Iowa will lose at Minnesota or Northwestern. Just cause it's Alford's style.

I'm pretty sure if any of you would ever get the chance to personally interact with the guy, or to talk with him, you'll understand why there's some of us that love the guy, and want to see him get his chance.

Top 10 prospects
My personal top 5 would look something like this... 1. Anderson 2. Liotta 3. Valido 4. Broadway 5. Owens That's just me, and sort of my guess, too.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 24, 2006 -> 08:54 AM) Blah, I meant ceder falls, sorry about that. There's no city in Iowa named "Ceder" Falls. Damn, learn a little bit about the neighbor to the west.

QUOTE(Rowand44 @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:06 PM) Ha, they're a solid team. They stole a win from us up in Des Moines hopefully we'll pay them back when they come down here for the last game of the season. Who did they play in Des Moines? McDermott's still an ass.

I still hate Northern Iowa with a passion, and I hope they mess up the rest of their season.

Iowa State as a 9 is a travesty. They're more like an NIT team at home.

Have you ever hunted? It's not like picking an animal and shooting it. I don't use a lot of that stuff, but still, I doubt I'd do it if we didn't have the deer processed or donated. Deer hunting in Iowa and some other states is essential, unless you like deer through your windshield. The hunters here help balance out the population. If we didn't nature would help anyways. EDIT: I see and respect what you're saying, but I still find it to be a more fufilling experience to actually be connected to what I eat. It's a little different than picking up a hamburger at McDonald's.

QUOTE(RockRaines @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 11:47 AM) Umm, how the f*** is wisconsin ranked that high? NDSU's RPI was not terrible, I believe. They were over .500 coming into the game, and they've done damn well for an independent. Between them and TAMU-CC, the independents are a curious bunch.

I'd say three of those spots are reserved right now, so you better hope a team like Nova doesn't get hot as well. I've got Duke, Memphis and UCONN as pretty comfy right now with all the other shuffling around.

QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Jan 23, 2006 -> 12:23 AM) Just jealous that he left ISU for Iowa. And yes we did basically beat that team last year. We are capable of beating any team in the Big 10 and almost any team in the country. Doesn't mean we are going to do it. Iowa isn't some piece of s*** team without any skills. They don't play consistent enough and don't have the offense thats needed but they play very good defense (only weakness defensively is an ocassional flaw in transition defense; still one of the best defensive teams in the big 10, imo). Of course I think MSU is one of the best teams in the country. Just jealous, even though we have Blalock, Stinson and Clark? I'm pretty sure they can keep him.

Shut the f*** up Adam Haluska. Just like you didn't hear the fans at ISU.

Brian Anderson
At least no one has mentioned Jerry Owens yet. I only got to see Anderson in limited action last year, but it seemed like he went hard after the ball, which is one of the things we loved about Aaron.

Super Bowl XL: Steelers vs. Seahawks
Wow, I'm the only one to take Seattle. I have yet to decide who I'm taking in the Soxtalk contest, but I'm picking with my heart here.

Abreu rumor
If we were to trade for Abreu, our outfield would be nasty defense-wise. Of course, our D didn't help carry us last year.

Abreu rumor
QUOTE(Steve Bartman's my idol @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 01:40 PM) How about Abreu in LF, Pods in CF? BTW...I would trade McCarthy for Abreu...Abreu is an all star, McCarthy is still unproven. No Pods in center.

**2005-06 High School Basketball thread**
QUOTE(danman31 @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 01:16 AM) GBN has always sucked at Proviso for some reason. With that said it took the rest of GBN to shoot horribly, all of Proviso's starters to be in double figures, and their team to shoot almost 60% to beat us by 6. That's scary. I'm not too worried about it because I don't think there are any great teams in the state this year. GBN may be the best team in the state, but wouldn't be most other years IMO. That's because Iowa basketball sucks and your school was bad for Iowa basketball. Did you ever play high school basketball?

QUOTE(SoxFan1 @ Jan 22, 2006 -> 01:08 PM) Holy cow. I would have had a field day with my .270. There is no tag limit for Michigan so I would have had some good backstrap in the freezer. I didn't see anymore than 5 during the weekend, with only 3 I could have shot....the one I missed and 2 does that walked by afterI had shot, because I didn't know if I had hit the buck.
