Delmon Young throws bat at umpire after...
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 10:29 AM) The funny thing is that I heard from a top minor league baseball source that many minor leaguers are thrilled that this happened. Without the regular minor league umps, there's been all sorts of problems so far this season. They're hoping this will lead to the regular umps returning sooner, rather than later. I thought maybe an agreement went down today? http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/minors/news/261166.html

ATO: Sox Affiliates Make Roster Moves
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 07:13 PM) So you're saying no one will ever ask if we traded for Carlos Lee again? For the love of God I hope the BrewCrew picks him up.

ATO: Sox Affiliates Make Roster Moves
Doesn't sound like Winston-Salem made any other moves so I'm just waiting on Charlotte to see how they made room for Rosa....

ATO: Sox Affiliates Make Roster Moves
I'm working to confirm both Charlotte and WS moves yet tonight. I noticed Matos left the game early the other night, so Rosa makes sense. The other moves are just all over the place.

ATO: Sox Affiliates Make Roster Moves
ATO: Sox Affiliates Make Roster Moves Rosa, Armstrong, Welker, Tartaglia and others change teams By Alex E. The Birmingham Barons made a handful of moves on Friday afternoon, announcing the waiver claim of Eduardo Sierra, the activation of infielder Rob Sasser from the DL and the promotion of catcher Cole Armstrong from Winston-Salem. To make room on the roster, Birmingham sent catcher Wally Rosa to Charlotte while releasing catcher Carlos Lee and pitcher Jeff Little. Kannapolis has also made a number of moves in the last week, shaking up the starting lineup in the process. The Intimidators placed infielder Javier Castillo on the disabled list and activated catcher Eric Hollis, received outfielder Evan Tartaglia from Winston-Salem in exchange for catcher Kris Welker, and assigning infielder Vernon (Chris) Carter to extended spring training while receiving infielder Leo Acosta. Hawk & DJ? Feud?
QUOTE(fathom @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 03:15 PM) The best person I've heard associated with a Sox broadcast in the last 10 years was Jack McDowell. He was awesome in the booth in Anaheim last year. YES YES Y-E-S YES

All-Star Balloting Begins
Well......there's another benefit of winning the World Series....Konerko and Thome will both make it if they keep up at this rate.

Hawk & DJ? Feud?
QUOTE(AddisonStSox @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 02:37 PM) Well, this post is a microcosm of my beef with the Singleton criticisms. Thank you. You are going to hold it against Singleton for replacing a legend? Singleton is replacing the best play-by-play announcer in baseball. Period. If you are going to hold a novice to Rooney's standards, you are going to be seriously disappointed. We've gone over this time and time again. If you want to express your displeasure at someone, make it Score management via the White Sox. We have yet to reach the All-Star break and Singleton is already being labeled one of the worst announcers in Sox history. Give the guy a freaking chance. It doesn't help that he has to sit next to Farmer, a guy that is barely cut-out for color duties. The venom being spewed at Singleton just floors me. You make me want to hug you......

Hawk & DJ? Feud?
QUOTE(bmags @ Apr 28, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) addy, considering we are listening to a season that really likely could be one of the best seasons in our tenure as sox fans...i think we are complaining because we are gonna have terrible radio calls for important plays. I mean, Do you realize how much fun it was to post the rooney calls last year? His voice is attached to those memories...i mean imagine... "Ball hit middle uhmm. uhh uribe...he throws it to konerko...and um uhhh out ...and uhhh the sox oh uh champ world ...oh uhhh ohh no..oohh" You all are making a mountain out a molehill. I could really give less than a damn if Gage was broadcasting a game if we're doing well...

Hawk & DJ? Feud?
I thought their banter was better when I heard them on some WGN games. I remember like 2 years ago when they sounded ready to fight over a shady homerun call. I don't know if I could listen without DJ in the booth. He's really gotten better.

Thome Tear-jerker
I see him in a Cleveland hat as well unless he hits 150 homers in the next 3 years.

1985 MLB Draft Revisited
QUOTE(Tony82087 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 05:03 PM) If we draft Bonds in 1985, the 2006 roster is COMPLETELY different from what it is now. Its amazing the effect Kurt Brown has had on the organization. Indeed.

Westin Hotels - Chicago/Milwaukee
QUOTE(RockRaines @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 04:47 PM) Westin's tend to have really nice beds if they have the heavenly beds. They are pretty awesome. My pick to click for hotels in chicago is the Meridian. Its far and away my favorite hotel in the city. They are heavenly. The shower ain't too bad either.

Westin Hotels - Chicago/Milwaukee
QUOTE(aboz56 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 04:45 PM) Go on Hotwire.com. You'll get a good deal off of there. Last summer I went to Chicago and got a room at the Hard Rock Hotel for around $100 bucks a night for two nights. It was a super nice place. Only bad thing about the site is that it doesn't tell you the hotel you are staying at until you book it. The good thing is that it does tell an approximate location as well as how many stars the hotel is. I did a search for June 9th on there, just to see what came up. Found a four star on Michigan avenue for $125 bucks. Was that with gov't discount?

QUOTE(Jeckle2000 @ Apr 27, 2006 -> 03:59 PM) I can't wait to get another 99 MPH arm in the pen... Nice replacement for Hermy mid season... He's about #15 on the list of replacements right now.

Iowa State to the Big Ten? Utah to the Big XII?
If they did add a team it doesn't mean they have to change their name.....10 has worked with 11 long enough.

Westin Hotels - Chicago/Milwaukee
We're going on a vacation in early June to Chicago and Milwaukee.....plan to catch the game against the Indians June 9 and Cards vs. Brewers the next night. We realize that Sox game may very well be sold out, but my dad has had luck with scalpers in the past, so we'd likely go that route....but anywho....he asked me to look up hotel info..... When we went to Hilton Head, SC, we were able to stay for pretty damn cheap at a Westin (under $100 a night, 89 I think) in early June because my dad works for the State of Iowa. Well, I looked up both Westin's in Chicago and Milwaukee and it won't allow me to choose dates past June 4th. Is this typical? Plus, now their website says government rates but in the little box that shows discounts it says "federal discount". Now unless my dad hasn't told me anything, he only qualifies as state/government. Maybe the card he carries will get him out of it. We had a really nice time at the one in Hilton Head (probably also just because it was damn nice in Hilton Head).....are the ones in the Chicago/Hilton Head area just as nice? We haven't had the best luck staying in big cities ( I swear I saw a hooker on the corner of a hotel in Denver) but I think if we can find a place with two double rooms for under 100, we won't be too picky. Just a search for tonight in Milwaukee turned up 77 a nite, I believe. Failing that, are there any other places we should consider in the Chitown area?
