2007 White Sox Catch-All Thread
QUOTE(JDsDirtySox @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 10:45 PM) Just random thoughts about our bad baseball team after tonight's game: 1. Toby Hall is an awful catcher... I know his shoulder is injured, and I know he had a pitcher on the mound who couldn't hold a old timer on, but from his fielding of bunts, to his attempts at throwing...Yuck. 2. Josh Fields is looking better and better as our future LFer every day. 3. I hope we never see Aardsma in a Sox Uniform again. 4. Please resign Mark now... so we can move on. It'd probably help if he played more than once every two weeks. I hope David turns it around, he's young and has talent. QUOTE(BearSox @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 12:58 AM) Josh Fields will not be moved to the outfield. If the White Sox had any plans of moving Fields to the outfield, don't you think they would have had him this season? Yeah, he made an error tonight, but he is still learning the position. He has good range and a very good arm. He just needs to improve on his glove work. He has potential to be as good as Crede is/was at 3B. He won't be as good defensively as Joe. But moving him to LF was a main option for him if Crede got resigned. We did it with Carlos Lee.

FutureSox Interview: Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(Cerbaho-WG @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 05:42 PM) Phone or in-face interviews are always the best, but we don't get very many opportunities to do so for several reasons: 1) We're all living our own lives. I've done the most interviews of anyone on FutureSox, and outside of a trip we took in 2004(?), I've done only two interviews on the phone (Broadway and Honel). This year it's almost impossible for me to do any work (I really like just doing interviews and then writing a story about it) because I'm in Germany. I return home next month thankfully, so that means I'll have the opportunity to question more players if the opportunity arises. Jason works full time now and Heads is too busy basically picking up for lazy ass Jason (and everyone else). Heads also attends university full time. I'll be honest, I'm surprised we even get anything done. It's a real testament for Jason, Heads and the rest of the guys who work their ass off with the little time that they have. 2) Almost no player wants to take time out of their schedule and talk to us. I got really, really lucky with Broadway and Honel, especially Lance, but the opportunities just don't come to us unless we're there at the park. Since none of us are close to the parks, outside of me and Birmingham, it makes it even more difficult. And even with me, it would take me 8 hours just to get to Mobile and interview some of the guys. I would then have to pay for a hotel room, food, gas and everything else because we do this because we love minor league baseball (and the sluts, of course). Always the sluts.

Bears were hosed in Super Bowl
I'm glad he's out of the city of Indy. Addai is a much better rep for the team.

FutureSox Interview: Gio Gonzalez
QUOTE(Cali @ Jul 5, 2007 -> 05:02 PM) Sorry, this isn't any fault of you guys, but I hate interviews like that. Where it's just question, really short answer, no follow-ups, on to next question. You don't get to learn too much about the person being interviewed. Obviously you guys take submitted questions from the board, but I'm just sayin'... WE'RE DOING THE BEST WE CAN, DAMMIT! Sometimes the only way to get iinterviews is through the team's media office. That's what happened with Gio and Eggy. We're taking what we can get.

My friend had a funny story about Paul Bako. His uncle has a resort on Lake Michigan that Dusty Baker frequented. Baker told his uncle that if he ever wanted an autograph or something, he'd do it for him. So the uncle asked his nephew, a dyed in the wool Brew Crew fan if he wanted any autographs. He decided he wanted one of former Brewer Paul Bako. So, the day that Dusty got this autograph, it was apparently the big joke in the clubhouse, as, during some announcements, he had to say "and I need an autograph from.......Bako...."

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jul 4, 2007 -> 07:11 PM) I've really become irritated with this lull in activity. Does it really take an additional four days to negotiate a NTC? All parties know now by now their position. Tomorrow should be the limit with this Buehrle situation. Either trade him or sign him. Enough of this. If Contreras' removal is entirely dependent upon Buehrle, more the reason to speed everything up. Maybe you should answer your PM's.- White Sox vs. Orioles, 7/04/07 (L)
