QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 21, 2010 -> 06:34 AM) I just pictured Dayan as a Power Ranger for some reason that turned evil.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 08:24 PM) JPN, if we still have the receipt for this trade can we at least go back to KMart and get Getz back? LOL :lolhitting I don't think this is one of those trades that will come back to haunt the Sox, but, Getzy is a baseball rat and will have a long career doing the blue collar stuff that every team needs. The irony of trading Teahen for Fields is not lost on me, regarding their respective religious convictions. If Teahen can hit .270 or above hitting 7, 8 or 9, then the trade will be successful. Like I said, I wanted to spark some discussion, seems I was successful.

I find the Flowers pessimism strange considering that people are excusing Teahen because it is only Spring Training. That's a double standard, Flowers will rake in Charlotte.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 04:11 PM) Point is prospects from the Padres organization are outplaying us. True.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 04:08 PM) It just sounded good and SD being in Cali is definately close enough for me. 491 miles.

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) I know it's spring training but shouldn't we be putting some runs against a bunch of minor leaguers from the bay area? Check your geography.

I left out the choice "Teahen and Mike Sweeney begin a joint venture 'The Bash Brothers of Catholic Chastity' and tour the nation speaking to youth groups."

Cheers! Now, if you need someone to remind you what day it is over the next 6 weeks, just let's us know. Good luck.

Let's spark some discussion!

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 20, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) One thing you've got to admit about Boras though...if He's representing Viciedo...that means that Boras thinks he'll be worth representing too. Dayan has amazing raw power. Once he has it harnessed, watch out.

Anybody know who's pitching today?

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Mar 19, 2010 -> 09:20 PM) I would suspect that the game is played differently in the US than in Cuba as well. All in all there were a LOT of adjustments that he had to make in his transition to the US, and his performance in May-Sept is probably much more indicative of his abilities than his April numbers, especially considering the sample size. He's a good kid, people need to show some patience.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 01:45 PM) No, I don't think it does. It means the player is free to sign wherever since they are not on the 40-man or under current contract... but it does not rule out the Sox signing them as minor leaguers who are not on the 40. At least, I think that is how it works. True, but they were already on minor league contracts, so they could've just been reassigned to minor league camp. No point in releasing them, then resigning them to the same contract you had them on, then sending them to Charlotte. Seems like that was a final decision on their tenure with the organization. It's a shame though, Charlotte would've been the tallest team in minor league baseball.

In fact, where can I purchase that hat?

Dukes stared down my friend Matt who heckled him back when he played for Montgomery. Matt said he had never been more scared in his life and left that game early. Looks like he was proven right.
-
I saw on the MLB Network last night on their crawl a poll about Dukes. It asked what team might pick him up, and the choices were SF, NYY and the White Sox. I don't know why they chose those three teams or if there is any evidence that any of them are interested.

I was impressed by him in 2009. The Southern League is one of the toughest leagues in the minors. It washes out a lot of guys. 280, 12 and 78 is nothing to sneeze at for a 20 year old in the AA Southern League. Better plate discipline would make him an unstoppable force. That's the main thing he needs work on. If you want an example, check out the path to the majors Kendry Morales took.

New version up in the original post. Factoring in the moves made today.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) Wait, so Viciedo sports an OPS barely over .700 at AA last year and they're going to start him at AAA this year? Makes perfect sense. Based on what I saw, starting at AAA is fine. Maybe another month at AA, but no more than that, which would be pointless. So, full season of AAA ball. That kid can hit.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 01:09 PM) Any chance Botts and Cabrera wind up in Charlotte? Being released I think rules that out.
-
QUOTE (knightni @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 12:58 PM) Why send down De Aza over Nix? Nix is out of options I think.
-
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) But I'd take Dukes in a second over Juan Pierre if I needed a bodyguard. Fixed.

Here it is... Press Release
-
QUOTE (flavum @ Mar 17, 2010 -> 12:27 PM) Stefan Gartrell was sent down too. Can't seem to find the press release about Cabrera, Botts and Gartrell.
