I'm a big fan of dismissing a 162 game sample in favor of just looking the last 3 games of a 5 game set, too. It's what all the cool kids are doing these days. Smoking is out, contrarianism is in.

We have one of the worst owners in the league, an inexperienced GM rebuilding the baseball operations organization,with a pitiful payroll and a roster of rookies, no-names, and has-beens. We were one game away from the ALCS, and I’m supposed to feel angry or disappointed? It took a superstar in Jose Ramirez doing superstar things to beat us, but I’m supposed to be angry? Incredibly fun season and it felt great to get back to watching the team I love. When you’re middle-aged and have many responsibilities, it’s difficult to justify watching a 100+ loss team play baseball. Call it fair weather if you want, but I did nothing more than box score watching. I watched a TON of baseball this season and loved every minute of it. Not only were these dudes competitive, but they’re a team with an identity and full of personalities….something often missing in professional sports these days. I’m looking forward to this team entering their actual competitive window (we were early this year and not ready).

Tonight has the potential to be amazing or painful. As a diehard UGA fan, Bama-Dawgs is a huge game. 30 mins after kickoff, Sox play in an elimination game. Thank god for split-screen. Not sure my heart can take it, boys.

Not a fan of skewing the statistical record books, but I do think we’d see better baseball with a 154 game schedule. Modern day baseball strategy doesn’t mesh well with team having 15+ straight games due to makeup games chewing up their few scheduled off days. I mean, look at how many position players were put on the mound around the league this season…it’s a direct result of having so few off days. Reseeding makes sense, too, and the ‘choose your own adventure’ nature of it adds a little bit of fun drama.

They’ll lose 110 anyway, ask half the clowns in this thread.
