QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:08 PM) What's his secondary stuff been looking like this year? And BTW you need a blog or something at FutureSox. It's hard to tell, I think he throws a slider or a change up. I'd definitely be happy to blog on Future Sox, that of course is up to the webmasters...hint hint

Baltimore and Atlanta scouting the ChiSox last night?

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) Like a lot of young guys though, his numbers on walks/pitches/strikes were better in the minors than in the big leagues, not just because guys are more patient (they've also gone up quite a bit this year in the minors). Some of that is him working on his stuff to try to become a sucessful starter, some of that is probably just him being a little scared to pitch to people. He started throwing a lot of off speed stuff in May and his fastball lost a little velocity. -
Kyle McCulloch is definitely out of the rotation. Matt Long has taken his place indefinitely. I know this because only the starter for the night and the starter for the next night are dressed, the other three starters sit behind home plate and chart pitches. Tonight, Justin Cassel and Charlie Shirek were dressed, and John Ely, Daniel Hudson and Matt Long were charting. Kyle McCulloch was dressed and went out to the bullpen.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:30 PM) Shirek: 7IP, 6H, 1ER, 2BB, 3K, ERA at 2.18 No walks for Santeliz today. 2IP, 3H, 0R, 0BB, 3K, ERA at 0.94, BAA .201 but still way too many BB on the season. One positive about him is that the splits say he's best with men on base and RISP. So he must at least have confidence. Get those walks down and then get to Chicago. Clevelan is effectively wild, his fastball is live, but he doesn't always know where it's going.

QUOTE (SHIPPS @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:58 PM) Once again one of my threads hi-jacked without technically being hi-jacked. I didn't intend to hijack, just trying to consolidate food topics.
-
Can we sticky this and make it the catch all thread for any food topics?

QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 03:24 PM) I actually live in Chicago again. The Yeah Yeah Yeahs? Wow, that is a band roughly equivalent to the Beastie Boys? I want to punch someone in the face. Kyyle, where do I sell these tickets and how? Does anyone on this site want tickets to a terrible day of music plus Tool? Did someone say Tool???????

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:50 PM) Meaning he will be the guy sent down for the doubleheader when Colon is recalled. Probably.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:42 PM) Sweet. I will change the thread title. He said Torres was going to be unavailable to pitch for Charlotte and that Carlos only thinks it's a one game promotion.
-
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:40 PM) Officially, or just in a "man he is going to make it to the majors" kind of way? Officially.
-
Even though it's already pretty much certain, the Knights broadcaster also said that Torres was on his way to Chicago.
-
Jeffrey Marquez is not making a start in the next few days, so he may be headed to the DL. Whisler pitches tomorrow, Egbert Thursday, then ? possibly Kelvin Jimenez Friday, no mention of Marquez as a possibility according to Knights broadcaster.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:23 PM) Is it not odd to see the Braves shipping their prospects all over the league like they are? Josh Anderson, Tyler Flowers, Brent Lillibridge, Gorkys Hernandez, Charlie Morton, Jeff Locke.....it seems like they are totally cleaning house this year. More reason to try and get Cody Johnson! -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:19 PM) It's surprising that Flowers has been benched as often as he has been up there so far. Don't like that. Day game after a night game thing.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:16 PM) Borchard has made me extremely wary of sick power and lots of K's. Granted they are not the same player, i understand that, I just dont like to see that high of a percentage of K's in any player. I understand, but the Braves promoted Freddie Freeman and Jason Heyward over Johnson, and they are both a year younger, so he could definitely be had. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:09 PM) wow, he has struck out 113 times in 310 AB? Sounds like he is the equivalent of Lillibridge He's only 20 and has sick power, I'd take him. -

QUOTE (GreatScott82 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) What would it take to aqcuire this Cody Johnson? A reliever perhaps? Maybe Atlanta is interested in Linebrink? And if Baltamore is interested in Fields, seriously they could have the guy. Just give us a Single-A prospect and were good. Cody Johnson stats Take a look and speculate. -

If there is any deal with the Braves, the White Sox NEED to acquire Cody Johnson, he's the outfield equivalent of Tyler Flowers. -

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 12:10 PM) Poreda's headed back to Charlotte. Then someone's getting released or DL'd in Charlotte.
-
QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 11:40 AM) W-S and Kanny may need pitchers, but Kanny has a bunch of guys ready for promotion, so I don't think you need to go get anyone from outside the org. I know, just speculating and that was the least likely thing in my opinion.
-
From the minor league perspective, Charlotte's roster has 1 too many active players. So, if Torres goes up and someone goes down, there has to be corresponding moves made. Someone like Jeffrey Marquez could go on the DL, maybe someone is released, a limited player like Daryle Ward. Considering that Charlotte now has 6 outfielders (Anderson, Cook, Hopper, Kroeger, Negron & Restovich), there's a possible release candidate. I wouldn't rule out a trade of a major league reliever for a few low level minor leaguers, Kanny and W-S have open roster space and could use pitchers.

John Ely's music is "Chelsea Dagger" by The Fratellis. Daniel Hudson's music is "Figure .09" by Linkin Park according to his Future Sox interview.
