  1. Regardless of everything, the Barons winning or losing the Southern League championship won't hinge on Kyle McCulloch. He's probably the 4th option as a starter in the playoffs behind Matt Long, Charlie Shirek and John Ely. They've kept Long's innings down while he's been in B'ham, only recently has he moved into the rotation. So, his arm is fresh.
  2. The new edition of JPNese is in, I'll continue to take requests here for next week's blog.
  3. QUOTE (chunk23 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 11:32 PM) I think he means he can't confirm because he isn't certain of what team they scout for. Yeah, that's what I meant. I just saw scouts watching McCulloch and taking notes. Aside from the charting and gun readings done by the other starting pitchers in the stands.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 09:24 PM) Why would any other team than the Blue Jays be watching him? They're trying to get the most out of the Rios deal by looking at our crappy mid-level prospects. Because I can't confirm from which team, so that's why I said that.
  5. I wanted to make sure everybody saw this, I don't know from which team though.

    QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 07:12 PM) Quick, send his last 2 stat lines to J.P. Riccardi! You jest, but there were scouts watching Kyle pitch tonight. From which team I don't know.

    QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 02:07 PM) Hudson so far: 3 innings, 4 hits 2 runs, 1 BB, 2 K Can't fault him for being a little nervous.

    QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 01:06 PM) Listening to the game. Lillibridge got hit in the face on a pickoff attempt. It's working now.

    Of course, the f***ing live stream isn't working.

    QUOTE (flavum @ Aug 9, 2009 -> 10:20 AM) Hudson is starting today. Today..Indianapolis. Friday...Oakland? Game's on MiLB.tv everybody.
  11. ...tomorrow (8/9) against Indianapolis. The game is going to be on MiLB.tv at 1PM Central time. If you haven't gotten MiLB.tv yet, now is the time.

    QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 08:45 PM) Thanks to JPN, FutureSox was 2 days ahead of milb.com.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Aug 8, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) Look out for Jose Vargas (1b), Kevin Dubler ©, Nicholas Ciolli (Of), Kyle Colligan (CF), Ryan Buch(p), and Justin Collop (p). Also, the hitting coach is former MLB pinch-hitter Olmedo Saenz Nope, former Barons catcher Eric Hollis is the batting coach. Their announcer told me Olmedo Saenz is not a coach with the team at all.
  14. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 09:37 PM) 2 words. Kyle McCullough. McCulloch.
  15. Adam Ricks was moved up to Charlotte, so that alleviates the question of platooning Armstrong and Flowers. One can catch, the other can DH, and you're not in trouble if the one catching gets hurt with Ricks.
  16. Being a minor league guy, I usually don't like to see the prospects traded. But, even with the exorbitant cost, I'd say make a deal with Toronto for Rios. Of course, that's assuming the White Sox claimed him.
  17. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 05:04 PM) Wishful thinking IMO. Just like the Peavy deal and Pods performing at a very high level, I'll believe it when I see it. Maybe the Sox can come to a compromise and let Wise go but hang a few Kim Jong Il-style banners up around the park so we never forget he's watching us. Fields got demoted even though he hit a grand slam in the perfect game. Just send Wise down if they get Rios.
  18. How about Wise for Rios? Now I'd stand up and applaud that.
  19. QUOTE (Kenny Hates Prospects @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) If the Sox get Rios then Kotsay is probably on the way out. Wise goes nowhere. And watch Wise start in CF over Rios, too. Oy vey!
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 04:49 PM) ESPN speculation is around San Francisco and the Mets, Sox aren't mentioned. ESPN is aware that there are teams outside the Eastern time zone???
  21. Acquiring Rios wouldn't necessarily mean the end of Wise's stay I'd imagine.
  22. QUOTE (Fedor @ Aug 7, 2009 -> 03:05 PM) Why can't David Cook be our Jake Fox? I know!
  23. Chuck-A-Rama??
