  1. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 04:03 PM) That's what they call a billboard in broadcast television lingo.
  2. That's three games in a row that the Dash starter only went 4 innings. That has to be on purpose.
  3. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 10, 2011 -> 09:14 AM) Serious question here... If he were not Kenny's son, would his tools merit interest ala Thompson and Mitchell? Reading the descriptions about him, Williams sounds like his upside, and the upside of Mitchell are about the same. Is that true? If not, who is a good comp for Williams if he hits his potential? Tyler Kuhn pinch ran for him last night, so I doubt his speed or defense is comparable to Mitchell.

  5. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 12:40 PM) I agree with everything that has been said about KW JR, but ironically, he did have a good hitting game last night. http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/break...9,0,65498.story Haters gonna hate. If he performs, then fine. If he sucks and keeps playing and leading off, then he's gonna hear about it from me.
  6. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Apr 9, 2011 -> 12:35 PM) I agee it's an embarassment. He shouldn't be in AA or a leadoff hitter, but that team isn't exactly overflowing with talent this year. We shouldn't hold it against the kid that nepotism played a role in his early selection and most likely his minor league advancement. He is what he is, a very fringe prospect. Having said that, I'd rather give him a chance than some 30 year career minor leaguer. As I said earlier, he has some physical tools. It's not like we're talking about Josh Shafer here. That's a four letter word in Birmingham.
  7. QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 12:34 PM) Jake gets to pitch in his home state. Nice. But not in Birmingham, unfortunately for me.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 10:56 AM) Birmingham @ Montgomery, 7:05pm CT, starters TBA Peavy.
  9. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 06:07 AM) And you have got to be kidding me with Kenny Williams Jr not only starting, but leading off, for B-Ham. Is Greene hurt? Imagine having paid to see this for the next five months. Greene's active, he's just this year's victim of the KW Jr. stain.
  10. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) Kenny Williams Jr leading off for Birmingham. I think that's all you need to know about the Sox minor league system. ...while Justin Greene and his ungodly bat speed ride the bench.
  11. QUOTE (flavum @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 08:07 PM) Kenny Williams Jr leading off for Birmingham. I think that's all you need to know about the Sox minor league system. I just picked up my tickets today...
  12. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 10:15 PM) Ken Williams Jr. led off ha. So...of all the players on that team, that's the one they want getting the most at bats.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 07:26 AM) LOL, there are at least three players' names misspelled on that list. That's not the weirdest thing though, check this link out and look at Kenny Williams Jr.'s number. There is no #6 jersey, but he's both #5 and #6.
  14. Typical...it's an hour and a half before they play their first game and Charlotte's roster hasn't been set yet on MiLB.com.
  15. Barons roster up, but not totally accurate. Matt Long is still released and Dan Remenowsky is not in Charlotte. Henry Mabee is on the DL, Justin Greene is active. Still no info in Jon Gilmore's status.
  16. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Apr 6, 2011 -> 12:15 PM) Also, the Birmingham roster is absolutely dreadful from a prospect standpoint. Yuck. Imagine having season tickets and knowing that KW Jr. could possibly get 500 at bats.
  17. QUOTE (danman31 @ Apr 5, 2011 -> 05:48 PM) Kanny roster is online. Updated.
  18. One of my unamed sources told me that Justin Greene is with the Barons, I'm guessing he's hurt and starting the year on the DL. They were not sure about Jon Gilmore.
  19. One of my unamed sources told me that Justin Greene is with the Barons, I'm guessing he's hurt and starting the year on the DL. They were not sure about Jon Gilmore.
  20. C.J. Retherford signed with the Braves and will play for their AA affiliate...in the Southern League. The same league as the Barons.
