QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 09:21 AM) As soon as we DON'T have to worry about Brady Shoemaker being left unprotected, that might be a sign of progress for our system. Remember all the hub-bub about Doyle and Kuhn? I still wonder how bad the Marlins' system must have been that Ozzie Martinez and J'han Marinez where middle of the Top 10 picks at one point. Doubt he'll even come close to Maurice Gartrell/David Cook level, let alone Aaron Cunningham or even Ryan Sweeney. Doyle's pitching good so far and adjusting to AAA well. Kuhn has been scuffling lately. What's your point about them?

I always thought "Space Cowboy" should be his walk up music.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 25, 2012 -> 10:49 AM) Position: OF Full Name: Maurice Stefan Gartrell Born: January 14, 1984 San Francisco,California Height: 6-2 Weight: 220 High School: Sacred Heart Prep (San Francisco,CA) College: University of San Francisco Drafted - Selected by Sox in 31st Round (945th overall) of 2006 draft He always went by Stefan, even back in his first year in the system, 2006.
  5. QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 07:33 PM) http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...biraax_monaax_1 Mitchell with yet another walk, currently at .347. Jose Martinez two-run RBI single. Charlotte's game at Syracuse was postponed. Due to cold weather.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 27, 2012 -> 07:40 AM) There's no good news when a guy gets caught juicing, because now who knows how much of his performance was from the juice. He might come back and you don't want him back. Just trying to offer a silver lining. He's missing development time though, and you right about wondering how long he's been doing it.
  7. Conor Jackson has played 4 straight games at third base. As far as I know, he never did before. Carlos Sanchez has missed the last two games.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 26, 2012 -> 08:07 AM) I think that is the whole point. Everyone is higher on average. What I'm saying is that average age of the current Barons roster is 26 1/2 years old.
  9. I'm sure the Dodgers and Reds wished they hadn't given up on Paul Konerko so quickly.
  10. The good news, he'll only miss around 10 or 11 starts and he'll be eligible for reinstatement just after the beginning of the second half.
  11. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 11:02 PM) I know, exactly. The median age is 24. This isn't something they made up or suggested. They figured it out. The average age would be higher with older players skewing the numbers, something they also mentioned. The Barons are definitely higher on average.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 08:26 PM) Mitchell with yet another walk. Saladino finally back up over .200 (let's hope Morel and Beckham can follow soon). Leesman pitching quite well tonight. Brian Omogrosso, not so much. Might not be long with the White Sox at this rate. Seems the injuries really set him back and he's never gotten his stuff or his control back to 100% like he was 2-3 years ago. Omogrosso's had injury issues since 2008. To his credit, he told me last year that if there's a freak injury, it'll happen to him.

Apparently Damaso Espino is a nutjob. He has the area around his locker taped off and no one is allowed inside of the area. Plus, after opening night, he forbade his wife from working as a waitress at the stadium because too many men were gawking at her.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 09:43 PM) That would be average age. It said the median age for AA is 24, that's way off. The average AA player is 25-26.
  15. Gregory Infante's off the DL and Wes Whisler was released.
  16. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 24, 2012 -> 03:54 PM) Median ages for the different levels of the minors. http://www.baseballamerica.com/blog/prospe...n-minor-league/ I'd add a year or so to the AA level.

QUOTE (OilCan @ Apr 23, 2012 -> 08:27 PM) KW Jr is blocking his path. (waiting for JPN in 5...4...3......) Shoemaker's getting shafted by KW Jr. and Martinez, Gilmore and Greene are losing at bats to him. That is kinda f***ed. Nobody's blocking Rienzo.

    Quintana is from Colombia.
  19. FWIW, Conor Jackson is being played at RF, LF, 1B, 3B and DH in Charlotte.

Bit of a crafty lefty from what I saw. Worked between 91-80, nothing slower, nothing faster.
  21. QUOTE (RME JICO @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 08:22 PM) The Humper PH Balance PH2 Oops, you said PH Balance first, my bad.
  22. Humber Humber PH Balance
  23. The ump wasn't going to f*** that one up.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 21, 2012 -> 05:22 PM) Everyone including me Yelling at Rios not to screw up. Two hands!
  25. Is Fox really doing a split screen??? It's 9-1 Boston, c'mon!
