QUOTE (bighurt4life @ May 22, 2011 -> 10:36 PM) Is he really that slow, I was operating under the presumption that he was a "special athlete" as we've been told about him and that's why he was playing, hoping that everything would click for him at some point. If he really isn't anything special in the athlete column then it's time to kick him to the curb or at least bottom of the lineup. Yes, even stocky, 29 year old back up catcher Jared Price is faster. Josh Phegley is faster, 6'5" Seth Loman is faster. C.J. Retherford and his club foot are faster. KW Jr. is an athlete, yes, but just that, nothing special. He literally runs like he has a piano strapped to his back. Words cannot express how truly awful he is, and that's an honest assessment. I was willing to be proven wrong about him, but it's worse than I imagined. He literally has no business playing at the AA level. I don't think he would be in affiliated ball if he wasn't in this organization. I'd be hard pressed to envision a Frontier League team picking him up, let alone another affiliated team. He's vying right now for a spot in the top 5 worst players in Barons history along with Josh Shafer, Jason Dallaero, Robert Valido and Michael Jordan. Jordan at least hit .203, I still expect KW Jr. to hit .190 for the season. He has a very awkward stride, a very stiff upper body and he doesn't seem like he can stand up totally straight, like he has some kind of lower spinal curvature. Now the jokes... 1. If you told me he was a swimmer, I wouldn't be surprised. He's treading f***ing water. 2. If he's supposed to be a table setter, then why is the table covered in s**t?

QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ May 22, 2011 -> 10:54 PM) OK, I had it reversed then. Birmingham´s stadium must be the difficult park to hit in. JPN is that correct? Yep. 340 down the lines, 405 to center and about 375-380 to the gaps. Wind almost never blows out, mostly swirls.

QUOTE (SpainSOXfan09 @ May 22, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) Rowand, was it you or one of the other mods who said that DV has excellent bat speed? Ungodly.

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 22, 2011 -> 05:44 PM) Give him a break, he just came off the DL. Maybe he's still hurt. His assignment to the Dash was basically rehab anyway. I hope that's why he's struggling. Don't get me wrong, I like Wes, he's a good guy.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 22, 2011 -> 04:55 PM) KWJR- I know he's Kenny's kid and everything, but how can they justify leading off this .190 hitter at AA? Give me a break. If anything, shouldn't Kuhn be in that spot to get on base, steal some bags, stuff like that? Whatever. That's what I've been saying all along. Jr. is the slowest runner on the team as well. It's fine if he plays, but he should be batting 8th or 9th. He'll be in Charlotte next year batting 3rd and hitting .150. Then he'll be the White Sox clean up hitter in 2013 batting .095. It's truly insane. Even in developmental baseball, you can't let nepotism have that much of an effect. No other minor league team in baseball trots out a .190 hitter in the leadoff spot everyday like this. It's a joke, plain and simple. I think as a Barons season ticket holder, I should get $100 back since I have to watch him play. I hope KW doesn't come down for a Barons game, because I'll give him a piece of my mind.

How long before Wes Whisler gets the ax? If he can't get guys out in A ball, then he surely can't handle AAA. A 28 year old pitcher in High A with a 67.00 ERA is not good.

I would have to imagine that Dexter Carter would be headed to Kannapolis with there being two open roster spots. They lost two pitchers to promotions.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 22, 2011 -> 12:57 PM) What is going on with Gilmore? I know he got hit on the hand that he hurt in ST in his second game back and that's why he's been on the DL.
-
After being activated from the DL Friday, Jon Gilmore has been placed back om the DL. Hector Santiago gets a much deserved promotion to Birmingham. J.R. Ballinger moves up to Winston-Salem. Kannapolis has two open roster spots.
-
Ryan Buch moves up to Winston-Salem.

