It's no surprise that he was claimed. He wasn't going to clear waivers.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 12, 2011 -> 11:30 AM) The fact remains that he's the only true impact bat we have in the minors and we're not going to be adding to the payroll, so it will have to be Viciedo or Danks. I suppose in a very worst-case scenario they could try McPherson, but that's about as likely as them giving a starting job to Michael Restovich, Maurice Gartrell, David Cook or that LH 1B we picked up from the D-Backs who was like a poor man's Ross Gload without a position. Who? Do you mean Josh Kroeger?

Call him up and fire Ozzie.

Who's the guy coaching first? -
QUOTE (oldsox @ May 11, 2011 -> 10:26 PM) He ain't heavy, he's my son. So, it's your fault!
-
QUOTE (danman31 @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:07 PM) He joins Winston-Salem, Kyle Shelton gets moved to AA. Kyle Davis was released. Hopefully Saladino can be a bright spot after breaking his hand in spring training. No corresponding roster move for Birmingham yet to make room for Shelton.

I want the prospects to do well, as well as the Barons. But, David Cook is practically an old friend, so I wanted to see him have a good game. He's had three good games this week in Birmingham.

QUOTE (OilCan @ May 11, 2011 -> 06:15 PM) And yet, supposedly, he supplies ENERGY TO THE LEADOFF SPOT. Slow and hitting .213, nope.
-
QUOTE (scenario @ May 11, 2011 -> 06:12 PM) So, you will cheer him when he leaves town and comes back to visit then, right? No, once he's out of the White Sox system, he's out of baseball.
-
QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:52 PM) You asked an opposing player to hit a HR? Why? You like watching the Barons lose? Yes, I asked him personally. We shook hands and I asked him how the Reds and Astros organizations treated him. He said the Reds treat him good, but the Astros didn't though. I told him he knows what Matt Zaleski throws since they were teammates for so long and that I haven't gotten to see him hit a bomb in two years. He spent parts of three years with the Barons, everybody here loves him, he's like family. I got up and cheered when he hit the homerun. I cheered for him every at bat. I'll cheer on any former Baron who comes back to town. I having a hard time not booing KW Jr.
-
I asked David Cook to hit a homerun to left field, he hit a homerun to left field in his third at bat today.

Tyler Saladino's has joined the Dash active roster.
-
Kenny Williams Jr. is literally the slowest runner on the Barons roster. He runs like he has a piano strapped to his back.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ May 11, 2011 -> 03:02 AM) Also, WTF Drew Lee? Who the hell is he for hitting .431 this year? Him and Blanke need to be promoted, the catchers, third basemen and short stops for Winston-Salem are doing awful.
-
Just preparing you guys for when he breaks camp with White Sox in 2013 as an everyday player, possibly as the clean up hitter. Because that is the pace he's on.
-
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ May 9, 2011 -> 12:51 PM) I'll shall b***h about it as much as I want, I paid to see it.
-
KW Jr. has 17 K's in 48 at bats. He's leading off for the Barons because he's that energy guy that gets the offense going. Bobby Magallanes must've thrown up after he said that.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) He was b****ing about Humber just taking the few starts Peavy was going to miss. It turns out during that time he was the Sox best pitcher. Even if Humber has a 25.00 ERA the rest of the year, he was wrong. Humber might also be benefitting from no expectations. That can lead to success sometimes.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 12:48 PM) Actually, Beckham has struggled, succeeded, struggled, succeeded, struggled. Its really amazing how many people have given up on him. You will all be eating crow. Never said I was giving up on him, he's way too young to write off. It's better to struggle at 24 than 28-29. I'm just saying that I doubt any other organization would have drafted Beckham if Smoak was still on the board.

QUOTE (oldsox @ May 7, 2011 -> 12:43 PM) Anybody know what happened ot former SoxTalk poster Rex Hudler? I'm curious too, he lives near me.
-
QUOTE (GoodAsGould @ May 7, 2011 -> 01:27 AM) He suggesting sending Beckham down to minors and Escobar in majors at 2B. Oh, I thought he meant Beckham would play SS in Charlotte.
-
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 7, 2011 -> 07:07 AM) Did you remind people when Smoak was a strikeout machine getting sent back to the minors? I believe in Beckham. There will be a lot of people eating their words in a month or so. I'd prefer the player who struggled at first, then succeeded. Beckham has so far succeeded at first, then has struggled since 2009. With streaks here an there.
-
Is this a bad time to remind people that I thought Justin Smoak would've been a better draft choice than Beckham?
-
Kuhn has good speed. He stole 26 bases in 2009. He would've stole more in 2010 had Ever Magallanes been more aggressive with runners on base. He already has 6 steals this year. I'm sure he Tweets less and doesn't play as much Halo as Lillibridge. Retherford is a bad comparison also, his only tool was solid contact. I doubt Kuhn would wilt in the limelight like Retherford did.

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ May 6, 2011 -> 07:42 PM) I was just thinking it wouldn't hurt to convert Escobar to 2B and send Beckham down if he's still not hitting in two weeks. Huh? Why would Escobar need to move to second base to make room for Beckham?
