  1. New version up in the original post.
  2. Version 1.5 will be up later tonight. I overlooked 5 players, where will Todd Gossage, Jordan Cheatham, Jesus Avila and Qualon Millender be slotted? Plus, the addition of another suspended player, Jordan Herr.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 09:48 AM) Am I the only person alive that enjoyed Crash? I just thought it was pointless. Brokeback was infinitely better.
  4. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 10:55 PM) TYVM JPN
  5. QUOTE (Ozzie Ball @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 09:02 AM) If they're in rookie ball they won't start until mid season. I think Holmberg is the more prepared of the two for Low-A, Thompson could get abused if he starts with Kannapolis. I know, but there's extended spring training, which is where they would be if they aren't assigned to Kanny or a higher level. I wouldn't be surprised at all if Thompson and Holmberg stay in Arizona until June.

QUOTE (bmags @ Feb 6, 2010 -> 11:55 AM) I would bet some stones that avatar wins best picture. The oscars like to seem hip, hence crash winning best picture. Crash blew hard. It doesn't even play on any of the movie channels ever, that's how bad it is.
  7. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Feb 28, 2010 -> 08:56 AM) And I think Remenowsky is the closer where ever he goes. Definitely a possibility. But maybe not immediately in B'ham, Santo Luis will get first crack at closing with the Barons. I don't have high hopes of that being successful.
  8. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 27, 2010 -> 11:50 PM) Good stuff, but I have a feeling Thompson and Holmberg will start in Kannapolis. They could hit Kanny by mid season, but I was giving a conservative projection for them to start 2010. Or, they may start in Kanny, then head out to Great Falls in June.
  9. Thanks to Heads for the template. This is the organizational depth chart based on where I speculate the players to be assigned to start out 2010. Bristol's roster is empty considering that it is filled with newly drafted players. I've included every player that I know of in the organization. Charlotte and Birmingham have more than the roster limit as of right now. I'll update it as things change during Spring Training. The Big Board 1.0 2/27/10 The Big Board 1.5 2/28/10 The Big Board 1.8 3/10/10 The Big Board 2.0 3/12/10 The Big Board 2.1 3/16/10 The Big Board 2.7 3/17/10 The Big Board 2.8 3/23/10 The Big Board 3.0 3/25/10 The Big Board 3.1 3/29/10 The Big Board 3.2 3/30/10 The Big Board 4.0 3/31/10 The Big Board 4.6 4/1/10
  10. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Feb 26, 2010 -> 02:34 PM) Agreed, i also think Mitchell starting at AA has a lot more to do with how much this organization values the coaching of Ever Magallanes then anything else. Ever's the quiet assassin. Or...
  11. I'm contemplating doing some kind of crude depth chart for the White Sox minor league players. It's all speculation on my part, but I think I have an idea where players will be assigned to start 2010. I think Viciedo, Danks, Shelby III, Mitchell and Marrero will all start in B'ham. If Viciedo is playing first base mostly this year, he'd be better suited to spend at least half the year in AA, that way any struggles at the plate that he could have in AAA won't negatively effect his positional transistion.
  12. I guess I'm going to be busy again this year. That's why I'll be tweeting live from Barons games if anything significant happens.
  13. It's the most wonderful time of the year.
  14. Looks like Jared Mitchell will be playing in Birmingham this year. Article "OF Jared Mitchell: This talented leadoff hitter will work alongside Pierre as a non-roster invite during Spring Training, in preparation for Mitchell to assume this top-of-the-order role in a couple of years. The 21-year-old top pick for the White Sox in the 2009 First-Year Player Draft will start 2010 for Double-A Birmingham, and could be the fastest player in the White Sox system."

"Jacksquat!" You can find it for free on iTunes, it's done by my friend and his sister. "Pharo's Pyramid" if you want to listen to a clueless, self important jackass. I use to work with that guy.
  16. QUOTE (scenario @ Feb 23, 2010 -> 05:33 PM) And Chris Carter is listed as #1 for the A's. Missed that one, thanks for correcting me Patrick.
  17. Got the Baseball America Prospect Guide in the mail today, the top 30 for the White Sox is... Jared Mitchell Tyler Flowers Daniel Hudson Brent Morel Jordan Danks Trayce Thompson Dayan Viciedo David Holmberg Clevelan Santeliz Miguel Gonzalez Josh Phegley John Ely * Sergio Santos Stefan Gartrell C.J. Retherford Carlos Torres Lucas Harrell Santos Rodriguez Eduardo Escobar Nevin Griffith Christian Marrero Jhonny Nunez Dan Remenowsky Kyle Bellamy John Shelby III Nathan Jones Charlie Leesman Jon Link * Jose Martinez Justin Collop Brandon Allen is listed as number 4 for Arizona, Aaron Poreda is number 10 and Dexter Carter is number 28 for San Diego.
  18. QUOTE (BaseballNick @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 06:34 PM) I saw Chevelle, Sick Puppies, and Janus last night at the Riviera Theater. Janus, a local product, kicked things off nicely - I think they have some real potential. I wasn't too familiar with Sick Puppies, but they sounded pretty good and did a nice job of keeping the crowd involved with the show. I'm definitely going to check out more of their music as a result of seeing them live. Chevelle was a little stale at times, but overall came through with a really nice show. I have seen them a few times and I think they do a nice job, but they pale in comparison to a band like Tool. On a side note, David Draiman of Disturbed was there checking out the show from a private balcony. Janus rocks, I love Chevelle and Tool.
  19. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 07:43 PM) Can't believe they named this guy Boner on a prime time sitcom. Beat me to it, I was going to link the story. It was the innocent 80's.
  20. This move actually leaves a surprising dearth of shortstops suited to play in Charlotte. Brent Lillibridge may be spending a lot of time in Charlotte this year. Otherwise, it's Robbie Hudson or Justin Fuller.
  21. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Feb 21, 2010 -> 12:40 PM) Freddie Bynum released. That was quick. Did he just not show up? EDIT: He's going to Japan.
  22. If you could get Blalock on a minor league deal, it's low risk, high reward. He is only 29. Maybe extra competition in spring training is a good idea.
  23. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:46 PM) Found it...kind of. Obviously old if you know the replacement, but it means he's not in baseball this year. Damn, I googled it all afternoon and couldn't find anything. He sounded burnt out during some games last year, plus suspending the home broadcasts bugged him. Talking about making the gun to the head sign with his hand and jumping out of the window and landing head first on the concrete during a rain delayed double header was a sign to me. A funny one, but a sign. He even said that he might look into working for the Barons, but Curt Bloom and his gargantuan ego won't go away anytime soon. I'm going to have to make nice with the new guy.
  24. QUOTE (danman31 @ Feb 19, 2010 -> 10:17 PM) Any idea what he's doing now? Is he working for another team or did get a different job altogether? I've be scouring the front office staffs for minor league teams, so far I haven't stumbled upon his name.