QUOTE (NHDadUmp-RI @ May 21, 2011 -> 10:22 AM) Remember you said that... I can't promise he'll start Rickwood, if there is a postponment that shuffles the rotation, I can't control that. But, as of right now, he'd be the one. Even if I had to miss the game, I would make sure you got to go if you came to Birmingham. I have two tickets already, I doubt I'll use both. I'm off that day from work, but my wife isn't.
-
Terry Doyle is still in line to start the Rickwood game, Mr. John Doyle. You should come down to see him pitch, I think I can get you a ticket.
-
Drew Garcia has responded well to his promotion to Charlotte.

1. Someone complained?! 2. It's a real disease with doctors and medicine and all that.

Lisa Edelstein's butt is the best show on TV, too bad she's leaving "House."
-
Jon Gilmore is active again.

QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 20, 2011 -> 02:49 PM) That would be when Matt Zaleski would have been scheduled to go, I'm assuming that Nevin Griffith is being bumped from the rotation since he's been shelled so much. Leesman, Axlerod, Doyle, Zaleski, Edwards will probably be the new rotation, in that order. Hey, if I'm right, Terry will be starting the Rickwood game. That's if he's third in the rotation. Just trying to be respectful. Nevermind, Zaleski was promoted to Charlotte, Brandon Hynick was traded to the Reds.

QUOTE (NHDadUmp-RI @ May 20, 2011 -> 12:54 PM) Saturday, first start! Told it was a "spot start", but maybe... Flying to Jax, car-less don't you know. Need a good start T! (BTFW, Mr Doyle's my fathers name. "John" works fine for me.) That would be when Matt Zaleski would have been scheduled to go, I'm assuming that Nevin Griffith is being bumped from the rotation since he's been shelled so much. Leesman, Axlerod, Doyle, Zaleski, Edwards will probably be the new rotation, in that order. Hey, if I'm right, Terry will be starting the Rickwood game. That's if he's third in the rotation. Just trying to be respectful.

Mr. Doyle, your son's been promoted to B'ham. Although I'm sure you already know. They're on a ten game road trip right now, hope he enjoys his drive to Jacksonville. I'm assuming he'll take Nevin Griffith's spot in the rotation.

QUOTE (bighurt4life @ May 20, 2011 -> 01:03 AM) makes sense, J ville probably has a retard 3B coach too. It's whomever the manager is.
-
QUOTE (bighurt4life @ May 19, 2011 -> 10:53 PM) Justin Greene gunned down three separate runners at home. Has anyone seen him throw, does he have a cannon or did he just get lucky tonight? Just above average. And, in typical Jacksonville fashion, they feature a lot of old retreads who are probably slow.
-
QUOTE (flavum @ May 19, 2011 -> 10:43 PM) 4 hits for Kuhn. He's leading the Southern League in hitting. .366 Needs to be promoted. He's a hell of a guy too, great character.
-
QUOTE (danman31 @ May 19, 2011 -> 09:09 PM) Griffith rocked again He's blind as a bat. He wears glasses when he's in the stands charting, so I assume he wears contacts when pitching. Maybe Nevin needs rec specs.

QUOTE (Cerbaho-WG @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:32 PM) Having over 25% of a season's ABs isn't sample size bias. Also, I don't understand how being 24 in your second season of AA is bad. Perhaps you can enlighten us. It looks like Kuhn's success can be tied to him cutting down on strikeouts and putting the ball in play more. Obviously one can argue that part of his success is that he's getting luckier, which would be true, but he's showing a lot of progress at AA. He most likely projects as a utility infielder with a good bat, little pop. It's not luck. The more he plays, the more he hits. He really should be leading off for the Barons. If 24 is too old for AA, then take a look at the rosters for all of the AA teams.

QUOTE (danman31 @ May 18, 2011 -> 10:47 PM) He's a solid pitcher for the high minors. What about Axelrod? Have you seen him this year? He's got good control from the numbers. Long term, he'll be a solid AAA pitcher, maybe could be an emergency starter in the majors. He seems to succeed on movement, deception and ball placement. As well as being underestimated.
