  1. Could help explain why we don't have a catcher yet. If that's close to the price for Stephenson, I'm rolling the dice on Quero bouncing back into form.
  2. I don’t think they have.
  3. His high in IP was 2024, when he threw 88 innings. After yesterday’s start, he’s at 88ip this season. Even if you stretch him to 120, that’s only 5-6 more starts.
  4. If Schultz was where they want him to be, he would’ve been moved to the pen to extend his value this season before hitting his IP limit. That they’re willing to burn those remaining innings in the rotation through a handful more starts screams that they’re more concerned with development than 2026 impact, imo. A good thing for the future but sort of a damning take on where their current evaluation of him is at. All speculation, of course, but Fedde has far and away been the better starter the last month or two.
  5. Mason Miller is the only guy rumored to be available who I’d be willing to send Braden out for.
  6. $413M luxury taxable payroll this season. They have over $1B in deferred money. It’s an unhealthy league when one team can spend 400% more on its roster than another. I know this Skubal deal isn’t about the loot, but they don’t have that farm system to make these types of midseason deals without big FA signings. Ya know, like throwing $60M/yr at Kyle Tucker last offseason.
  7. I so hope they get knocked out of the playoffs early. F’n ridiculous.
  8. Raked over the coals? We gave up a no name OF, a AA guy who was on no one’s radar before this season, and an MLB closer we’re paying $10M to no longer pitch in any high leverage situation. In return we get a 33yo SP with a solid history. Castillo allowed 7er twice in April and 5er in a recent start against the Dodgers. That’ll hurt ann ERA. Outside of that, he hasn’t given up more than 4er in a start all season. He’s had 3QS in June and July, with another 2QS where he was yanked after 5 2/3. Getz wasn’t raked over the coals. None of us should give a s%*# about money. The only drawback is Smith, an unproven guy in AA who isn’t doing a damn thing for us to help win games this season.
  9. A week ago, last Friday night, Ser was awful and a big part of our worst loss of the season. 2 good outings and now he’s fixed? And f*** Kimbrel
  10. He’s at like 95 pitches. I think Rasmussen is done with Benni leading off the 7th.
  11. I'm not buying this rumor, at all. Unless our pitching coordinators, who already have a pretty mixed record of success, have identified an easy-to-fix flaw with Peralta and feel they can make him absolutely dominant and do so quickly, I don't think this is the kind of deal Getz is looking to make. The checkbook is open, why the hell would he choose to spend farm assets instead?
  12. Reads like his 4seam usage is way down, rather than way up. He’s throwing his sinker regularly in triple digits. If he can get sinker movement at that velocity, it makes sense he’d essentially dump the 4 seamer.
  13. It’s mental. He’s pressing with RISP and, to make matters worse with RISP, he’s clearly being coached to approach every AB with a “be the aggressor” attitude. The good news? He seems very coachable, and kinda proved to be in AZ last season. The bad news? He’s light on instinct and clearly needs to start being coached on situational approaches. TBF, he did have a few singles/doubles for RBI the last week or so, so perhaps these convos have already started.
  14. Not familiar enough with all the targets and contract situations, but I think we’ll see a very “eating loot” kinda deadline. Carlson could be trade bait, but I don’t think Getz is quite there yet. Throw some dollars at the roster and see how it shakes out. It’s too early to be putting serious chips in, imo. I believe Getz is in the same state of mind.
  15. So clutch. A confident Hicks has the ability to completely change the future of this team. The ability to shorten a game to 7 innings is YUGE.
  16. That was a very, very important win for the belief this team has in themselves. Winnin’ ugly.
  17. Infield in is Will realizing he took hitters out of the game
  18. Either he’s an every day player or he’s not. Either he’s a part of this young core or he’s not. It was the wrong decision.
  19. I think a lot of the criticisms around Will are reactionary. That? That was just plain mismanaged.
  20. Get through this series and next then start competing again. We’ve been facing some really solid pitching and offenses.
