picked up some Krusty-Os and Buzz cola today. http://www.chicagotribune.com/entertainmen...1,6979365.story

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:04 PM) Don't try to paint me as a fair weather fan cause I'm not. Never have been and never will be. If anything I'm too passionate about this team. I dismissed it as Blah blah blah, cause I know the argument I am gonna get from people when I argue about KW and why I don't believe he is a good GM. No one was happier we won in 05, but that was 2 years ago, and I'm over that. I still have good memories, but I don't live in the past, that's for cowards. So for you to say I said the title was meaningless, you are puuting words in chief. It meant so much to you, but you're over it a year and half later....ok I will NEVER be over that...or macho grande.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 03:01 PM) Mark is an excellent pitcher. He is not an ace outside of the CWS. I understand your feelings, but unless you step outside of the box you will never be able to look at the stuation objectively. Agree. I agree, because whatever he stepped on in the box is showing up in his posts.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) Winning a world series doesn't make you great. In Kenny's case it makes you lucky!!! So, just to be clear...Kenny was lucky in 2005 but is completely to blame in 2007. You're a loser in second place, but lucky if you win a World Series. Got it. It's like a watching a dog chasing his tail reading your posts.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Obviously at the beginning of the season it's every teams goal to win the world series. Obviously only one can. I believe that a GM should be based upon not just winning games but winning divisions and playoff appearances. Just because KW won a World series doesn't make him a good Gm. During his tenure Kenny Williams has never had a losing season. Thats pretty good in comparison to the other names you mentioned who had many seasons in their first years under .500. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) Just because KW won a World series doesn't make him a good Gm. He has won 1 year in the 7 he has been here. Sure that one has resulted in the first World series Championship in 88 years for the city, blah blah blah. Blah, blah, blah??? The title was that meaningless to you? That quote really is the epitome of a fair-weather fan. I'm sure the most hardened pessimist on this board would never dimiss our 2005 season as Blah, blah,blah. QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 02:20 PM) You listen to any knowlegable baseball fan and they will tell you, you lock up good starting pitching, that's where it all starts. And he refuses to do that. But yet he will give JC a 3 year deal with the 1st year a NTC. Where is the logic in that?? I missed the press release where Kenny refused to do that? Nice of you to make that up, though. As for JC, he got a ONE YEAR NTC!!!! Not for the entire length of his deal, which is what Mark wants. It's been reported that Kenny has countered with that or a limited no-trade clause ala Paul. I will agree it's hard to find logic when you don't use the facts in your argument.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 01:50 PM) A losers mentality to you is making the playoffs and not winning a game?? So not making the playoffs and being happy that you won 90 games though isn't a losers mentality?? You lost me bro. You totally lost me. At the beginning of the season the goal is to win a Championship. If you ask a player how you do that, he will tell you, we have to get in the playoffs first, and then see what happens. Sort of like we did in 2005. So taking what you say, if we would have choked away the division in 05 and not made the playoffs, we still would have been winners, but if we would have made the playoffs and lost you would have preferred that?? WOW!!! I don't get that at all. You say the Championship is the main goal??? But, in another thread you said several GMs were better than Kenny even though they never won a World Series. Which is it?

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 12:46 PM) But I will answer your question. John Schuerholz Terry Ryan Dave Dombrowski Walt Jocketty Bob Melvin Omar Minaya Theo Epstein Mark Shapiro Billy Beane Now I am sure I will get the argument from you that most of then have never won a World series, but in my opinion they are better overall GM's. Um...sorry to inform you, but winning the World Series does make Kenny a great GM. Ask Billy Beane. What have Omar Minaya or Doug Melvin (who is so good, you didn't know his name) done better than Kenny? NOTHING. You are too biased to see straight.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 12:31 PM) KW is a stupid a** f***ing idiot who doesn't know s***. That is all you need to f***ing know. I'm sure that's not exact, but I'd bet high it's close.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:40 AM) I have more faith that there will be peace in the middle east, than I do with KW selling off our players and building a team that will compete in the fututre. This will go down as our Greg Maddux, but oh I forgot "WE ARE CHICAGO BASEBALL" Yeah those trades he made, with major pieces of the team, in 2003 and 2004 really bit us in the ass. But I can see why you wouldn't have any faith...KW has no history of winning.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jul 2, 2007 -> 11:29 AM) Oh, I know. I just wanted to make it clear for J-MAN since from his post it seemed he didn't see it the previous times I stated it. LOL.. I guess I can be mocked since I continue to pay Thats why I stopped paying...So I can no longer be mocked.

QUOTE(diegotony06 @ Jul 1, 2007 -> 09:30 PM) Knowing KW and his manlove for the guy, I wouldn't be surprised one bit if he brings him back. He's the kind of guy you build a champion around will be KW's reason for re-signing him. I really despise KW. First off..you don't know KW. Second, since you so openly hate KW all that he's done...who is a good GM in your eyes?

Scott Boras' intentions are in the right place. I like his idea of announcing the post-season awards before the first game like the Heisman. MLB needs to improve its marketing plans to make the Series and the sport more of an event...ala the NFL. But Nine games is a bit much...Here is the story and his other ideas. http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-n...p&type=lgns Since it's Boars' idea does that mean the White Sox will choose not be involved in the World Series?

QUOTE(iamshack @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:44 AM) Oh come on. The Score reported it was done, or close to being done, but at least they knew something was happening. I guarantee you that AM 1000 and Bruuuuuuuce Levine knew something was going on as well, but wanted to make the Score look as poorly as possible in breaking the story and trying to scoop them. Thus, they get the most polar opposite quote (from Mark's agent) they can and repeat IT all day. So basically we had two radio stations yesterday, one saying a deal was practically done, and the other pretending as though absolutely nothing was going on. And both were dead wrong, and probably knew as much. They're like two stubborn kids refusing to share.

QUOTE(Greg The Bull Luzinski @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:31 AM) I am amazed the Offman still has a job after losing most of his credibility yesterday. Joseph Stalin would have had Offman taken outside and side for bad intelligence. Don't let Levine off the hook...He stated NOTHING is taking place while everyone is flying to Florida. The desiree to get the Scoop is powerful and makes men do studpid things. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Jun 28, 2007 -> 10:32 AM) That is a real positive sign. If Jerry is involved, that means something big is brewing. The chairman only gets involved in the big stuff. Just like Sinatra...only got involved when JFK needed hookers! Other than that Peter Lawford took care of it.

QUOTE(whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 27, 2007 -> 01:29 PM) 1:30 update time. Is The Score sticking to their guns? Offman is sticking to the story.
