  1. Devon White works for the White Sox organization as a minor league base running instructor.
  2. QUOTE (LayelBurton @ Jun 8, 2011 -> 04:07 AM) Ricks hasn't necessarily been "chillin'" at all. Ricks had been directly assigned as the catcher for rehabbing Wes Whisler. As Whisler is becoming a left-handed specialist, Rick has been there to catch Whisler's bullpen sessions. Adam has spend many days in Kannapolis as well. I have seen him instruct Mike Blanke, coach 1st base & catch warm-ups between innings. Yeah, he's basically a player coach now. More coach than player. I don't understand why the White Sox don't just officially hire him as a coach.
  3. Trevor Bauer throws 9 different pitches.
  4. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 10:16 AM) He should still know better than that. You learn how to play baseball the right way when you start playing highly competitive baseball, which he has since 10 years old probably. Obviously he still needs work in that area.
  5. I'm sure he'll get a nice talking to by either his manager, teammates, or The Nats GM. That's a nice dirty sanchez mustache he's sporting.
  6. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 7, 2011 -> 10:12 AM) Acted immature. Watched his home run leave the park like he hasn't hit one in his entire life. And blew the kiss at the end. If he did that in the majors, he would have a nice bruise on his back the next day. He is still only 18.
  7. You're Charlotte Knights struck out a combined 18 times. Flowers had 4 K's. The Iron Pigs struck out 13 times for what it's worth.
  8. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) So does Norris have signability issues? Who are you guys looking at for the Sox pick? 2 away now.... None at all, I'll take the league minimum...oh...nevermind.
  9. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 10:35 PM) That kid is such an idiot. He only played baseball at UIC because of his name, and only got the chance to have a .376 minor league OPS because of his name. His baseball ability is about the same as a few people on this board, and that ain't a lie. At least he had the decency to retire instead of taking more playing time away from better players. I'm looking at you, KW Jr.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 6, 2011 -> 11:06 AM) JPN will love this. Meh. If he's projected in the first 10 rounds, then it won't bother me.
  11. QUOTE (scenario @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 11:20 PM) Lindsay needs a nickname. Stats like that practically scream out for a great nickname. Half in half?
  12. QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 08:19 PM) KW2 continues to be the absolute joke of the entire farm system. That guy should be in Single A. Low A ball, not high A. Kuhn, Marrero, Axelrod and Leesman should be promoted to AAA very soon. Leesman has what amounts to a full season in Birmingham from last to this year. Axelrod's K/IP ratio, not to mention his other peripherals, have been excellent. Kuhn and Marrero, well, nuff said. Oops, forgot about Remenowsky. Him too. Loman, Short, Phegley, Omogrosso and Edwards shouldn't be too far behind. You mean you're not impressed by The Busboy tacking on that 13th run with his first hit of the game and the team's 22nd hit in the top of the 9th in a 8 run game? That's clutch. It's so much worse in person, trust me. Axelrod is on the DL, missing two turns in the rotation so far, so he's not going anywhere.
  13. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 06:06 PM) The guy had three home runs and 47 doubles in his first 733 minor league at bats. his slugging percentage the last two seasons has been sub .400. pretty slappy to me. he already has nearly as many doubles this season (15) as he did last season (17) in about half the at bats. He's nothing like a slap hitter at all. We're not talking about a David Eckstein type here. Think more Ryan Theriot or Maicer Izturis. He's played in all but one game this year, he didn't play everyday last year until the second half. He thrived in the leadoff spot at the end of 2010 and is doing even better this year. He's a prototype leadoff contact hitter.
  14. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 05:16 PM) Kuhn has really had a breakout season. he looked like a slap hitter who barely projected as a utility infielder prior to this season. Still need to see more. But he's playing like a guy who'll be a legit utility player -- or second baseman. leading the southern league in hitting after today. He never seemed like a slap hitter.
  15. Two games in a row that the Barons had double digit runs and 20 hits, third game in a row with double digit runs.
  16. QUOTE (flavum @ Jun 5, 2011 -> 03:46 PM) Kuhn gets on base 4 more times. Move him up. 5 times now. Game's not over yet.
  17. QUOTE (Pale Sox @ Jun 4, 2011 -> 01:11 AM) You would know better than I would with Marrero...but Adam Lind seems overly optimistic, at least statistically. Lind is a guy I actually know fairly well from my time with the Jays. Even if it was a flukey year in 2009, it wasn't totally outrageous. I can't ever imagine Marrero being among the best hitters in the game in any given season. He just doesn't strike me as having that kind of offensive upside. On the plus side, he seems considerably more athletic than Lind, who is ideally a DH. It's hard to pinpoint a comparison for Marrero, he is more athletic than Lind. Lind fits also because they both have similar builds, height and weight, and they're both 1B, LF or RF. Not really set at one spot.
  18. Gallagher is the Ross Gload type, and he can play the corner outfield spots as well. Marrero is more like Adam Lind with a tad less power, but better contact.
  19. For what's it worth, Blanke has more hits than Bour and Sierra combined.
  20. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 02:24 PM) Good - the catching situation in W-S was a giant black hole anyway, a couple filler guys hitting .200 or worse. Now, who catches at Kanny? Do they give Dubler full time play? Not likely. Gonzalez maybe? Or demote Bour to Kanny? They had an open roster spot in W-S. Sierra can play other positions. Whoever has to leave Charlotte when Teahen goes up and one of the pitchers in Chicago goes down, they can go to B'ham. B'ham has one open roster spot currently. Axelrod is on the DL. Maybe Blackwood or Gonzalez goes to Kanny. Kanny has two open roster spots.
  21. Michael Blanke has been promoted to Winston-Salem.
  22. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 09:21 AM) But the Charger is 1 million times cooler than the Mustang. Thanks for trying to make me feel better, Steve. You guys can be the judge... Mustang Charger
  23. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Jun 3, 2011 -> 01:19 AM) I feel that there's a deeper meaning to this. No, my son means the world to me. Just warning you guys that you just can't keep your sports car when you have kids.
