Oklahoma just barely holds off OSU, and it's Nebraska or Oklahoma to a BCS bowl. On a side note, Mike Gundy is starting to do some nice things with that Okie State program.

QUOTE(Kalapse @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 03:10 PM) Sounds like a certain former White Sox centerfielder who's still remembered as an iconic figure despite posting a .736 OPS in his final year with the team. It's grinderball, motherf***er.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 25, 2006 -> 03:06 PM) I'm sure he can hit .260. I'm also sure he won't hit for any power and he still won't be able to hit a breaking pitch. Half our team can't hit a breaking pitch. What's the point? As far as the power, I'm sure the last thing he was trying to do when he was bringing his average back up was to swing for the fences. We saw him start to hit doubles though, which was a step in the right direction.

QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 24, 2006 -> 11:07 PM) Found out today that Vazquez, from the Cotts trade, served a steroid suspension in 05. Lovely! Also: Jeremy Reed looks more and more like Brian Anderson to me each day. Reed will never be that sexy.

You can nearly always get hitting. Getting cheap, talented pitching is a heck of a lot tougher.

Scott Podsednik was one of the main reasons we jumped out to the huge lead in 2005 to help us even make it to the playoffs. "Great" season or not, he did not suck for us in 05.

The 3 ISU job "finalists" as it sounds are, in order, Central Michigan coach Brian Kelly, UTEP coach Mike Price and LSU assistant Bo Pelini.

I bet Pods is better than he was last year if he starts back here, just going off of a hunch. They very well may use him as a stopgap solution for at least half a year until Sweeney/Fields are ready.

He's a "might as well" guy. They evidently saw enough of him to take him during Rule V.

What would it take to get Figgins?
QUOTE(SoxHawk1980 @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 06:52 PM) Overestimating the value of speed and maybe a .350 OBP leads to mistakes like trading for Podsednik. Let us not repeat that mistake. Come now. You can't say that trade wasn't one of the cornerstone reasons we won a World Series. Pods may suck now, but that trade helped us in numerous ways.

Catch-All Anything Thread
QUOTE(Gregory Pratt @ Nov 22, 2006 -> 09:04 PM) Got a new cat today. Told Anne, my friend, that she could name it. She named it Lina, as in, Felina. Just Lina, though. It's a cute cat. It's a girl. Lina is tiny. Maybe six months. Runt and Greyback reacted different to her. Greyback was very friendly, just wanting to smell her. Runt hissed. I'd never heard Runt hiss before. I've never seen Runt as mad as she is today. I've seen her mad and jealous, like when Anne comes over, but not like this. Gave Lina a shower today, and I'll give her another so as to clean her feet because she still mildly stinks. That's what happens when you're abandoned and live in your own feces in a closet for a few weeks. Good cat. Gotta protect her, though, but I'm tired. I think I'm going to bed way early tonight. Greyback makes me think of Grebeck which makes me think of Craig Grebeck which makes me think if I ever have a pet cat (not likely) I'll name it after a Sox middle infielder from the nineties. Here Grebeck!! Here Snopek!! Here Paco!! I kinda like that last one.
