ESPN has basically become an NBA/NFL network, even in July.

QUOTE (knightni @ Jul 24, 2009 -> 11:22 AM) I like First Take, NFL Live, Around The Horn (sans Hineybird), and PTI sometimes; but unless there's nothing on mlb network, I really don't watch them very much. I will not pay for NFL Network. Jay Crawford doesn't know how to pronounce Theriot, he says Thoreau.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 10:38 PM) This has nothing to do with his prospect status, it all has to do with the fact that he got screwed out of his chance to participate in the Southern League All Star festivities. That's what makes me mad. Getting promoted at the worst possible time was bad enough, the demotion just two weeks later only exacerbates it. I'm going to say this again, the above quote is the point I was trying to make.

Minor League Catch-All thread 2009 edition

By the way, they sent Carlos Torres to Great Falls for some reason. -
Fernando Hernandez intro music is "Defend Dade" by DJ Khaled & Pitbull.

QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 11:13 PM) I get tired of prospect and non-prospect debates. Obviously some guys are better prospects than others. Some guys aren't really prospects at all. But every guy on each minor league affiliate are "our guys". Because some guy isn't a "prospect" we shouldn't give a flyin' f**k about 'em? Agreed, I'll point it out when I see a player getting a raw deal.

QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 11:02 PM) So wait, nobody is supposed to care about Cook? He'll never be on an MLB roster? Okay, well I could down the list of Charlotte's roster and come up with a bunch of names I don't give a f*** about who will likely never get a shot in the bigs. The man was long due a promotion, so just let him have it. I highly doubt Miguel Negron or Michael Restovich are in our plans, and probably not Hopper either. BA is done in this organization and will likely be non-tendered after the year should nobody else want him as a backup. He deserved the promotion, and should have stayed in Charlotte. I was mad that he got robbed of an All Star appearance.

He seemed in good spirits when I talked to him tonight. I told him he was missed during the All Star events and that he would have no doubt won the home run derby. If he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder about it, I'll let it go. I don't mind getting to see him play, but I know he deserves a better chance.

QUOTE (CSF @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) B-ham wins 1-0 in the bottom of the 9th on a walkoff single by Gartrell. Ely with 7 strong innings, 3 hits, 2 BB, 6 K's. Mabee with 2 shutout innings for the win. The key to the walk off victory tonight was David Cook sparking the rally. He hit a single with one out, which was followed by a single by Viciedo. The key was Cook was heads up and hustled to third on Dayan's hit.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:27 PM) I stand corrected. This move looks even worse in this light. No one's saying David Cook is a great player, he isn't however, an AA one With Torres going back to Charlotte, that gives them 27 active players. They can only have 24.
-
QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Jul 23, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) That's a b**** move. What does Cook have left to do in AA? Charlotte is awful, just let him play. Seriously, this is BA's fault. It has nothing to do with Anderson, they moved Matt Zaleski up to Charlotte in his place.
-
He was sent back to B'ham today. Gone long enough to miss the SL all star game and home run derby.
-
I think the familiarity with Lucy helped Cassel tonight.
-
He's a real nice guy too.

QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Jul 21, 2009 -> 10:01 PM) Too bad. I thought Pitch was a one time deal for them, but they're playing a few shows in Cali too. What can you tell me about this? David Yow cannot be in one piece still. HOLY CRAP, THEY'RE ON TOUR AND COMING TO LA AND SD!!! Who would win in a fight between David Yow and God? Trick question...David Yow is God.

Daniel Hudson for Geoff Blum?

If you see it anywhere else in the vastness of the world wide web, that's me.

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 04:20 PM) Wait, don't you already? Or are you talking like a separate thing, which we could set-up, where your stories and latest stuff is on the left side or something. If you guys want me to do something official, then I'll do it.

QUOTE (chisoxfan09 @ Jul 22, 2009 -> 01:32 AM) Just took a look (Someone mentioned he was out and he was for all of 2007 so it must have been Tommy John surgery). His control is pretty shaky even from Rookie ball. His K/BB rate is pretty bad. Dunno if he is MLB material with those stats. We have enough pitchers on the staff with control problems. ** JPN ** Did he have control problems or wildness at BHam? Not wildness or control issues, he tends to nibble way too, too much. He doesn't attack hitters enough. When he does, you get results like today and June 6th.

Donny Lucy...not happy to be back in AA. He didn't say as much, but I could sense it. And, Dayan Viciedo hit a ball so hard tonight, his double that went to left center, that I was startled. He hit the hell out of it, and his bat speed on that hit was off the charts.
