  1. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 06:35 PM) Personally I rank Shelby ahead of all of them. He is the #1 prospect in the organization in my opinion. This isn't what a generic scout would say and honestly if I were to truly rate a top 5 it would be Fields/Poreda/Broadway/Shelby/Richar and that says something (cause that is one truly s***ty top 5). Egbert based on his last night's start would knock Richar out of the list (but I'd like to see him further prove he's now 100%). The system is barren and I did that list very quickly and may very well be missing some people. Poreda is the only guy with super-star potential in the system and if I were going to peg a second guy it would be Shelby (the guy is a pure hitter with good power and athletism (but me calling him a super-star prospect is just me getting depserate because our system is that freaking bad). Broadway has a good chance of being a rock solid middle of the rotation starter (Radke type of guy). Egbert is a sinkerballer I absolutely love. Hitting wise, Fields has massive power, but very little of anything else that excites me (this is my personal belief and I also believe the Sox should trade him for a much more all around prospect to a team that is looking for an upgrade at 3B (since Fields is technically ML ready; Slugging like he did last year makes him just that). Cook is not a prospect (just want to point that out). Getz is a solid guy, but odds are he turns into a back-up infielder (if everything went well, Mark Grudzelanek type of guy). Other guys of note for me offensively: Stephan Gartrell (I liked the guy since he was picked out of San Fran or whever the hell it was in Nor Cal; He's a very good athlete). I echo the Gartrell mention. And I think if Getz turned into Grudz, we should be pretty happy.
  2. QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 2, 2008 -> 07:31 PM) What makes even less sense is LA dealing Kemp for two guys who can't hit their weight, and a rental player who hasn't exactly been lighting the world on fire. Ned Colletti loves his veterans, so I would think he'd do it just to fill a hole at third base. I just LOVE the idea of dealing Swisher when his value is at his ABSOLUTE LOWEST. That and the fact PK is 10 and 5.
  3. Jerry Owens is playing for Charlotte tonight, thank f***ing God. I laugh at deals saying something like Konerko, Crede and Swisher for Kemp. Nothing makes sense quite like dealing 3 starters.
  4. TPM has a poll giving Hilldog something like a 22 point lead in SD.

  6. I live in one of those caucus states, so I suppose I don't really count as an American.
  7. Egbert: 7 IP, 3 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 0 BB, 4 K That's better. FWIW, the Charlotte press release said he was sitting mid 90s.
  8. Efficient atbat for Dotel. Heart of our offense coming up....
  9. Terry McAullife goes on CNN, b****ing about the DNC breaking the rules, when that's what they wanted all along by having both states seated according to how they voted.
  10. Hilldog with the win.

  13. QUOTE (Texsox @ May 31, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) There is no "perfect" or for that matter "good" solution that is 100% fair to everyone. The most important consideration, IMHO is to the individual voter in those states. Michigan and Florida really should have thought of that before breaking the rules.
  14. That swing was just plain weird to watch.
  15. Seeing Wise makes me miss the thug stylings of Willie Harris.
  16. Could Wise really be that much faster?
  17. Do something completely different here Swish.
  18. 99 MPH on the CSN gun.
  19. Woo......that was pretty.
